The Cascade Range or just Cascades is a major western North American mountain range which traverses an inland path from British Columbia through Washington, Oregon and into northern California.
The highest peak in the Cascades is Mount Rainier in Washington at 14,411 feet at which is a national park. Mount Rainier is a large active stratovolcanoe located about 60 miles south-southeast of the major megalopolis of Seattle, Washington.
