The Colorado Plateau area is a mostly flat region with elevations from five to eight thousand feet and is centered on the four corners region. This area is often called the Red Rock Country because of the brightly colored sedimentary rock exposed by erosion and protected by the dry nature now present.

The Colorado Plateau is considered a high desert.
