QUIRE ELEVEN CHAPTER FOURTEEN
The Quest for the Solace, Part Three

On Loving Neighbor as Self Go Down Go Up
Having arrived in Texas some time ago, and for weeks now, I have been working my way slowly from the Texas panhandle down into the Edwards plateau and arrive at the bottom west edge of the plateau at Del Rio, Texas. From here, I drive north and east and find myself in Kerrville, Texas and stay here for the mid-week meeting. I then continue eastward and arrive again at the edge of the Edwards plateau in Kyle, Texas and remain here for the weekend meeting.
In my studies for the meeting, I come upon Psalm 39:12 which in part reads: Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. In this verse, the word in Hebrew for stranger is ger which means guest, foreigner, stranger. The word in Hebrew for sojourner is towshab which means resident alien, foreigner, sojourner.
I find that this verse very well describes the life I live in this wicked world as I Journey On hither and thither upon this land.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 30.015566, -97.862934
Elevation: 732 feet
Awake, walk into the w-mart, set up my computer at a table near an electric receptacle, plug in, purchase a coffee and then begin pounding keys.
For the last few days, I have not had any power in my deep cell battery and have had to rely on finding a receptacle to plug in for my daily key pounding. Too, I am not sure why this has occurred but after the meeting tomorrow, I will drive to a state park, secure a site with electricity where I may camp for a few days and at that time, I will get out my volt meter, run some voltage checks on the power charging system that I have put together and investigate what has caused this problem.
It is not until after the sun sets when I walk back out to the jammer for the evening. While I am in the jammer, I use an USB plug inserted in the dash cigarette lighter, to keep my phone battery charged.
(Day 202 TN) 63°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 106
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, walk into the w-mart, plug in to the wall receptacle, purchase a cup of coffee and then begin pounding keys to update my journal entry for yesterday and today. Once the journal is up to date and uploaded, then I begin working on my study for the meeting later today.
During my study preparation, I connect my ear phones and begin listening to the original song on my JW Library app so that I do not have to hear the celebratory music playing in the cafe marking the grandiose revelry that the world is currently involved in. Then, after my study, I continue working on pounding keys to update my web site pages.
Right on time, the meeting begins and I leave my mask on because I am still inside the cafe. Soon, after the meeting ends, I wave good bye and disconnect from the zoom meeting. Then, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the g-mart and pick up a few organic vegetables and some wild caught fish. Next, I set my GPS and drive to the state park, the same one that I drove to on Day 200 TN but found it to be full because it was during the weekend. Tonight, however, is not considered to be part of the weekend and I am able to get three nights in a row in a space very near to the shower, the one with steamy hot water.
I pull in to the headquarters, get my permit and then drive to my space, park and plug in my electric. Next, I get out my shower bag, walk to the shower house and get into the hot water. When I come back to the jammer, I check the meter connected to the deep cell battery and it shows it to be charged, well, only a little because the charger has only been on for a short time. Still, this tells me that there is nothing wrong with the power charging system, it just got drained down too low and was not registering in my volt meter. I am glad that was the only problem. Too, now that I have the electrical plugged into the receptacle, I will be able to top off all of my batteries while I am here.
Then next thing that I do is get out my charcoal briquettes, set some in the fire pit and light them. Then, I returned to the jammer to get out my cutting board and knife to chop up my vegetables, wrap them with foil and then place each on the grill above the hot charcoal. Next, I wrap the wild caught tuna steaks with foil and place it on the grill as well. Finally, I walk back to the jammer, notice the time and make a note to return in forty minutes for the food.
` When the time is up, I go back to the grill. retrieve the cooked vegetables and fish steak, and bring the food back to the jammer to eat while I continue pounding keys. Tonight, I have with my tuna steak, a medially of sweet potatoes, yellow bell pepper, yellow onion, celery, sprinkled with my spice mix and olive oil. I have ginger and garlic but ran out of time before it began getting to dark to cut up any more. (Note to self: cut the celery much smaller, so at to make it softer when baked.) Still, the vegetables were quite tasty and healthy because all of then were organic.
Lastly, after eating, I put away the kitchen and climb in to pound keys for a time longer, especially since I have an electric receptacle to plug in to. However, my cell phone service is not very good here, comes and goes. It is quite warm today and this evening warm and humid but the next three days is going to be much cooler that today.
Tonight, the campers across the road and having a party and making a lot of noise and it is keeping me awake. I finally fall asleep some time after eleven but I am awaken again at twelve-thirty and again at one-thirty.

Journey On, Day 107
Pedernales Falls State Park, Space # 065
Coordinates: 30.311360, -98.246691
Elevation: 922 feet
Due to the loud noises from the camp across the road, I sleep in this morning. Then I rise, walk to the shower house for some hot water soak time. Afterwards, as I return to the jammer, I greet my neighbor in the adjacent site and find his name to be Eric.
Returning to the jammer, I next prepare my morning hot drinks and Daystart, after which I climb in and spend a relaxing day pounding keys.
During the late morning, several birds come into my campsite, one pine siskin lands on the concrete at the base of the water spigot and licks up water from the small holes. I also see a male ladder-backed woodpecker but he bolts before I can get a photo.
At midday, I step out and take some photos of the campsite as well as the shower house to add to the Pedernales campground page. At three in the afternoon, when it has achieved the heat of the day, I step out, get out my kitchen and begin a second round of baked fish and vegetables.
The sunset comes ever so early at this time of the year with the daytime being about ten hours long. When the sun had set, I look up in the western sky and see a crescent moon near to conjunction with Venus.
Tuesday, 07 December 2021, Johnson City, TX.
(Day 204 TN) 39°F. 7:00 am, light clouds
Journey On, Day 108
Pedernales Falls State Park, Space # 065
Awake, dress, grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for some hot water, after which, I return to the jammer, open up the back and proceed to begin my breakfast preparations. When the water boils, I make my hot drinks and Daystart, climb inside and eat while I pound keys.
Too, I have been keeping an eye on the lantern post because yesterday, I hung my suet feeder on it and have been looking for a few birds to come to it and feed. The first on that I see on the suet is a black-crested titmouse which arrive after ten but does not stay too long.
Today is my last full day here and plan to leave by noon tomorrow and drive back to set up at a d-mart, one with a w-mart near because I need a good cell signal so that I may upload my photos and words. Meanwhile, I keep pounding away just trying to keep up with the new photos that I have been taking.
Then, at about two this afternoon, during the heat of the day, I step outside with a bucket and begin washing the jammer. Yes, it has needed to be washed for some time. I clean up most all of the tar that has collected on the sides behind the wheels, and there is lots of it. When I have finished scrubbing, I use the polish that I purchased a long time ago to put the shine back on the white paint and I use the remaining tire black to put the wet look back on the tires. When I finish, methinks, when I was younger, I would have cleaned it twice as good as that, however, I am not young any more and everything I do not is a major task. I think about the paradise and thank Jehovah for providing me with the hope for becoming young one day again soon.
Then, I back the jammer up into what shade that I have in this campsite, climb in and pound keys while I cool off from all that work.
I check again and find that the cell phone signal is still not existent this afternoon. It comes on in the morning, even though not very strong and I can connect to the internet to check my com. Yesterday, I got a call from Gordon who said Hello, to me and then he was gone.
Then, at three-thirty, I walk to the shower house to wash all the sweat off of my body and put on clean clothes to start the upcoming week off.
Wednesday, 08 December 2021, Johnson City, TX.
(Day 205 TN) 40°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 109
Pedernales Falls State Park, Space # 065
Awake, walk to the shower house for the steamy hot water. Then, I return to the jammer to boil water for my hot drinks and Daystart meal, after which, I climb inside to pound keys for a short time while eating breakfast. Then, at eleven-thirty, I pack out, roll up my electric cord and put it in it′s place.
Next, I drive out of Pedernales Falls state park and when I arrive at the entrance, instead of turning right which would take me back to US 390, I turn left on SH CR 201, also know as Pedernales Falls Road and drive east across a low water bridge over Flat Creek to arrive on Fitzhugh Road (also known as CR 101) and continue on Fitzhugh road, which turns and curves every which way, crosses Fitzhugh creek and then arrives at SR RR 12 (also known as Ranch Road 12) where I catch the red light. Fitzhugh road continues east but I turn north on RR 12 about four and a half miles north of where it crosses US 290 in Dripping Springs. (I have never driven on RR 12 north of US 290.)
I continue north where I turn left and drive north on RR 12 to it′s end. I then turn right and drive east on SH 3238 (Hamilton Pool Road) towards Bee Cave, Texas. If I had turned left, I would have arrived at Hamilton′s Pool in about six miles. Instead, I drive east on SR FM 3238 (Hamilton Pool road) for about four miles and stop at Verde′s Parrilla, stop to have some fish tacos and have some very tasty ones here. I will give them a good review. Leaving the restaurant, I continue driving east on SH 3238 for another five miles to Bee Cave, Texas where I turn right on SR 71, drive to Bee Cave Parkway where I turn in to the parking lot at the w-mart. This is a location that I have overnighted on a previous journey and here, I plan to stay for a few days while the day time temperatures are in the high seventies.

Journey On, Day 110
Overnighting under the Oak Trees
Coordinates: 30.305066, -97.933731
Elevation: 908 feet
Awake, look at my surrounds and see that I am in an oak forest. Well, actually, a parking lot that was built in a mature oak forest, during which the mature trees were preserved. I survey these large trees around me an notice that one tree, a live oak, nearby has a huge limb that extends directly oven my vehicle and sagging to just above my tire mounted on the roof.
I then drive to the w-mart, park, walk inside for coffee, take a seat near an electrical outlet, and begin pounding keys. Outside, the day slowly lightens and the heavy overcast sky tries hard to clear, but without success.
I pack out of the w-mart to the jammer but remain near in the parking lot so that I may use the WiFi for the meeting connection. At seven, I log into the zoom meeting and greet the friends. When it is over, I drive to an outlying area of the parking lot to park for the night, climb into the rear of the jammer and watch videos for a couple of hours before going to sleep.
(Day 207 TN) 63°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 111
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my computer bag and take a place to set up my computer and plug in for another day of pounding. I keep working on the website upgrade and get all of the Heavens information and gallery pages finished and uploaded.
At about five this afternoon, I pack out, drive to the hg-mart to purchase some beets and other vegetables. Later, I return to the parking lot to park for the night.
(Day 208 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 112
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart, go inside with my computer for another day of key pounding and I work on my jammer pages. In fact, when the time to stop arrives, I still have more work to do on this gallery section.
At nearly seven this evening, I stop, pack out of the w-mart and go in search of some food to eat before this day is done. Then, I drive to the g-mart and purchase a contain of frozen coconut cream, something I have never tried before but I find out that it is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, I even like the taste and after eating the frozen cream, I do not have the typical allergic reactions that I do with regular ice cream.
Finally, I drive to the outlying area in the g-mart parking lot, park under the oak trees and climb into the back for the night.
(Day 209 TN) 32°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 113
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park, and then walk inside to purchase a large coffee and a large hot water. I return to the jammer, climb into the rear, set up my computer and begin pounding keys to get caught up on my journal writing. Then, I study for the meeting today.
Just before the meeting begins, I log on to zoom and connect. Afterwards, I get a text message from David, a friend in Tennessee and we text for more than half an hour. I finally tell him that I am driving today and need to go. We say goodbye and I leave out of Bee Cave heading south on SH 71. Soon, it connects with US 290 west and I follow both for a short time leaving the hill country behind and entering into the coastal plains.
In no time, I turn south on US 183 and continue south on US 183 through Lockhart, then Luling and soon after cross under the IH 10 overpass. A short time after that, I arrive in Gonzales, Texas and turn left on US 90 Alternate for a short distance and arrive at a d-mart to park for the night.
It is cold again tonight but when I add a blanket, I sleep warm and comfortable.
(Day 210 TN) 47°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 114
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 29.517651, -97.449379
Elevation: 315 feet
Awake, dress, drive closer to the d-mart to park and go inside to see if any of the items I have been looking for are located in this store. Nope, but I still buy a few items, particularly a carton of coconut milk to drink on my drive down to the coast. Too, I buy a new package of apples and some green onions. Then, I drive out of Gonzales, south on US 183.
I drive east on US 90A and stop at a ff-mart for a senior coffee. Then I turn south onto US 183 and drive for just over an hour and stop at Goliad State Park, acquire a day pass, drive to the shower house and get into the steamy hot water. Once I am all fresh and new again, I then drive back north a short distance and stop at the El Camino Real de Los Tejas visitors center, to take a few more photos of the Custodian Cottage. Once I walk in, I meet Scott, who is retired military and just began full time RV-ing with his wife, who I did not meet. As we talk while I take photos, I find out that he is working for his RV space rent. I also give him one of my cards so that he will have a list of camping locations. Then, I pack out of Goliad, continue driving south on US 183, but I decide that I will go to Goose Island state park to stay a couple of days. This requires me to turn left on SH 239 after just driving 2 miles south on US 183. T then, drive under US 77, continue on SH 239 and just after arriving in Tryoli, I turn south on SR 35 and at this location have only 25 more miles left to drive for today.
I arrive at the entrance to the state park at about two in the afternoon, pay for a two night stay here, then drive to my campsite. I first plug in my electrical cord and connect all of my batteries. Then, I climb into the jammer and begin writing today′s journal entry. Soon after, I get out my grill, light some charcoal and begin preparing my food, chopping and wrapping in foil. I do so like to cook my food this way because it provides a hot healthy meal for me. It is too bad that most state parks are twenty dollars per night to camp with electricity, which I really do not like paying that much. Still, a occasional camp with an electrical connection is not going to break me.
When my meal is done, I climb into the jammer to eat and continue pounding keys. I have salmon with baked vegetables with include: sweet potato, green onions, red bell peppers, gallic, ginger and a baked apple for desert. Then, at nine, I put away the computer and get into the horizontal to watch some videos.
(Day 211 TN) 60°F. 7:00 am, overcast, light rain
Journey On, Day 115
Goose Island State Park
Coordinates: 28.1364336, -96.988188
Elevation: 10 feet
Awake, dress in my summer blues, grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for some very hot water. After my shower, I return to the jammer to prepare my morning meal, hot coffee, hot tea and a cup of my Daystart. All morning, there are loud noises coming from several location in the immediate surrounds. The one that I readily recognize are the fishing boats pulling away from the boat ramp and out into Saint Charles bay.
Afterwards, I move the jammer forward about ten feet so that it will be in the shade of the Live Oak tree for more of the day. This works quite well and keeps me much cooler this afternoon. Then, I get into the jammer to pound keys and when a man walks his dog by, I step outside to greet him.
We talk about full time travel; he and his wife has just sold their home and are beginning their′s. Soon, I direct the conversation to the hope of the future and he allows me to show him several verses for me to show him my hope. Then, Bob and his dog departs while I climb back into the jammer to wait for the next opportunity to witness to someone.
Then, at about four this afternoon, I light some charcoal and begin to chop up the rest of my fresh vegetables. Once the vegetables are wrapped in foil, I place the foil package on top of the grill and then I pound keys while I wait for them to cook. With the food ready, I pack away the kitchen, climb into the jammer and continue pounding keys while I have me evening meal. This time, my meal is very hot, like I enjoy it. Then, I walk back to the fire and retrieve my baked apple, a tasty finish for this evenings food.
After eating, I wash the fork and the plate, put them in their place and then resume the work on my computer almost completing all the pages that I have been working on for several days. However, there are still two pages remaining when I turn off the computer and get into the horizontal. I will do them in the morning after my hot shower.
I then go prone and read for a while before closing my eyes.
(Day 212 TN) 60°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 116
Goose Island State Park
Awake after a warm night, dress in my summer blues, grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for one last hot shower here at Goose Island park. After my shower, I return and complete the last two pages of the Shelters having Wheels well, after I check, I find that I have completed all the vehicles prior to and including the 1994 Aerostar. It appears that I still have a couple more pages for the 1989 Aerostar to complete. However that should not take me too very long and I have already previously completed the 1997 Aerostar.
Eventually, I will complete those last few pages and bring them up to the latest revision.
At about ten this morning, I roll up my extension cord, put it in it′s place and then drive out of the camping area, but not the park. Instead, I drive to the bay front to see what birds are available to photograph. Not many here just a few white pelicans, one great blue heron, several black vultures, and many sea gulls.
I then leave the park and drive up to see the Big Tree and get several photos of the large Coastal Live Oak here on this island.
Leaving Goose Island, I turn left onto SH 35 and follow this highway west through Fulton and continue west on SH 36 Business through Rockport to Aransas Pass where I turn back north to connect to SH 35, which is also US 181 and continue west across Nueces Bay into the jurisdictional district of Corpus Christ, Texas. Here I get begin traveling west on IH 37 but take the SH 358 exit, then exit immediately on the Leopard Street exit where I turn west on Leopard Street and drive past the Kingdom Hall, continue west on SH 407 all the way to IH 69E where I cross under this highway and drive another mile to arrive at the w-mart where I have marked time in the past trips through this area. I pull in here, park and carry my computer back inside for some air conditioned air until long after the sunset.
Afterwards, I drive to the d-mart nearby for the night. I have made it to another overnighting location where I can have good internet to connect to the meetings, both Thursday midweek meeting and Sunday weekend meeting.
When I do pack out and walk outside, I immediately feel the warm humid air. Normally, by this time, the temperatures are cooler but I have come to acknowledge that, here in the south of the continent, a warm period can always occur and it can do so pretty much any time of the year. However, the winter solstice is soon upon us and after that I hope that the warmer trending will be done for this year.

Journey On, Day 117
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 27.853025, -97.631782
Elevation: 77 feet
Awake, walk into the d-mart to purchase avocados and Olive oil, then I drive to the w-mart park, walk inside for a cup of coffee. The warm humid wind blew all night with little relief even during the early morning. I sit inside the w-mart and await for the air conditioning to kick in, which it finally does just before eleven this morning.
I continue pounding keys and updating my website pages all day right up until the sun sets. Then I stop and get ready for the meeting tonight, having done most of my study yesterday. Then as it becomes close for the meeting to begin, I log on the meeting using the zoom application.
After the meeting, I pack out of the w-mart, return to the jammer and drive that half mile to the d-mart where I find a p;ace to park for the night. Then, I do as I have been doing most evenings, in that I watch videos until late and then put away the electronics and close my eyes.
(Day 214 TN) 65°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 118
Awake, drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee, air conditioning and another day of key pounding. I continue with the same work of updating web pages all day long and by dark thirty, I am ready for another night of rest.
(Day 215 TN) 68°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 119
Cold Full Moon, 22:37 CT
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, walk inside for coffee, air conditioning and key pounding. In the afternoon, the sky outside becomes very dark and about an hour after that, rain begins to pour down. I stay inside all day to stay out of the wet weather.
Then, shortly after the sun sets, I pack out, drive to a ff-mart to buy a couple of bean burritos, then drive to the d-mart to eat my food. Afterwards, I watch videos until late this evening before getting into the horizontal for the night.
(Day 216 TN) 45°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 120
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart and with my computer in hand, walk inside for coffee, a spinach feta breakfast wrap and to pound keys. A couple of hours before the meeting begins, I open the JW Library app and study for the meeting this afternoon.
In the early afternoon, I connect to the meeting with the zoom app and join those already connected. After the meeting, I do not stay long in the break out room but leave the meeting and return to the work on my web pages.
The days have become so very short, now just a little longer than ten hours and like most days on the coast of Texas, it has been raining quite a bit now, mostly during the night. Later, I drive to the d-mart to park for the night, watch a couple more of the older JW Library dramas before turning off my

Awake and see the sun just above the horizon and the surrounding clouds filled with gold edged color. I look at the weather radar and it is true, the canopy of rain clouds which moved northeast through Mexico, crossed over the mountains during the past week, inundated the local community for the last several days, have now continued to the northeast over the Gulf and are currently working their way up through Houston and New Orleans with an large swell of rain clouds extending northwest into northern Louisiana, east Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas. This storm is typical to the coastal region of this continent, more of the same will come from the Pacific in the coming weeks, beginning by crossing over the Sierra Madre mountains and arriving along the Gulf coast to dump their rain showers.
Methinks, finally, the storm clouds have moved through giving the coastal region a reprieve from the cold and wet. Too, I look to the west and see the full moon above the horizon and note that this Cold Moon, the last full moon of this year was to also be the moon of the longest duration because of being so near the winter solstice. I have not been able to photograph it because of the prevailing rain storm, however, now it presents itself to me for one last opportunity of such photography, so I use my camera, zoom into this now waning Cold moon.
I drive to the w-mart, park in the rear of the store so that I may gather the sunlight into my solar panel to charge my battery. Then I walk into the cafe, set up my computer, after which I purchase a cup of coffee to sip on while I pound keys. Looking out from the table where I sit, I see that the sky is blue and clear of any clouds. I continue pounding keys until well after dark and then pack out to drive for first something to eat, then to the d-mart to park for the night. After finishing my food, I resume watching the older videos in the JW Library.
Later, I turn off the electronics and get into the horizontal for the night.
(Day 218 TN) 39°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Solstice
Journey On, Day 122
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and then my phone rings. When I answer, John from Oak Harbor greets me and says that he is calling because he wants to tell me that he will no longer be a member with Melaleuca after this month. I thank him for letting me know and tell him that I am stocked up with the tea so I am good for now and do not need to order anything. Next, I call Frank from Harlingen and ask him about the circuit overseers visit and he send me the schedule. I thank him as well. Since tonight is the first meeting of the overseer, I decide to stay put and view the meeting where I am at.
I then drive to the w-mart, purchase coffee and plug in my computer to work on the web page until the late afternoon. At about seven this evening, I connect to the Harlingen congregation for the meeting and the overseers visit. I find out that the overseer is a substitute and he is from Blaine, Washington which is not far from where I lived.
After the meeting, I leave the meeting and drive back to the d-mart for the night, set up and climb into the back to watch videos until late.
(Day 219 TN) 45°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 123
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a moderately cold morning, dress in my fall blues and because I will join with the ministry group this morning, I also wear a tie. Then, I drive to the w-mart, park in the back so that the solar panel is in the sun and walk inside for coffee and to set up my computer. Then, I update my journal with the start of today′s entry as well as complete yesterdays.
At nine-thirty, I connect to the ministry meeting and hear the circuit overseer′s comment, after which I get out my quill and begin writing letters and continue writing for two and a half hours when the meeting ends. At the morning break, the overseer asks for anyone who wishes to answer the question, What occupation do you wish to do in the paradise? Of course, my occupation After that, I return to my work on the website pages.
When this day ends, I return to the d-mart, park, and climb into the rear of the jammer to read and watch videos until I close my eyes.
(Day 220 TN) 55°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 124
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my meeting clothes, drive tot he w-mart, park in the back where the sun is shining on the solar panes, walk inside, set up my computer, purchase coffee and then begin updating journal entry while waiting for the ministry meeting to begin. When the meeting begins, I am already connected and ready for the morning of writing letters with the group. Soon, the overseer makes up the groups and the work begins and there is conversation going on between the friends. At ten this morning, the overseer calls for a break and then asks, Where do you want to build your house in the paradise? to which, when I give my answer, my comment is that I would like to live in my tent and continue to travel the entire earth and see all the wondrous sights.
Later, after the meeting ends, I return to the key pounding and persist until after dark. Then, I drive to the d-mart and repeat. As I mentioned before, I am staying here so as to have a good connection for the circuit overseers visit.
(Day 221 TN) 60°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 125
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another day here on the coastal plains of Texas and another day of high humidity and warm wind. I drive to the w-mart to await for the ministry meeting to begin while updating my journal entries. Today, the question that the overseer is asking all at the ministry meeting is Who do you want to see in the paradise? Of course, my answer to this question is and has been for a long time, the first priest mentioned in the Bible, the one called the King of Salem and priest to the most high God. Yes, that would be Melchizedek, which is most likely also Noah′s son, Shem.
I look back in my journal and see that I have been here for ten day now, plan to stay two more until after the overseers last talk on Sunday. Then, I will drive to one of the state parks, set up my camp for a couple days and afterwards, drive to the south of Texas for my winter sojourn.
When the meeting begins, I have trouble with the internet connection and I can not understand what the friends are saying, which continues most of the time that I am connected to the meeting. However, the connection does gets better and I am able to converse with the friends. I am not sure what caused the connection problem, maybe it has something to do with the computer operating system upgrade that I have been working on today. Still, by the afternoon, it was cured and the connection was back to normal. Later, after the overseer closes the zoom connection, I return to working on my web site, by creating several new regional maps. This continues until well after dark, after which, I retire to the d-mart several blocks from here, park and then climb into the rear of the jammer to read and watch videos until I become tired.
(Day 222 TN) 63°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 126
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my meeting clothes, drive to the w-mart, walk inside to set up my computer, connect to the zoom meeting, and begin to greet the friends as they connect to the meeting. We then are assigned into groups and then work together in separate rooms.
After several hours, we come to the end of the ministry and after we say goodbye, we all go out separate paths. I go back to my work on the region maps. When the cafe closes, I pack out and head to the d-mart parking lot for the night.
Once again, in this system, I come to find myself alone in a parking lot because of it being a super spreader holidays, a time when then whole world remains home to celebrating this pagan ritual. Methinks, when this event comes upon me, that it is a strange feeling indeed. Despite this being alone, I continue to carry out my spiritual routine, one that I have developed over the decades of years since I learned the truth of the Bible.
Furthermore, I must needs say, this spiritual path that I walk upon is the only one that gives me hope.
(Day 223 TN) 64°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 127
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart, park in the rear parking lot, walk in to the cafe and purchase a cup of coffee. Then, I set up my computer and begin pounding keys, first to update my journal entry.
Then, at quarter til one this afternoon, I connect to the zoom meeting for the circuit overseer′s talk, Can Love Conquer Hatred? I really enjoy this talk simply because it shows that Love can be a predominant quality in our life and when it is, we have a great amount of power to use it in opposition to the wickedness all around us.
At about three today, I pack out of the w-mart, drive west on SH FM 624 to Orange Grove where I stop at the local g-mart to buy some fresh food for then next three days camping and I also purchase a bag of charcoal briquettes so that I can grill the food. Then, I leave out of Orange Grove on SH 359, drive seven and a half miles to the entrance to the state park, turn left, drive to the entrance station to check in and the head to my campsite to set up and cook my first meal, grilled fish with baked vegetables, which to me is very tasty.
Soon after, the sun sets with a golden glow filling the sky so I grab my camera to photograph the scene. Later, I continue pounding keys and proceeding on the work of drawing new geographical regions map of several areas of North America.
All too soon, the sky has gone dark during this winter′s day and I just continue on my computer, now on full battery power, which only last for about another two hours before the inverter begins to beep at me telling me that my deep cell battery is now below eleven volts. However, even when I turn off the inverter, my computer battery still has a full charge and but it too will all soon begin to beep. Yes, I know that my computer time is limited after the sun sets.
(Day 224 TN) 62°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 128
Coordinates: 28.058253, -97.877832
Elevation: 114 feet
Awake, step out of the jammer and walk to the bath room. Then, I begin cooking my breakfast in a skillet on the grill and find out that the heat is not enough if I use the grill so, I put the skillet directly on the coals. Wow, that just made the grill obsolete if I use anything but aluminum foil. When my eggs are done, I climb back into the jammer to eat and to pound keys, still working on drawing the geographical region maps, a task that will most likely take me many more days to complete. Today, I hear a great Kiskadee which lands atop a tree right next to the jammer and begins calling out, so, I step outside and spot him, but he leaves before I can get a photo of him.
In the late afternoon, I light some more charcoal in the fire pit and then begin slicing vegetables. When I have all the vegetables wrapped up in two foil pouches, I put both on the grill and set the grill over the charcoal. Then, I go back into the jammer, close the doors to get away from the insects and wait for almost an hour for the vegetable to bake.
When the food is done, I climb back into the jammer, close the door and eat while working on the map project. When the sun sets, I go onto battery power and not long after that, I have to shut down the computer. However, I still have my phone charged so I can watch videos or even read from my Bible app. I get horizontal and close my eyes before ten this evening.
(Day 225 TN) 64°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 129
Lake Corpus Christi State Park
Awake, dress in my summer blues, step out of the jammer to grab my towel and shower bag and then walk to the shower house for a warm water shower. I do not like this shower house because of the lukewarm water and tomorrow, instead of taking my morning shower here, will pack out and drive to the Javalina shower house which has medium hot water. In the future, I do not plan to came in this camping loop next to the Catfish Cove shower house.
When I return to the jammer, I get out my charcoal, start a fire and then prepare my meal using up what remains of the breakfast food that I had purchased before arriving here. I then, climb back into the jammer to eat and pound keys for the remainder of this day.
As the sun quickly drops to the horizon, I get out to photograph the suntouch but it is nothing like Sunday evening when I first arrived here. Then, I continue to sit inside at my computer until the inverter beeps after which I turn it off and continue with only my computer battery for a short time more. Finally, I put away the computer and get into the horizontal to watch videos for a time longer.
(Day 226 TN) 61°F. 7:30 am, fog humid
Journey On, Day 130
Lake Corpus Christi State Park
Awake, dress, pack out my grill, solar panels, and then start the jammer. I leave the campsite and drive to the Javelina Loop Shower House for a hot shower because the water here is somewhat hotter than the water in the other shower houses. When I arrive, I park in the parking lot and notice that there is construction going on to build a new shower house for this loop, in which, I hope that they do not lower the temperature of the water. After my shower, I leave the state park and drive back to the w-mart in Robstown, Texas, where I take my regular seat and begin pounding keys.
I suspect that I will stay here for a few more days awaiting the weather to leave behind these very warm days, temperature which is uncommon for this time of year. Looking ahead on the forecast, it should become colder just after the first of the year, and that is when I will drive the final section of my journey south.
(Day 227 TN) 63°F. 7:30 am, fog, humid
Journey On, Day 131
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 27.853208, -97.631320
Elevation: 76 feet
Awake, dress in my summer blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding. It is another very warm day so I stay inside in the air conditioning and work on the geographical maps. Later, I connect to the Harlingen congregation for the midweek meeting.
After the meeting, I pack out of the w-mart and drive to the h-mart to park for the night.
(Day 228 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Journey On, Day 132
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another totally overcast winter day without any sun this morning. I rise and go through my morning routine and arrive at the w-mart, take a seat with a cup of coffee and begin pounding keys to bring my journal up to date. Too, I have need to create another month of templates for this journal. Once the templates are done and installed, I then resume my work on the geographical region maps and continue with it until well after the sun sets.
Then, at seven this evening, I pack out of the cafe and head for the d-mart to park for the night. I just know that it will be noisy tonight with another super spreader holiday being held. Still, I will try to get some sleep.
(Day 229 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 133
Overnighting in a parking lot
Sunday, 02 January 2022, Robstown, TX.
(Day 230 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 134
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, rise, walk into the d-mart to purchase some engine oil for the drive south and then return to the jammer. I start the engine, leave the parking lot and drive to the entrance to the southbound lane of IH 69E and begin the final passage on this migration south. Yes, Day 134 will conclude this southbound migration and officially inaugurate my winter sojourn.
After a relatively short drive, I arrive in Harlingen and leave IH 69E at exit 26C, the downtown Harlingen exit and soon turn left on Tyler Avenue, drive two blocks, park on the street next to the w-mart, and go inside with my computer to pound keys and prepare for the meeting this afternoon.
Shortly after noon, I connect to the Harlingen congregation meeting and listen in. Afterwards, I pack out of the cafe, out of Harlingen and head west on IH 2 to Falcon state Park where I will stay for a few days for lavation and to recharge. However, before I arrive there, I stop in Penitas, Texas at the d-mart to buy groceries and fuel. After my shopping, I continue west on US 83 to SH 2098 where I turn left and drive to Falcon Heights. Since it is after five PM, I decided not to go to the state park because I will just be parking and sleeping in the jammer, but instead, stop at the county park where I can do that for free.
Once I drive into the campground, I see that Robert from Canada is here so I stop briefly and say hello to him. Then, I drive to the mens room for a quick stop there and finally through the campground to locate an open campsite, which in this campground does not have a number, neither a fire ring, just an old slab of concrete that could be called a table. After parking, I leave the engine running with the heater on to warm up the inside and climb into the back of the jammer to read the Bible and watch videos for a while.
After it becomes dark, I cover up and continue to watch videos until I can not keep my eyes open any longer. Now, since I am now in my winter sojourn location, I will begin a new section which will be named as such.

The Winter Sojourn, The Bottom of Texas Go Down Go Up
Monday, 03 January 2022, Falcon Heights, TX.
(Day 231 TN) 29°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day One
Elevation: 336 feet
Coordinates: 26.566975, -99.127635
Awake to daylight, start the jammer engine and turn on the heater. Then, I get back under the covers, even with my head under the blanket because it is so cold, to wait for it to warm up inside the jammer. When I can stick my head out and my nose no longer hurts from the cold, I know that it is warm enough to rise and get dressed. I then wait for eight o′clock this morning before I drive out of the county park. Once I leave out through the county park entrance gate, I turn left on SH 2098 Spur, then left again on SH P46 and drive to the state park entrance, arriving at the headquarters building shortly after eight this morning.
I ask the ranger for three nights in the tent camping section, pay the fee and attach the permit to the inside of the windshield. Then, I drive to the campsite and begin setting up, first to dig holes for the left side wheels to lower that side due to the existing slanted dirt. When the two holes are dug, I then back the jammer into the space and next take out the solar panels, set them up and connect them to the controller. Soon, I have enough battery power to turn on my computer and set up for WiFi. However, my phone signal here is very weak and the data is intermittent if not all together absence. It does come on periodically and I am able to transfer data at these times.
Then, I grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for some steamy hot water, which I have always enjoyed here at the Javelina Loop shower house. Afterwards, I return to the jammer to prepare my breakfast and I create a new omelet recipe which includes: the eggs, mozzarella cheese, coconut milk, spices, green onions and a first time ingredient of chopped cabbage. I prepare the food on some charcoal and also make a cup of coffee and a cup of hot tea by boiling water on my backpack stove. When the food is finished, I move everything into the jammer, turn my computer back on and then update my journal entries while I eat.
I continue while the day slowly warms up, at eleven this morning the temperature rises to 50 degrees and rises to 60 degrees by two this afternoon during which time I am now drinking my hot tea. Too, there are very few people in the state park, at least here in the Javelina tent camping loop, no one in eye sight but I do know one who is on the back side of the loop, who has walked his dog along the loop road past my campsite. When I tell him hello, he says that he knows me from when we both camped here in 2019; then Russ and his dog continue their walk.
I reset my solar panels and come to understand why I have asked for campsite number 68 the last several visits, because there is less shade in number 68 and I have to reset the solar panels a lot less in that space. I will remember that the next time I come here, campsite number 68 is the one that I want for better solar panel use. However, this visit, I will continue here in 69 which will require me to move the panels several times throughout each day.
When the sun comes within three fingers to the horizon, the signal strength increases and so I begin uploading photos for the completed Falcon State Park campground including some from this years visit. As the sun begins to make contact with the distant horizon in the west, I grab my camera and step outside to photograph the colors of the suntouch, my very first for this year.

Winter Sojourn, Day Two
Falcon State Park, Javelina Loop, site# 69
Elevation: 313 feet
Coordinates: 26.589990, -99.1539750
Awake, dress in my winter blues, reset my solar panels, grab my shower bag and walk to the shower house for more of the steamy hot water. Upon returning to my campsite, I light some charcoals and begin preparing my morning meal. Soon, I am back inside the jammer eating while I pound keys to update my journal while outside a cold wind still blows, so I close the door but leave the slide windows open. Soon after, before the coals expired, I put a package of bone broth in my cook pot to warm, followed by the remaining cabbage that I have just chopped, and then I add chopped onion, spice mix and dried kelp. Finally, I restack the coals and put the pot of soup back on to let slow simmer while I go inside the jammer to pound keys and write in my journal.
During the middle of the day, when it becomes a bit too hot to remain in the jammer, I walk across to the opposite side of the campground with my camera and take a couple of photos of the very low water level and while there see a northern flicker, which I am able to get one photo of before he bolts.
In the late afternoon, I climb back out to check the soup and find it steamy hot and done cooking. So, I bring the cook pot inside, set it on the floor between the front seats, and then let it cool for a little while and then I spoon out a serving into my Sierra cup to eat. Not too bad but definitely not my favorite, however, for what the head of cabbage cost me, it is truly an inexpensive meal. I have two servings and save the rest for tomorrow.

(Day 233 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day Three
Falcon State Park, Javelina Loop, space # 069
Awake to a very comfortable morning just knowing that later, it is going to get quite hot, possible in the mid eighties. After that, I step out of the jammer, grab my towel, shower bag and walk the desert scrub brush trail to the shower house for my morning dose of steamy hot water.
Upon returning to the campsite, I start a charcoal fire and begin my morning meal preparations, which will finish most the groceries that I had purchased for this camping sojourn here at Falcon Lake and will end upon my arising tomorrow morning. Upon thinking about this short time here at the lake, I must say that I have seen only a few birds and have been able to photograph even fewer. Too, I have see very few campers, none of which have camped close enough to be within eyeshot. It is very quite here and do not see anyone, except for an occasional couple of pedestrians.
When the sun sets, I continue to pound keys for as long as the battery holds up and hear several coyotes barking and howling. Earlier today, I saw a northern crested caracara fly by and he did not even stop to have his photo taken. Too, I was to see and photograph what I believe is a female and/or a juvenile loggerhead shrike, but I am totally not for sure what the bird is and, yes, it is unlike me to not know.
(Day 234 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day Four
Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 110 feet
Coordinates: 26.190149, -98.209846
I begin packing out, first the solar panels, then my clothes line, next the garbage can and finally, I do a walk about to pick up any trash the I have dropped. Then, I start the jammer engine and drive to the shower house for my last shower here at this camping stay at Falcon park. I remember that there is a burger place called What in Roma, Texas, which is only about a half an hour drive so, after my hot shower, I put my gear into the back of the jammer, climb inside to start the engine, drive out the state park and head south on first SH FM 2098 to US 83 and then south to the restaurant where I purchase two breakfast burritos and order a free senior coffee. Then, I get back on the road and continue south on US 83 to Penitas, Texas where US 83 changes to IH 2. I continue south on the interstate highway until I arrive in McAllen, Texas and take exit 143B, drive past the d-mart where I will be staying for the next few days, turn right on East Jackson Avenue and at the burger place called What on the right, turn left into the parking lot for the w-mart.
When I park the jammer, I have driven exactly 70 miles which took me, with the breakfast stop, almost two hours. I then park the jammer directly in front, grab my computer bag and walk inside to pound keys and upload files to the internet.
I sit here for the rest of the day working on the computer and later, have another cup of coffee, a hot sandwich and a cranberry cream cheese bar. When the sun sets, I continue until about six-thirty this evening when I go out to the jammer, connect to the internet with the zoom app on my phone and then dial the Harlingen, Texas congregation for the mid-week meeting. Then, right after the meeting, I disconnect and drive to the d-mart parking lot for the night. I read for a while, then watch videos for another couple of hours before I lie down to close my eyes.
(Day 235 TN) 48°F. 6:30 am, fog and overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day Five
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer engine, drive to the w-mart and go in to use the mens room. Next, I set up at the same table that I was at yesterday, then I begin pounding keys to resume work on the same project, that of creating the geographical region maps for North America/
By the end of this day, I have made a large dent in this project, one which I hope to finish soon, well at least to a point where I can call it good and get on to the next project. Then, I stop at a Mexican restaurant for supper but for many of the places that I stop here in the valley, the food is no where near to what my preference is and even though it was taste, I did not like the quality or small portion size.
After eating, I drive to the d-mart, park in the outlying lot and then put up my window shades for the night. I finish by watching videos until quite late
(Day 236 TN) 48°F. 7:30 am, fog and light rain
Winter Sojourn, Day Six
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a very wet morning because yesterday afternoon, a squall past through south Texas and the resulting rain wet everything in its path. However, typical of south Texas, the storm has passed through and moved out into the Gulf of Mexico and points northeast of here. Then, I dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park in the first slot, grab my bag, walk inside and set up to resume pounding keys.
After one more warm humid day of staying inside a cafe for the cool air conditioning to work on my geographical region project, and waiting until after the sun has been down for a couple of hours, I pack out, drive to the burger joint called What and have my usual hot sandwich. Then, I drive to the d-mart next door, park, have my meal and climb into the back of the jammer for the night.
(Day 237 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, fog, overcast and humid
Winter Sojourn, Day Seven
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my meeting clothes, drive to the w-mart, park, walk inside with my computer bag to purchase a cup of coffee and then set up at the corner table to pound keys. Late this morning, I open up the Watchtower Library app and begin my study for the meeting this afternoon. Then, at twelve-thirty, I connect to the Harlingen Congregation and join the meeting. After the meeting ends, I am transferred to a jump out room where I meet the speaker, who now lives in New York near the Warwick facility.
Upon leaving the meeting, I continue work on my current project and work until long past dark, after which, I drive to the Cracker Barrel about two miles west of where I am and have a nice meal. When I am done here, I then drive back to the d-mart, park for the night and get into the back of the jammer for the night.
(Day 238 TN) 54°F. 6:00 am, cloudy, humid
Winter Sojourn, Day Eight
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in mu fall blues, grab my computer bag, walk inside to the corner table and then set up my computer for another long day of pounding keys. I have been updating each of the fifteen sections of the Regions gallery pages with the new maps that I have been creating. In the previous many weeks, I have added all the links to the first four sections, which links will take the viewer to each of the gallery index for those geographical regions and there to find a compendium of that region including the photos and stories of my journey into those regions. Now, in the upcoming work, I will be adding more of the newly created maps, links and the accompanying photos and stories that are associated with those regions.
Then, long after the sun goes below the horizon, I pack out for another days end visit to the d-mart parking lot for a night of rest.
(Day 239 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, cloudy
Winter Sojourn, Day Nine
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake first at six and think, wow, that was fast; I slept right through the night. However, since I was up late last night, I decide to go back to sleep, at least until the alarm goes off. Then, I arise, dress in my winter blues, and when I step outside to don my trousers, notice that the sun is just rising above the horizon. Methinks, this is the first time I have seen the morning suntouch in I don′t know when.
Next, I drive across East Jackson street to the w-mart, back the jammer into the same space that I have been parking ever since coming here and set up the dash solar panel to gather a charge. Finally, I walk inside, set up my computer at the corner table, after which, with my earned star rewards, I acquire a large cup of coffee and sit down to begin work on the current project.
I continue to work until after dark but not until the cafe closes, instead, I stop at about eight this evening, purchase a burger from the place called What and then drive to the d-mart to park of the night.
Once in my space under the large oak trees, I watch videos until ten including more of the January broadcast and then get into the horizontal.
(Day 240 TN) 51°F. 7:00 am, foggy and humid
Winter Sojourn, Day Ten
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues and drive to a different cafe, on about a mile from where I have been overnighting, one that is much newer than the one on Jackson street. I set up my computer, purchase coffee with my reward points and the begin pounding keys be updating my journal entry. Next, I resume my work on the regions section and complete several more pages before stoping for the evening.
Leaving the cafe, I drive to a burger place called What for something to eat and then to the d-mart to park for the night.
(Day 241 TN) 52°F. 7:00 am, overcast, humid
Winter Sojourn, Day Eleven
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my meeting clothes, drive to the Cage street cafe, the same one that I went to yesterday, park, walk inside, set up my computer, and then get in line for a cup of coffee. Once I have my coffee and sitting down at the corner table, at seven-thirty this morning, I open my computer to my journal and update the entry and work for a short time on the regions section of my web site. Then, at eight-fifty, I connect to the ministry meeting in Harlingen and join in with the friends. Today, I will begin composing a letter on my computer that I will be sending to my siblings sometime in the near future. When it is completed, I will then hand write it on paper because I wish to include the letter in an envelope with a copy of an appropriate Bible track.
I have decided to write again to my siblings simply because circumstances always change for every one and who knows, I pray that one of these may just listen this time to the message from God. Then, just after noon, I leave the ministry meeting and return to pounding key to work on the current website project. I continue with this same effort until after dark when I stop, pack out and drive to the d-mart for the night.
At about ten tonight, a friend from Tennessee, David calls and we catch up on all what has been happening in our lives over the past months. The last time we talked, he had told me that he had colon cancer and this conversation he tells me about the chemo treatments that he has begun. We end up talking until about one in the morning. Then, I tell him good bye, turn off the phone and get into the horizontal.
(Day 242 TN) 58°F. 9:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day Twelve
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, rise slowly, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and to resume the work on my computer. I begin by updating my journal entry and then go on to the Regions page work to continue to work on these. Due to the coldness of the inside air conditioned temperature I have need to go out to the jammer to get my sweater
Long after the sunsets, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and climb into the back.
(Day 243 TN) 41°F. 8:00 am, sunny, dry
Winter Sojourn, Day 13
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, rise, drive, coffee, computer, eat, continue.
I work for a very long day, but after the sun has been down for over an hour, I complete the last on the earth′s geographical regions map pages and then upload them all to the website. Wow, was that a long time on that project. I think that I will celebrate and go to the burger place called What for a double meat with extra onions.
Upon making it out of the drive-through, I then retire to my overnight location by the oak tree, park and enjoy my meal. Later, I climb into the back of the jammer and get into the horizontal.
(Day 244 TN) 37°F. 6:00 am, sunny, dry
Winter Sojourn, Day 14
Overnighting in a parking lot
For the last three mornings, I have awaken to the sun shining into the jammer with it cool but dry. Today, the temperature was somewhat cold, down into the thirties and this is the conditions that I most enjoy, which according to the forecast should last for three more days before the rain and humidity returns. For the most part, this has been a wet winter but still comfortable. I then drive back to the w-mart for coffee, computer and com, then begin to update the region pages with links and photos.
Much later, I pack out, drive to the What for my supper, then to the d-mart to park for the night.
(Day 245 TN) 39°F. 7:00 am, sunny, dry
Winter Sojourn, Day 15
Wolf Full Moon, 17:51 CT
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to the alarm and another cold morning, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer.
At six this evening, I pack out and drive to a restaurant across the street, one that I have a free meal voucher from that I received on Veterans day earlier this year. The food is really tasty but the restaurant is filthy, a condition that I am finding throughout this area′s restaurants.
Afterwards, I drive to the d-mart, park and take my camera out of the jammer to photograph the Wolf full moon, however, it was so bright that it was hard to even get a good photo.
(Day 246 TN) 43°F. 7:00 am, sunny, some humidity
Winter Sojourn, Day 16
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com and computer. Then next time I open my journal is at nearly eight this evening and have accomplished much by the way of updating the geographical regions maps, adding changes on one map to the rest so that they all have the same information. Methinks, when I grow up, I want to be a cartographer and create maps of the earth, because I sure enjoy this work that I have been doing. I will upload all of the map revisions to the website and they will fit right into their places in the Regions section of my photo galley. Even though the maps have been updated, I still have to update the pages where they are displayed. That, will come later.
Then, at eight tonight, I pack out and drive through the What place and then to the d-mart for the night.
(Day 247 TN) 44°F. 7:00 am, sunny, humid
Winter Sojourn, Day 17
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in fall blues, drive to cafe for coffee, com and then computer. Then, after the pounding of many keys, I pack out, drive to the What location for my supper and then to the d-mart for the night.
This day was traversed working on the Mexico map, mostly in the Sierra de Sur region.
(Day 248 TN) 46°F. 9:00 am, overcast and cool
Winter Sojourn, Day 18
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the cafe and immediately connect to the Harlingen ministry meeting to continue with my letter writing. Then, I do the coffee, com, computer while I compose letters. By then afternoon, I have already completed more than three hours in the meeting and so depart from the meeting. I next, work on my computer and pound keys for the rest of the day.
After it becomes dark, I pack out, drive through the What location, then to the d-mart to eat my burger. Outside, a winter storm has blown in with rain and lowering the temperature into the forties. Finally, I climb into the rear of the jammer and get into the horizontal.
(Day 249 TN) 34°F. 7:00 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 19
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, turn on the jammer engine with the heater running to warm up the inside which this morning, takes quite a while. Last night, the temperature dropped to 32 degrees, however, upon arising this morning, I see no ice nor snow anywhere and perceive all the hype and carrying on about this winter storm was for naught. I drive to the w-mart, which, due to this extreme winter storm, has delayed its opening until nine this morning and I let the jammer engine idle with the heater on while waiting for the cafe to open. These south Texans are so funny because a mild winter storm such as this sends then all into a panic and each cloaked in their heavy winter coats.
When the cafe opens, I go inside for coffee, com and computer working today on updating the many ecoregions information and link pages. For my lunch, I go next door to the Panda Express and purchase a plate of that Chinese food, which after eating have a sick stomach. I did not like the look of the food, give the restaurant a bad review and will never buy food from that restaurant again. I continue here again until after it become dark before packing out and driving to the d-mart for the night. It is raining when I arrive at the parking lot.
(Day 250 TN) 45°F. 7:00 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 20
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, feeling better this morning, drive to the d-mart, park near the entrance and go inside to purchase food, oil and filter for the jammer engine, power steering fluid, and some fresh coconut milk. I also find some blank writing books for twenty-five cents each and buy two. Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, computer and to work on creating the ecoregion link pages for each of the fifteen regions. During this day of work, I have gone through the first four region pages to create the link pages and now have these completed.
I do not leave the w-mart until about seven-thirty, and I go first to buy a Whata burger, then to the d-mart to watch three new videos from jw.org and keep the engine running to have the heater turned on. Later, I climb into the back but my legs are cramping so I put my sweater back on and step outside for a short walk. Upon returning I run the heater again for a short time to rewarm my body, and finally climb back into the rear of the jammer and get under the two covers.
(Day 251 TN) 48°F. 7:30 am, overcast, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 21
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart but before going inside, I open the jammer hood to add power steering fluid to the reservoir and also clean my rubber sandals. After the chores, I then grab my computer bag, walk inside, set up at my regular table, and the step up to the counter to obtain a medium cup of Pike Place coffee, after which, I sit down and begin to write my journal entry for today.
Later, I begin my Bible study to prepare for the meeting this afternoon and then join the meeting shortly before it begins. I use the new wireless earphones that purchased a few days ago which do not work with my computer at first. However, when I realize that they are still connected to my phone and then disconnect that link, I am able to hear the meeting.
Afterwards, I return to the work on creating links to the ecoregion gallery pages which goes fairly fast because of having first created templates fore each of them.
(Day 252 TN) 46°F. 6:00 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 22
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a very wet morning, the parking lot where I have been overnighting has large pools of standing water. I had wanted to drive today to the state park to camp for a couple of nights but this morning, when I looked outside, I decided against going and opted to just continue sitting in the w-mart again. I drive there, carry my computer bag in, sit in my window seat and begin pounding keys. After a short time, I go up to the counter for a cup of hot.
Today, like many before, I work long hours to complete more of the ecoregion pages, gathering information from the internet to add to my knowledge data base.
Then, at nearly eight this evening, I pack it out and retire to my parking space for one more night here on the Coastal Plains in the Bottom of Texas.
(Day 253 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 23
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to the bright sunlight shining into the jammer, I rise and look outside and everything is still totally wet from the last several days of winter rain showers. I then dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and drive through the parking lot to see if it is dry enough for me to change my oil. Not seeing any dry areas, I then drive to the w-mart and park because although still very wet now, later today, it should be adequately dry for me to lie on the ground under the jammer and drain the oil. Thus, I drive to the w-mart, carry in my computer bag and set up at my regular table to pound keys and sip on hot coffee while I wait for the drying to occur.
Then, at noon, upon looking outside, I see that the bright Texas sun has completely dried the hard surfaces around the cafe, so, I pack out, drive back to the d-mart and find a good location to begin changing the oil in the jammer engine. Methinks that getting started is the hardest part concerning the oil change, because climbing under to remove the old filter and the drain plug is old hat for this shade tree mechanic. Next, I clean up old oil from the filter mount and screw on the new filter, then reinstall the drain plug and before I climb out from under the jammer, I recheck the tightness on both the new filter and the drain plug.
With that done I am finished the part of the work under the van, climb out and begin putting the new oil into the oil receiver hole together with the bottle of slick fifty that I always use. I then start the engine, let it run for three minutes and then check the oil lever, which shows that it is down more than a quart. I then add the last quart, restart the engine and this time, I let it run for about ten minutes while I remover the jack stand and floor jack that I had used to raise the jammer high enough for me to climb under. Too, I fold up the green grass carpet that I use to lie upon while I am on the ground and finally, I pull the flat bucket of used oil from under the jammer. Next, I turn off the engine and check the oil level again to fine it within to good to go zone.
After putting the oil dip stick back into its place, I begin to clean and pack away my tools, then sit down upon my stool and dip portions of the dirty oil with a dipper and pour the oil into the now empty oil containers, filling up only three of the four that I used. Once, all the old oil is bottled, I clean up the dirty oil from the shallow bucket and other tools after which I put all the oil gear away as well. With that all done, I then change out of my work clothes and back into my summer blues.
With the oil change chore now behind my and the time still long before two this afternoon, I decide that I must needs drive to the state park for a hot shower. Thus, I drive out of the parking lot, onto IH 2 and begin the seventy mile drive to the shower house, which when I arrive at the entrance building, I tell the ranger that I want to camp in space number 68 for two nights. I pay the twenty dollar for the permit, then drive to the campsite and begin setting up camp. After the solar panels are pointing toward the sun, I walk to the shower house for my first of several that I plan on taking during my stay here.
Much later, when the sun sets, I continue pounding keys with the hope that the deep cell battery will continue to power the computer, however, immediately, the inverter begins to beep and when I look at the voltage display, it reads E11, which I know as to mean that the battery is no longer charged despite it being connected to the solar panel since I arrived here. Methinks, the deep cell battery has expired.
So, without battery, nor internet signal, I can do nothing else be read from the Bible and watch a few videos. I start with the videos under media, Interviews and Experiences, and finally from our Archives. Of course, I have seen all of these previously, but now, it is time to watch them again. The third one, is my favorite, Getrud Potzinger and when I was working in Brooklyn back in the 1980s, I met Brother Potzinger who was outside displaying the Watchtower and Awake in front of one of the societies buildings. Finally, I turn off my phone and close my eyes; it was about eight this evening.

Winter Sojourn, Day 24
Falcon State Park, space # 068
Elevation: 313 feet
Coordinates: 26.590007, -99.154250
After a really tough night of prolonged pain in both of my legs, I finally get up and boil a pot of water to make my breakfast, a cup of hot coffee and a cup of hot tea. When the meal is done, I climb back inside to eat and to pound keys. However, the deep cell battery will not charge even the slightest, so I just eat my meal. Afterwards, I pack out, initially to give up on camping here for one more night. I do stop at the recreation center and meet some of the volunteers and visit with one for about a half of an hour, even giving her my card.
Next, I drive out of the state park, set my GPS for the first auto parts store and have them check the battery, which they say is bad. However, when I ask for a replacement, the clerk says he does not have one but there are several at the store ten miles further south in Rio Grande City. Arriving at the second auto parts store, I allow them to check the battery and the clerk but says that it is not charged enough to run a good cheek and that it needs to be charged for about an hour. Ok, I tell him and leave to drive to the d-mart to purchase a couple of items and then return and wait in the parking lot at the ap-mart until an hour expires. Upon going back inside, I am told that the battery is bad and I ask for a replacement one, which I already know that they have. After the purchase of the battery, I walk outside to the jammer and install the battery in its place, during which I also sweep out the dirt from the inside of the jammer. Now, since I have battery power, I drive back to the state park to stay the additional night that I have already paid for.
Once I pull into the space, I set up the solar panels, then check the charge meter and find it to be charging like I know it should. I then turn my computer on and it works like it should as well. Yes, every thing has returned to normal here in the Texas Southern Inland Plainsecoregion. However, I still do not have phone signal but my phone keeps connecting to the services across the border in Mexico.
I continue through the gathering darkness and long after that, I turn off the computer and begin watching more of the JW Library videos, in the Interviews and Experiences, watching many more until I am too tired to watch another. I then turn off all my devices and close my eyes.
Thursday, 27 January 2022, Falcon Heights, TX.
(Day 255 TN) 52°F. 7:00 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 25
Falcon State Park, space # 068
Awake to a wet day, but not to cold, rise, dress in my fall blues, pack up my solar panels and drive to the shower house for the third douse in the hot water. When I am finished, I then drive out of the state park eastward on US 83, stopping only for coffee and a breakfast taquito.
I arrive back at the McAllen cafe at about ten this morning, connect to the ministry meeting and resume working on my letter composition that I will be mailing to my siblings. When I first became one of Jehovah′s Witnesses, I approached all of my siblings to speak to them about my discovery of Bible truth, but none, not one wanted to hear of my newfound joy. That has been over forty years ago and I have decided to try contact them again, but this time I am going to send them a handwritten letter. Thus, it is this letter that I have been composing during the later many hours of my ministry.
After the meeting ends, I then return to the other work that I have been trying to accomplish, that of the photo gallery. Then at six this evening, I make a comment to the young woman sitting at the table next to me, share a though with here and soon I am sharing verses from my Bible. I also show her a video and she asks if it is from the Watchtower. She says that she has been studying for a few months, but has not done so recently. I encourage her to resume it soon and to make it a priority.
Upon coming back to my desk, I then connect to the mid-week meeting and join in. When the meeting is over, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the d-mart and set up for the night.
(Day 256 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 26
Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 112 feet
Coordinates: 26.190149, -98.209846
Awake for the first morning back since my last drive to the state park for a hot shower and I have moved to what is slightly higher ground, which I found when I did my oil change. It is raining now and has been all night, still the jammer is holding tight against the storm. I dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside to set up my computer and then go up to the counter for a cup of hot coffee. Once I am sitting back at my computer, I resume the key pounding.
After another day of concentrating on developing the region pages, some time after dark, I pack out, drive through the place called What and then drive to the d-mart to park on the upper concrete area which I have found does not fill with water during heavy rain and here eat my burger. Then, I watch a few more videos before I climb in the back to sleep.
(Day 257 TN) 46°F. 7:30 am, partly cloudy
Winter Sojourn, Day 27
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a cooler morning but one not to cold, rise, dress in my winter blues and then drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Many of the baristas here now know me by my first name and some even know what I order in the morning. I carry my grande black Pike coffee to the table and begin pounding the keys. The sun now breaks through the clouds and shines very brightly into the cafe, which indicates to me it is time to pack out.
Leaving the cafe, I drive east on IH 2 to the Sharryland exit, drive into the shopping mall and stop at the Clips hair salon to have my hair shortened. After the haircut, I then drive north on SR 336 to stop at the hf-mart to load up on packaged cooked beets and a couple of other items. Then, I drive back to the cafe in McAllen, and with a clear blue sky above and having completed all of my chores, walk inside to return to my fingers pounding on the keys.
Later, long after the sun sets, I pack out, drive across the street to acquire a meal, then drive to my parking space, the one on high ground, back in and set up for another night.
(Day 258 TN) 45°F. 6:00 am, sunny, clear blue
Winter Sojourn, Day 28
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, repair the power plug because it has come out, which involves just screwing it back in. Then, I drive to the w-mart, don my socks and shoes, walk into the cafe and set up my computer for another day in this system, in this coastal region, in this city and in this winter sojourn.
Soon, it is time for the week end meeting to start, so I connect to the Harlingen congregation and join in for a study about having more faith. Afterwards, I return to the same key pounding as before and continue setting up the ecoregion pages, links and stories.
After another long day with the bright sun blaring the entire day, I pack out of the cafe, drive to the d-mart and begin my evenings rest.
(Day 259 TN) 49°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 29
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive, coffee, computer, more coffee, food, more computer, more food, sleep.
The entire day passes without me opening up my journal to record the details, so, after it has completely passed by, I come back and add my journal entry.
With the end of this month coming to a close, this will make it an entire month since coming down to south Texas for my winter hiatus. Too, upon choosing to stay this winter in a south Texas city, I have made a personal observation that the demographics have changed to be more heavily populated with people of Mexican descent, possibly as much as ninety or more percent. In years past, I had noticed this in many of the smaller towns along the Rio Grande valley, but the low valley in the larger cities always seemed to have a much lesser proportion of the Mexican population, more in the demography of sixty to seventy percent. However, that is now changing as I see very few non Mexican people at all now, often I will go several days without seeing any.
(Day 260 TN) 51°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 30
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com, computer. Later, I have a breakfast wrap and more coffee. Even later, I have a large glass of water with a warmed sandwich. I work on creating ecoregion pages and the links connected to the pages. After a day of creating many pages, I check the total number of pages on my website and it is becoming close to two thousand. And, there is still more to do.
Long after the sun sets, I pack out, drive to the parking lot and set up my camp.
Tonight will be the warmest night since my arrival in the bottom. However, the warm night is a short lived event because the night time temperature will not rise above fifty degree for then next two weeks. That is fine with me as I do not like it when the nights stay above sixty degrees as that is much too warm for good sleep.
Nevertheless, when the night time lows persist above sixty degree for any extended period, my sojourn in the bottom will quickly come to an end and I will then be moving northward along the gulf coast of Texas.
(Day 261 TN) 59°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Winter Sojourn, Day 31
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer, drive to the parking lot garbage can to dump my trash, then drive to the dollar store to buy some paper napkins. Upon entering, I find that the sign stating everything one dollar is gone and the price has been increased to one and a quarter dollars. Methinks, well, I am wintering in a city. Next, I drive to the w-mart, put up my window shades, uncover my windshield solar panes and then carry my computer in for coffee, com and key pounding.
With the sun having set a couple of hours ago, I pack out to the jammer, drive through the place called What for a double meat with no cheese and extra onions. Then, I drive to the high ground location where I have been parking for already a week and back into my space. There is a jeep here, the same one that parks here regularly.
I put up my window shades and then eat my supper, after which, I climb into the rear of the jammer and view a few videos. Allen from Webster, Texas video calls me and we talk for a few minutes. Lastly, I retire for the evening but it is very warm, so I open the slide windows. Some time after midnight, I awake and find the temperature has plummeted, so I close the tow sliding windows and then get back under the covers.
(Day 262 TN) 45°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day 32
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart, pack in, set up at my regular table, buy a cup of hot and then sit down to begin this day here in the cafe.
I remain inside the cafe all day and it is not until after dark when I pack out to the parking lot for the night.
(Day 263 TN) 37°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 33
Overnighting in a parking lot
This day is a mirror image of yesterday, just quite a bit colder. Still, it is going to be even colder tomorrow, possibly reaching freezing. Still, I have only been using two blankets each night to keep warm.
After packing out of the cafe, I do drive to the d-mart to purchase a couple of items for my pantry, then drive to the outlying area of the parking lot to have my super.
(Day 264 TN) 32°F. 8:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 34
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, turn on the jammer engine to warm the interior and then sleep for another hour. Then, I rise, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and connect to the ministry meeting in Harlingen. During this time, I work further on composing my letter to my family members and then after a few hours, I say good bye, disconnect from zoom, and return to my work on the ecoregions.
Then, at eight, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and park for another night, one that does not start as cold as the previous one.
(Day 265 TN) 37°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day 35
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, start the engine, drive to the trash receptacle to dump my garbage and then drive to the w-mar for coffee, com and computer, where I continue for another day.
However, today, I decide to leave out early, before the sun sets and drive to the d-mart to set up and take a nap. While parked under an oak tree, I see a bird I do not recognize and begin taking photos of it despite it being so dim here under the trees.
After I examine the photos and check in my bird identification book, I conclude that this small bird is an Eastern Wood-Peewee, which is a new one for my photo gallery. I then climb into the rear of the jammer and get comfortable to watch some videos.
Shortly after that, it begins to rain and continues throughout the night. Due to constant acorns falling and hitting the roof of the jammer, I move out from beneath the tree into my regular space, after which, I turn off my phone and close my eyes.
(Day 266 TN) 52°F. 7:00 am, rain
Winter Sojourn, Day 36
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a much warmer morning, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and walk inside for coffee, com and computer.
(Day 267 TN) 41°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 37
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive out of the parking lot, onto IH 2 and turn west to drive to Falcon state park. I do stop along the way to first purchase twenty dollars of gasoline and then a cup of coffee and something to eat. I arrive at the headquarters building, ask for a day pass and then drive to the shower house for some hot water. After I don clean clothes, I then drive out of a mostly empty campground, past the nearly full county park and stop at the Penitas, Texas d-mart to shop for some groceries and also buy three new polyester shirts. Lastly, then drive east back to McAllen, Texas where I stop at the w-mart to wait out the remainder of the day in rest mode.
At eight this evening, I drive to the d-mart and park for the evening. Methinks that I will stay here in the valley for possibly a week or more before I begin my slow drive north along the Texas coast.
(Day 268 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 38
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I work on the ecoregions pages and have as my goal to complete all of these pages before I pack out today. Then, at five, I check through the entire Geographical Regions Index to determine that this part of the work is completed and that I next will need to work on these many ecoregion pages that I have created, updating them with the many photos I have been taking through the years.
I drive to the d-mart, park for the night and then get into the horizontal.
(Day 269 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 39
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com, computer, letter writing and after many hours of composing and writing a letter to my siblings, I stop and begin working on this journal to write today′s entry.
Then, at five, I pack out, drive to the d-mart to park for the evening and finish my study for the meeting tonight. At seven-fifteen, using my phone, I connect to the Harlingen congregation and continue with the friends for the midweek meeting. Later, after the meeting, I disconnect and get into the horizontal for the night.
(Day 270 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 40
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the trash receptacle to empty my garbage, and then drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer.
Today, I resume working on the Regions gallery, of which all of the individual pages are now created, which gallery amounts to about four hundred pages. However, today, I am not working on the sixteen map index pages because all of those are complete. Instead, I am working on updating the individual gallery index pages that have been previously created and will bring them up to the final status, which, too, will prove to be a time consuming task. After that has been completed, the next step is to begin populating these index pages with photos and links to other photo pages.
I continue working until long after the sun sets, then pack out to the jammer, drive through the burger place called What and then drive to my evening place of parking.
(Day 271 TN) 59°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Winter Sojourn, Day 41
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive, coffee, com, computer. I see in my social media that I have a suggested friend, Gerald Brown, who was in a congregation with me in League City, Texas. We connect and begin to communicate with each other and I find out that he is still working for Fedex. He requests that when I am in Houston, that we get together for a meal or something. I tell him that I will be there between late February and early March. I then ask him where in Houston does he live now, but I am still awaiting his reply.
I make good progress on the gallery index pages today, stay late at the w-mart and at ten, I leave for the evening parking place.
(Day 272 TN) 391°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Winter Sojourn, Day 42
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I pound keys to update my journal entries, then I return to the work on the gallery index pages. Then, later this morning, I begin with my study for today′s meeting, then, about fifteen minutes before the meeting starts, I long on and wave hello as I am inside a noisy cafe. I do hear a couple friends say hello to me. Then, I stay with the meeting until the last song and prayer
After leaving the meeting, I then return to working on the web pages. Too, I have been tracking the weather here in the valley and I am beginning to notice that the nights are starting to warm, even if only slightly.
(Day 273 TN) 53°F. 8:00 am
Winter Sojourn, Day 43
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, and computer. I resume doing the same work that I have been doing for several days now, keeping busy until the early afternoon, when I have something to eat. While, I am eating, as it has been my custom, I look on the internet to see what videos are available that might be interesting for me to watch.
What I find really peaks my interest, a documentary about an ancient rock wall believed to be built by giants thousands of years ago, possibly even before the flood. Even more amazing about the was is that it is located in Texas and became the source of the name of a town in northeast Texas called, Rockwall, Texas. However, after taking core samples and doing some paleomagnetism tests, that measure the direction of the magnetism in the stone showed it all in the same direction, it was found that the wall was natural. The explanation was that million of years ago, some clay filled in a large fissure, then hardened, after which it cracked, forming what appeared to be a wall of stone.
During the video, I did learn a new word, which is archaeoastronomy, meaning the art of some ancients to align their structures with the line of the sunset on the solstice.
(Day 274 TN) 51°F. 7:00 am
Winter Sojourn, Day 44
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the place called What for a free senior coffee, the to the hf-mart for some more steamed beets, cans of skip jack wild caught tuna, dried cranberries, sprouted rolled oats and several fresh vegetables. After shopping for groceries, I then drive to the highway and turn north on IH 69C which soon after it leaves the city turns into US 281 on which drive to Alice, Texas where I turn east on SH 44, drive through Robstown and then once arriving in Corpus Christi, Texas, I turn right on SH 358, also known as the Padre Island Drive. I continue east on this drive to the water and cross over the inter-coastal waterway on the high elevated bridge and onto Padre Island. Immediately, I notice that upon arriving on the island, the area is beginning to be built with carnival like businesses, much like Gatlinburg is just east of and outside of the Great Smoky Mountains. The stores include fast food, souvenir shops and even a Starbucks cafe. Every one is trying to make a buck. How I do pray that God′s Kingdom comes soon.
I drive right past the carnival and continue south on Park Road 22 another ten miles to the entrance station, then into the park to the visitors center for a couple of stickers and then back to the campground to claim my space for the evening.
I tale to several people that I see and even get to witness about God′s Kingdom to one man named Paul. When I ask if he reads the Bible, on of his reasons he does not is that God is very violent and has killed many people in the past. I reply to his complaint and tell him yes, God has killed people in past times but there is always three things that has to happen first before he ever has killed anyone. He then focuses his attention on what I am going to say next.
First, those people are involved in degrading, deplorable and wicked degrading practices, things which God not only hates, but will not tolerate. Second, God sends one or more of his people to them to give them warning of impending destruction by God if they do not cease and desist their detestable practice. Third, those practicing the wicked behavior do not listen to the warning, nor do they stop practicing their disgusting habit, and continue right on doing what they want. Paul then tells me that he fully understands how that would matter to me and also says that he would not like to discuss this topic any longer.
Methinks, it is a sad situation when people do not want to know more about God, and when during Armageddon, God send his heavenly forces down to the earth to destroy the wicked, I will not have any sorrow for those being destroyed by the most high God, Jehovah.
I return to my vehicle, climb inside to work on my journal entry when I see moon rise above the restroom, so I grab my camera, walk towards the boardwalk and begin taking photos of the moon that is only one day out from being full. I talk to a few other who are walking along the roadways and endeavor to speak more about the wonderful things that are soon to be here, but today, it just does not seem to be happening.

The Journey On, The Spring Migration Go Down Go Up
Moving Slowly North
Wednesday, 16 February 2022, Padre Island National Seashore, TX.
(Day 275 TN) 60°F. 8:00 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day One
Full Snow Moon, 10:59 CT
Malaquite Campground
Coordinates: 27.431310, -97.295810
Elevation: 25 feet
Awake, step outside to walk across the street to the restroom, then back to the jammer and because of the strong wind preventing me from boiling water, I choose to begin packing out. First, I put the solar panels in their place, next, I rearrange the inside and when all is positioned, I climb into the drivers seat, start the jammer, pull forward twenty feet and then step out to police the area. Methinks, policing the area is something that I have done ever since 1970 when I was in boot camp. I get back into the jammer and drive out of the park and into the carnival area where I stop at the cafe for some coffee and WiFi, and methinks, it is nice to have a connection again as there was no phone signal in the park. I connect to the internet and begin uploading my files.
At noon, I have completed my work and I begin thinking if I want to stay here or continue further north, so I walk outside and see that there is quite a lot of waterside parking nearby so I decide that I will stay here and hope to get the moon rise over the horizon at sun set tonight. However, there is a strong wind today and it remains totally cloudy all day making me think that viewing the moon is going to be highly unlikely. So, I just stay inside pounding keys and will park somewhere locally tonight.
Despite it being new, the deep cell battery does not seem to be charging very well. I will keep an eye on it for the next several days.
By eight this evening, I come to a point where methinks that I have completed the formatting part of the region index pages which next, I have only to begin inserting the links and photos.

Journey On, Day Two
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 27.673242, -97.298773
Elevation: 13 feet
Awake this morning to a warm wind but no where near as strong as the wind was yesterday. I drive closer to the d-mart, walk inside to use the mens room and then buy three bags of hemp seed and a carton of cold coconut milk. Once back in the jammer, I drive back to the cafe for air conditioning, coffee, com and computer.
At six this evening, I pack out and drive back across the bridge and locate a Chipotle restaurant, this being the first time this winter that I have eaten at one of these. Afterwards, I drive back to the d-mart and set up for the night. Then, at seven this evening, I connect to the Harlingen congregation for the mid-week meeting and begin to greet the friends.
Friday, 18 February 2022, Padre Island Causeway, TX.
(Day 277 TN) 41°F. 7:50 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Three
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to a cold morning with a very strong wind, one which began late yesterday and continued throughout the night. I dress in my fall blues, start the jammer and drive east across the causeway and stop once again at the w-mart on the carnival coast side of the causeway. Again, I say, this system must needs go away.
I continue here until after the sun sets working on several of the gallery pages, updating and setting up links, which is a long process indeed. Then, at seven, I pack out and head back over the bridge to the d-mart to park.
Saturday, 19 February 2022, Padre Island Causeway, TX.
(Day 278 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day Four
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the garbage can to dump my trash, then drive east on the causeway to the w-mart, park and then walk inside for coffee, com and computer. As February slowly winds down, I an now setting my sites upon more campsites further up the coast. Even so, having come this far up the coast, about one third of the distance along the Texas coast, I have noticed a substantial change in demographics with the percentage of Mexicans dropping considerably the farther north I travel up coast.
Sunday, 20 February 2022, Padre Island Causeway, TX.
(Day 279 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day Five
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dump trash, drive, coffee, com, compute.
Then, at ten this morning, I open my JW Library app and begin my study for the meeting today, later, I pack out of the w-mart to connect to the meeting in the jammer. Then, immediately after the meeting, I disconnect from the zoom amp, start the jammer and drive out of the w-mart parking lot. Turning left on the Padre Island causeway, I drive until arriving at SH 361 where I turn northeast onto Mustang Island and drive five miles to the state park.
Turning in to the park, I ask if there is a campsite open and the ranger says none with electric but we allow camping on the beach without any hookups. I ask, How much and she tells me it is ten dollars a night. Methinks, I can camp free on the beach at the National Seashore, why would I pay ten dollars here when it is free just a short distance south on Padre Island. I tell her No thank you, just give me a day pass, please
I then drive into the state park and park at the shower house, get out my shower bag and towel, then go inside for a hot shower. Afterwards, I leave the park, turn north on SH 361, which is a road that I have never driven on before. This state highway takes me to Port Aransas, where I enter a carnival town, totally so, even worse than that which is on the Padre Island causeway. No, I will most likely never drive back through this part of the Texas coast again, because it has been ruined by the greed of man.
At the eastern end of Port Aransas, Texas is a ferry where I get into line to board and do not wait long before I am moving onto the ferry. One of the boat hands tells me that I can not get out of my vehicle so I take photos through a window in the side of the ferry. Soon, I am exiting the ferry and driving over several islands until I arrive in Aransas Pass, Texas, turn right on SH 35 and begin my travel north to Lamar, Texas. Here, I turn right on Main street, drive to the park road, then right again and drive into the park. I stop at the headquarters and find the office closed so I grab one of the self registration envelopes and drive into the first loop and claim a campsite, after which, I drive back to the headquarters and deposit the envelope.
Arriving back at the campsite, I plug in to charge batteries and since it is already six this evening, I choose not to cook but eat a can of tuna, some nuts and fruit. Later, Nancy with her two dogs, from the site next to me walks up to greet me and we talk for a long time. I am able to witness to her about how Jesus said that there would be a Paradise here on earth again, but I think she was really not interested to learn more about that.
(Day 280 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, rain
Journey On, Day Six
Coordinates: 28.135, -096.98632
Elevation: 8 feet
Goose Island State Park
Awake, rise, grab my shower bag and towel and walk to the shower house only to find that the water has been turned off, apparently in the entire park. I return to the jammer and begin boiling water, make a cup of Daystart, a cup to coffee and a cup of tea. I then climb back inside to pound keys and a short time later, the water comes back on.
After raining all night, early this morning, the rain stops and slowly the sun shines through the clouds and more and more blue sky slowly appears. So, at about eleven-thirty, I walk back to the shower house to see if the water is hot and when I enter, find it just right, steamy hot.
Then, at noon, I pack out, drive to the park headquarters and ask to stay for another night. I was hoping to get campsite #106 because first, it is just across from the shower house and second, it is in an isolated spot. She said it was available for one night, so I pay the fee and then drive to the site and begin to set up.
Golden Milk Vegetable Stew
At three this afternoon, I get out my cook pot and begin to boil bone broth, which upon the broth starting to boil, I add one quarter cup of organic brown rice and let the broth return to boiling and after about ten minutes add a full cup of quinoa to the boiling liquid. I wait another ten or fifteen minutes while the pot simmers and then add a heaping tablespoon of my golden milk mix, a heaping tablespoon of my spice mix, a heaping tablespoon of chopped seaweed and then stir all these into the liquid. Next, I add a sweet potato which I had chopped into half inch cubes. After the liquid returned to the simmer, I added one onion and one bell pepper, both also chopped. I return the liquid to a simmer and continue until when tasting, the rice is soft.
When the stew in the cook pot is done cooking, I carry the cook pot into the jammer, put away the kitchen and then climb into the rear of the jammer to pound keys while I am eating. Soon, dark encroaches upon this island and the birds, which have all day been quite vocal, become silent.
(Day 281 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day Seven
Goose Island State Park
Awake, dress in my summer blues, open up the jammer and step out to clean my cook pot from last night′s supper, after which, I put it back in it′s place. Next, I open the rear lift door, take out my stove and tea pot and begin to boil water, which when it boils, I prepare my breakfast. When the meal is ready and my kitchen is stowed, I climb back into the jammer, sit down at my computer and begin writing today′s journal entry.
At noon, I unplug and drive out of the state park for places north, returning first to SR 35 where I turn right and drive north, first through Port Lavaca, over the bridge, continue north on SR 35 to SR FM 1862, then north to SR FM 616 and right until I return to SR 35 which was a short cut that I learned several years ago. Once back on SR 35, I then drive further north and east through Bay City then on another short cut on SR FM 457, the SR FM 521 through Brazoria and finally east on SR 332 into Lake Jackson where I stop at the w-mart. Too, I find that directly across the street is a d-mart and decide that this is a good place to overnight a few days.
After dark, I move across the street to the d-mart, park and set up for the night. Then, I check the weather and find that tonight will remain in the low sixties most all night long, but in the morning will cool off and the rest of the week, the nights will be in the high forties and low fifties, which, for me is perfect.
Wednesday, 23 February 2022, Lake Jackson, TX.
(Day 282 TN) 49°F. 8:00 am, fog, light rain
Journey On, Day Eight
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 29.047151, -95.458422
Elevation: 17 feet
Awake to a foggy, wet morning with a light drizzling rain, dress in my fall blues and then drive across SR 332 and then right in the mall parking lot to the w-mart. I park, grab my computer bag and walk inside for coffee, com, and key pounding. Just outside the window is Texas SH 288, one that goes way back to my childhood, my teen years when I had first traveled on that roadway.
From my current location, I am just forty-five miles from the IH 610 Loop and the Astrodome complex where I was to spend much time during my youth, first at the Astrodome on the 8th of May, 1965 for the Boy Scout Circus and later when I was to acquire a job, together with my older brother, Fred, at the then existing Astroworld. We both spent the summer of 1967 enjoying work at the park. Too, I remember when in High School playing football coming here to this town to compete with the team in the high school here.
I continue here all day pounding keys watching the never ending flow of southbound traffics from the big city making this town just another suburb of the megalopolis called Houston, one which I now totally avoid driving into, even though I do occasionally drive through the suburbs surrounding the city. In fact, this journey will find my driving up into League City to visit some of my friends there, which is probably the closest I every come to being in the city limits.
Later, after it becomes dark, I pack out, drive to the d-mart, park and then climb into the rear of the jammer for the night.
Thursday, 24 February 2022, Lake Jackson, TX.
(Day 283 TN) 39°F. 7:00 am, overcast, fog
Journey On, Day Nine
Overnighting in a parking lot
I could hear rain dancing on the outside of the jammer during the night but when arising this morning, it had stopped because the cold front has moved further up into east Texas. I dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer.
When checking for a campsite in Galveston Island state park, I find that the park is completely booked for the next two weeks, so instead of overnighting there, I will just go there tomorrow, get a day pass and then take a hot shower.
At about noon, Ellen, my sister-in-law texts me and asks where I am. We text-talk for a short time and tells me that she is taking a trip in May to the coast of Massachusetts and asks if I know of any good beach places to visit, to which I say yes. Soon after, she has to go, but it was nice visiting with her again.
Friday, 25 February 2022, Lake Jackson, TX.
(Day 284 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, overcast and fog
Journey On, Day Ten
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for my regular coffee, com and computer, except that I do not stay very long, leaving at about ten this morning to drive across the San Luis Pass bridge onto Galveston Island. This bridge is one of the few toll bridges that I am aware of and the fee to cross is now $2.00.
When leaving the w-mart, I turn east onto SH 332, the immediately south on SH 288, continuing on SH 332, driving five miles and take the SH 332 exit and continue east, then south for another seven miles, cross over the Intracoastal Waterway bridge onto Follet′s Island, continue another half mile to where SH 332 ends and then, I turn east onto SH 257. Here, I continue east through a sparsely populated island to the San Luis Pass toll bridge, pay the fee and drive across the bridge to Galveston Island.
Upon arriving on Galveston Island, the highway changes to SR FM 3005 and I see an completely different topography, because the west end is entirely populated with stilt homes in many subdivisions. In fact, some of the subdivisions have possibly a hundred or more homes. Soon after, I arrive at the state park which I find is closed, so I continue east on the highway and then arrive at Seawall Boulevard and continue east along the wall into the city taking photos along the way. I was expecting to see the Flagship Hotel but do not see it, instead, I see the pier with an amusement park called Pleasure Pier.
Saturday, 26 February 2022, League City, TX.
(Day 285 TN) 41`°F. 8:00 am, overcast and fog
Journey On, Day Eleven
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 29.468473, -95.091120
Elevation: 16 feet
Awake to another cold morning, turn on the jammer engine to warm it up and the get dressed in my winter blues. When I did the search for my location coordinates, I find that the elevation here is just sixteen feet and I am 36 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It always astonishes me that the Coastal Plains along the Texas Gulf coast are so very flat. Even where I grew up, in city of Pasadena, Texas, which was some sixty miles from the Gulf coast, the elevation was less than twenty-five feet.
Next, I drive to the w-mart for my coffee, com and computer. Just before eleven, I connect to Harlingen congregation for an abbreviate week-end meeting because today is the circuit assembly, which I have already downloaded and will watch later.
After the meeting, I pack out and drive to the Cracker Barrel restaurant not far north of here to meet with a couple of brothers that I have known for a long time. We all arrive in the parking lot only to find that the restaurant is closed, so Carl suggests that we go to Lupe Tortilla on Bay Area Boulevard a few miles north on IH 45. A short time later, Gerald, Carl and myself are sitting inside the Mexican restaurant eating chips and salsa and catching up on old times. Actually, Gerald and Carl are not good friends, even though they are acquainted.
When we are finished with our meal and visit, we all get into our vehicles and head back home, except myself, which I head back to the w-mart to continue pounding keys until after dark. Finally, I pack out of the cafe and drive to the space in the d-mart that I have been using to overnight and climb into the rear of the jammer.
Sunday, 27 February 2022, League City, TX.
(Day 286 TN) 41°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Journey On, Day Twelve
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and zoom meeting. The meeting begins at ten this morning and even though I attended the Harlingen meeting yesterday morning, I told Carl that I would see him today at the meeting, so I keep my word and join in the Bay Area Congregation for their weekend meeting.
One added bonus is that I get to see many of the long time close friends that I have not seen in a for a time, most likely years. I stay for both the public talk and the Watchtower study and then for a few minutes after. Just a few minutes after I disconnect from the zoom meeting, I get a reminder that the public meeting in Oak Harbor, Washington, which is having a circuit overseers visit, is about to begin. Too, I have not sat in on a talk given by a circuit overseer in a very long time, so I decide to, for the third time this weekend, join in to a meeting.
Upon joining the zoom meeting, I greet the friends and receive many in return. Too, I notice several people in attendance that I have not yet met. I listen to the public talk, Will there ever be a world without Hate? but do not stay for the Watchtower study having already gone through the study twice this weekend.
Afterwards, I go back into the w-mart for more key pounding and not until after dark do I pack out and drive to the d-mart for the night. Once I have backed into the parking spot, I put up my window shades and climb into the rear of the jammer for the evening.
Monday, 28 February 2022, League City, TX.
(Day 287 TN) 40°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Thirteen
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. About mid morning, an long time acquaintance walks in and I greet him hello. After he buys his coffee, he sits at the table right next to me and we talk for a long time. Too, I bring up the subject of the paradise earth and the Bible, which we talk about for a long time. He then bids me good bye, leaves the cafe and I resume the work that I have been doing.
Then, just after the sun sets, I pack out to search for something to eat, drive to the d-mart to park and eat my meal. Afterwards, I watch videos until somewhat late and then get into the horizontal.
Tuesday, 1 March 2022, League City, TX.
(Day 288 TN) 39°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Fourteen
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my winter blues, drive to the ff-mart for coffee and an egg wrap, and then drive to IH 45 and turn south. Soon, I drive over the Galveston causeway, then onto the island, southeast on Broadway street to the east end, drive past Stewart Beach and then drive to the ferry dock where I board the Bolivar ferry and ride it across to Bolivar Peninsula.
Upon driving off of the ferry, I continue east on SH 87 along a not so much developed beach road, really, no where near as over developed as west Galveston beach but still much more than the last time I drive this route. At the end of SR 87, I turn north on SR 124 and drive to Winnie Texas, then turn right on IH 10, drive east to Beaumont, Texas where I take exit 853A onto US 96 and where I drive north for some time, leaving the Western Gulf Coastal Plains and entering into the Pine Belt area of the South Central Plains ecoregion.
(Day 289 TN) 41°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Fifteen
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 31.300189, -94.729001
Elevation: 248 feet
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and park. After setting up my window shades, I walk inside with my computer bag for my daily dose of coffee, com and key pounding. After driving about 150 miles yesterday, I stop at the w-mart here in Lufkin, Texas with the idea of staying for a couple days. I like this way-stop because everything need as well as all the stores and restaurants that I frequent are very close by.
I stay inside and working on my website until after the sun sets, then I drive the short distance to the location where I overnight in the adjacent parking lot of the d-mart.
(Day 290 TN) 45°F. 8:00 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day Sixteen
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, dump my trash in the receptacle, drive to a very crowded w-mart, park and go inside for coffee, com and computer. It seems that even the small cities have become crowded with people and it is becoming harder to find a place that is comfortable any more.
I stay indoors all day and pound keys. After the sun sets, I leave and drive to the d-mart for the night. I will not stay here in this city much longer on this trip.
(Day 291 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Journey On, Day Seventeen
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive the af-mart to fill my gas tank and see that it has increased again overnight, now ten cents higher than when I first arrived here in Lufkin. Afterwards, I leave Lufkin to continue my drive through the Pine Belt area on US 59 north to Nacogdoches, then around the east loop to the north side of the city where I take the US 259 exit and continue north, where I see in a field to the east a heard of Plains′s zebras and stop to take photos. Afterwards, I continue to Henderson, Texas. Here I exit east on SH 43 and drive toward Tatum, Texas, however, before arriving at Tatum, upon seeing the state park sign, I that road to the left, drive into the park and pay for one night in the Bee Tree Loop for seventeen dollars.
Once I secure my campsite, I drive to the restroom and while I am outside of the jammer, a man who says his name is Alivia greets me and we begin talking about traveling to the state parks here in Texas. He readily accepts my card and asks if he can keep it. I even show him several pages on my website where I review the campsites. Before he leaves, I tell him that there is one more thing that I would like to share with him and get out my Bible. He says he is a Christian but non-religious. I show him a few scriptures which, shows the name of God, even shows that the earth will be a paradise but after about another ten minutes, he asks me, Are you one of Jehovah′s Witnesses? When I tell him that I am, he then forgets all those scriptures that I had just shown, resorts to saying that Jesus is God′s name and God will burn up the earth. He then tears my card in half and throws it on the ground in front of me. Methinks, wow, when the great tribulation arrives, is it going to be hard for these people who live here in the Piney Woods of Texas.
I return to my campsite, connect to the electric, set up my computer and begin pounding keys. Even though I have previously camped at this campsite, I have yet to review the campground for my web site, so I work on this project this evening.
Just before sunset, I drive to the shower house to get into the hot water and notice a scoutmaster in the campsite across the street. After my shower, I approach and greet the man, finding out his name is Mark, and we talk for a time. He tells me that the scout troop hiked onto the island and is camping there tonight, that he is camping with the cub scouts in the campsite and tomorrow morning, there will be a ceremony to welcome those cub scouts who are of age into the scout troop. I bid him fare well and then return to my campsite.
(Day 292 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am, light rain
Journey On, Day Eighteen
Martin Creek Lake State Park, campsite # 76
Coordinates: 32.276407, -94.573717
Elevation: 300 feet
Awake, dress in my summer blues, turn on my computer and finish working on the creation of the state park page and after completing it, I then update my journal entry. Once I have completed those projects, I then step outside to prepare my breakfast, after which, I climb back into the jammer to eat and continue pounding keys. Then at noon, I step outside unplug, roll up the extension cord, put it back in it′s place, then climb into the drivers seat and drive out of the state park and northeast on SH 43.
I then drive forty-five, including the loop around Marshall, Texas and then return back to US 59 north. Shortly after, just north of the loop, I locate a new w-mart and pull in to upload photos and files. I also call my friend Gordon and we talk for some time. Then, I drive out of the w-mart parking lot back onto north US 59 and drive another seventy miles to Texarkana, Texas where I pull into the w-mart on Richmond Road. I then connect to the internet and finish uploading my files and photos.
I continue here until seven this evening and then pack out to head to the burger place called What. Once I have food for the evening, I then drive to the d-mart where I park for the night.
Sunday, 06 March 2022, Texarkana, TX.
(Day 293 TN) 65°F. 8:00 am, light rain
Journey On, Day Nineteen
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 33.445038, -94.099409
Elevation: 319 feet
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Then, shortly after, I connect to the zoom meeting at Harlingen Congregation and greet all of the friends. After the meeting, when sent to a breakout room, I visit with the friends for a short time and then say good bye. Due a lack of necessary baristas working the cafe where I am is closed for inside dining, so I drive across town to the other cafe in town, the one on State Line Avenue. Too, is right next to a d-mart where I can overnight.
I arrive, carry my computer bag, walk inside, set up at one of the tables and resume pounding keys. When the dark night fills the sky, I leave for the w-mart for the night, a completely new for me to overnight at, find a nice place and park for the night.
Once I climb into the back of the jammer, I watch update number 2 from JW Broadcasting, which in doing so, I am very sleepy and decide that I will have to watch it again to get the most from it.
Monday, 07 March 2022, Texarkana, AR.
(Day 294 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Journey On, Day Twenty
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive closer to the entrance of the d-mart, park and then go inside to buy groceries for tonight at the campground. Next, I drive to the w-mart but do not go in for coffee, instead, drink my coconut milk and eat my cheese crackers. Also, I check com and watch another video. At ten-thirty this morning, I leave the w-mart, and back tract south on US 59 to Queen City, Texas and then turn right and drive west on SH FM 96 to SH FM 1154, then right again and north to the state park.
Upon arriving at the headquarters, I go inside and tell the ranger that I have pre-registered for a campsite. Once I have got that taken care of, I drive to my site, park and plug in. Later, I drive down to the shower house to take a hot shower, after which I return to the campsite and take a nap. Then at four this afternoon, I begin my supper preparation by first lighting a charcoal fire, then chopping and wrapping the food in foil.
At first, the charcoal would not get hot and I determined that the reason was because the ground was wet, which the charcoal when beginning to burn would heat the water, turn it to steam and the steam would douse the charcoal. I went back to the fire pit, cleared the charcoal and put a layer of aluminum foil on the ground. Then, I replaced the charcoal and put fire to it. This time, the process seemed to work and upon checking the food in order to flip it over, this time, I find the steam escaping out from under the foil into the air, missing the charcoal all together. However, when i go back after sufficient time for the meal to be done, the charcoal fire had gone out. I decide not to try to light it again and just eat the food partially cooked. I find the tuna steak to be good enough to eat even though I would have liked it to be a little hotter, however, the vegetable wrap was not even half cone and still very crunchy.
Still, I eat the vegetables the way they are. Tomorrow, I will not put the charcoal on the ground but use the raised grill to cook, which if that works, will confirm that the wet ground was the problem. If the charcoal still does not get hot, I will then know that the charcoal is bad for some reason.
I continue with my heater plugged in and running and do not get horizontal until about ten this evening.
Tuesday, 08 March 2022, Queen City, TX.
(Day 295 TN) 36°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Journey On, Day 21
Atlanta State Park, campsite # 44
Coordinates: 33.460654, -94.040427
Elevation: 362 feet
Awake to cold morning with the sun shining brightly and a mixture of song from several birds breaking the quite of morning. I don my winter blues, step out of the jammer, grab my bag of trash and walk down the hill to the dumpster and to visit the mens room. Then, upon returning to the jammer, I take a couple of photos of the campsite. I then get out my tea pot to boil water and make my Daystart The temperature remains in the 30s until ten and stays in the low 40s for the remainder of the day. I am glad to have my electric heater and a place to plug in.
Then at eleven, the clouds cover the sun and a light rain begins, which if continues will most likely eliminate all chance for a hot cooked meal today. However, when I check, the weather radar shows the squalls to be moving into Arkansas by six this evening which gives me hope that I might be able to step outside and cook with my stove, but I doubt that I will be able to light a charcoal.
When it is four this afternoon, the rain has completely ceased but as I suspected, the entire campsite is soaked. So, plan B goes into effect and I stir fry my vegetable in a skillet with olive oil after which I then add a little more oil and cook the tuna stake. After I put away my stove and cutting board, I then climb back into the jammer and while catching up on my journal writing for today, I enjoy my meal. After that, I pound keys for a few more hours before I get into the horizontal.

Journey On, Day 22
Atlanta State Park, campsite # 44
Awake, turn the heater to a higher setting, dress, and then turn on my computer to begin today′s journal entry. Once that has been done, then I continue to pound keys working on my website while waiting for the outside to warm up somewhat. Once the temperature is in the forties, unplug my electric cord and drive to the bathroom to empty my trash. Then, I drive out of the state park.
First I drive south on SH FM 96, then east on SH 77 to Atlanta, Texas, then south on US 59 to Linden, Texas and here turn west on SH 155. After I cross over Lake O′ the Pines, I turn south on US 259 and drive to Longview, Texas where I stop at a hg-mart for a new supply of dried fruit, cooked beets and a package of fresh blueberries. Too, all through this area, I have noticed that now, the gas price for unleaded is now four dollars or more.
The high prices that are now everywhere keep me thinking about the prophecy of the last days in the book of Revelation in chapter six, verse 6, where there are four voices announcing the four horsemen of the which were to begin there ride to bring war, famine and pestilence to all the earth. Right in the middle of the proclamation of famine, a voice stated: "a quart of wheat for a denarius and three quarts of wheat for a denarius." 1
The prophecy in Revelation continued to say, "and do not harm the olive oil and the wine.", both of which were considered necessities for life at that time.
Today, in our time, the prophecy about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse has been completely fulfilled, especially the black horse because the prices of all the things we need to exist have skyrocketed in our day. No, never have I seen the price of gasoline in Texas three dollars and almost never over two and a half dollars, and most years for the last decade, the cost of gasoline has never been more than two dollars, but all this month I have been seeing it above four dollars.
Jehovahjireh (Genesis 22:14) 2
Yes, the story about that place to which Abraham gave the above name, as well as the lesson provided from that account in the Bible helps all of Jehovah′s people today to rest assured that despite the fast rising cost of everything we need to survive, we have no need to fear, because says Revelation, chapter one, verse three: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
The book itself says that those who read, understand, and apply its message would be happy for doing so.
I stay inside the w-mart all day pounding keys and texting a couple of my friends. Then, after dark, I pack out, drive to the d-mart and park for the night.

Journey On, Day 23
Overnighting in a parking lot
Coordinates: 32.542702, -94.729240
Elevation: 363 feet
Awake, turn on the jammer engine to warm it up, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, carry my computer inside and resume the writing of my letter to my sibling. Then, just after nine this morning, I connect to the Harlingen ministry, say my greetings and continue writing my letter. Then, shortly after noon, the host logs off closing the zoom app, however, I continue working on my letter until nearly two in the afternoon.
Finally, I too stop, put away my ministry notebook and then resume work on my website. Upon looking at my calendar, I just found out that Spring Forward is this Sunday, 13 March 2022.
Later, I pack out and drive east on SH North 281 loop about one and a half miles back to the w-mart to park for the night. Instead of parking in the same place that I did last night, I find another parking space that is more to my liking and is closer to the outer edge of the d-mart parking lot.

Journey On, Day 25
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, turn on the engine and get back under the blankets after a three dog night. Still, I slept comfortably and then at eight this morning, I get dressed in my winter blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I continue inside the cafe all day until after it becomes dark.
Finally, I pack out, drive to the d-mart, park in my regular space and set up for my evening. I do not stay up as late as I am accustom to doing because the Spring Forward is tonight, which will shorten the time available for sleep.
(Day 300 TN) 36°F. 8:00 am, cloudy
Journey On, Day 26
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, turn on the jammer and climb back under the blankets to await the warmth and the alarm. When I arise, I dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, carry my computer bag inside, set up at my regular table and then go to the counter for coffee.
In a short time, I am connected to the Harlingen, Texas zoom meeting and greeting th friends, after which the meeting begins, which like usual, ends quickly, leaving me to resume my key pounding here at the cafe.
Also, like usual, I pound keys upon web page after page updating each from the template page with the new format.
Finally, when the sky becomes dark, I pack out, drive to the d-mart to park for the night, put up my window shades and then get into the rear of the jammer.

1
In the Bible, the gospels refer to the denarius, a Roman silver coin, as a day′s wage (12 hours) for a common laborer (Matthew 20:2, John 12:5). Then, in the Book of Revelation, after the opening of the Third Seal, announcing the Black Horse, a voice said that a quart (Greek: choinix, pronounced: khoy′-nix) of wheat and three quarts of barley were each valued at one denarius. It can also be noted that most scholars believe the size of the choinix to be about a liter or a U.S. dry quart. Therefore, since a denarius was a day′s wage in John′s time (Mt 20:1-12), the selling of grains at such high prices would indicate famine conditions.
2
"And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Jehovah, it shall be provided." (ASV) So, Fear Not! Our God will provide for all of our needs, even in the critical last days right before and though the Great Tribulation. (Matthew 24:21; Luke 21; 23; Revelation 7:14)
