QUIRE ELEVEN CHAPTER FOURTEEN
The Quest for the Solace, Part One

On Loving Neighbor as Self Go Down Go Up
Up Until Today!
Having journeyed to the west coast to retrieve my mail, to visit several of my long time friends and to help one family to get their 1972 Chevrolet pickup running, I next drive south to Oregon to use my recently renewed state park access pass for some free camping.
I go first to the Columbia River Gorge to camp but then moved to the coast where the campground is close to a w-mart and other stores that I have, for a long time, deemed necessary for my life.
After my ten free days of camping in Oregon for the month of May, I then pack out and head eastward back across the Great Basin Desert to the Red Desert, where I will take respite for a short time in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Then: On to the High Places
Upon leaving Rock Springs, I continue my Journey On to the Mountain in order to acquire a place to camp for my late spring hiatus.

So glad to see the sun this morning after such a rainy and dreary day that yesterday had become. Yes, the sun was shining into the jammer this morning and when I removed the windshield sunshades, there was a thick coating of moisture attached to the outside of the windshield, moisture still present in the air from the storm yesterday. I then drive to the w-mart, go inside for coffee and a spinach-feta wrap, then return to the jammer to eat, check com and pound keys.
In the afternoon, I begin creating a new post for my business social media page, which post redirects to my website, but I find there is more to do on the website before I can finish this post. I continue throughout the day pounding keys, often playing solitaire and when the sun sets, I retire to the jammer.

(Day Two TN) 45°F. 6:30 am, sunny, wind
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee and a wrap, return to the jammer to eat, check com and pound keys. Again, I just marking time in place here in Rock Springs, pounding keys, playing solitaire and waiting for the next zoom meeting. The after noon begins with the dry heat and then the clouds blow in and there is a light rain. I lie down to take a nap but do not sleep.
All afternoon, is in the horizontal and I do video watching until the sun sets, after which I drive to the d-mart to park for the night.
Thursday, 20 May 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day Three TN) 45°F. 6:30 am, sunny, wind
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and spinach wrap. Then, I sit inside to eat and connect to the internet to check com, after which, I walk back out to the jammer and set up my computer so that I may start my journal entry and connect to the letter writing ministry meeting in Harlingen. At ten, I leave the Texas meeting and zoom to Washington to join the meeting in the Oak Harbor congregation. Then after two more hours in the letter writing work, I finish another stack of mail.
At noon, I leave the w-mart and drive to the recreation center here in Rock Springs to get into a hot shower. The price is still #2.50 for seniors but here in the desert, that is still a good price for hot water. Afterwards, I return to the w-mart and connect with Gordon on the phone for a time. Then, my alarm goes off reminding me that I have a meeting tonight. So we say goodbye and I resume my study for the meeting tonight.
Just after six this evening, I connect to the midweek zoom meeting in Harlingen, Texas and greet the friends. Now, normally I would not have to attend this midweek meeting because I will be attending an assembly this Sunday with the Oak Harbor Congregation, however, the Texas congregation does not know that and I do not say anything, but just enjoy the meeting. Afterwards, I say goodbye, start the jammer and drive to the d-mart across the street
Friday, 21 May 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day Four TN) 41°F. 6:30 am, partly cloudy, wind
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, walk in for a cup of coffee and return to the jammer for com and computer. I then connect my GPS to my computer so that I can upgrade the software and maps, which take all day until late into the afternoon before it completes. Wow, I am glad that I was able to upgrade the devise even though it took all day. All through the upgrade, I was not able to use my computer because each time I tried, the GPS disconnected and I had to restart it
At four, I reinstall the GPS on the windshield mount, done with the upgrade and then return to my computer to resume pounding keys, but even so, I do not get much done by way of web site updates. At six, the dark clouds blow in and the light rain begins once again.
Saturday, 22 May 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day Five TN) 37°F. 6:30 am, mostly sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee and hot water. Then, I return to the jammer to make a cup of Daystart and sit in the jammer and while eating, I check com, but I still can not connect to the web server, now for the fourth days.
At nine this morning, I connect with the Texas ministry meeting and begin working on my next set of letters, staying with them for nearly two hours. Then, I connect to the Washington ministry meeting and finish off the morning with the friends here. Afterwards, I return to my journal writing while outside the dark rain clouds are moving into Rock Springs again bringing afternoon showers. It has not yet begun raining but I can feel the temperature dropping quickly.

Awake, turn off the alarm and go back to sleep for another hour. When I do get up, I dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, walk inside with my computer bag and set up my computer at a table. Then, I walk up to the counter and purchase a cup of coffee. Next, I turn on my computer to check com, after which I get ready for the circuit assembly which will begin my time at ten this morning, which I still have over an hour and a half so I work on my web site while waiting. Then, at ten, I am ready and waiting for the assembly to begin, notebook and pen in hand and then it begins with music.
Immediately, I am overwhelmed with joy from the excitement of being so blessed by Jehovah God. I continue with this Local Live Streamed Assembly, a very first of it′s kind, and what a grand blessing from Jehovah and exactly what we all needed. The program ends shortly after five-ten pm my time.
Outside, the wind is still blowing, the temperature is fifty- two degrees and the world continues to pursue all it′s things. I leave the w-mart, drive to the ff-mart in search of nachos and remember that I need to buy a couple of thank you cards for some of those in the brotherhood that have shown kindnesses to me.
At nine this evening, I park in the d-mart parking lot and climb into the back of the jammer to rest for the night.
Monday, 24 May 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day Seven TN) 35°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake to another cold morning, rise, start the jammer engine and cover back up until the it warms up. Then, I drive to w-mart for a free coffee using my rewards, after which, I pack out of Rock Springs, Wyoming and resume my journey to my summer hiatus.
I drive first to Rawling, Wyoming to fill my fuel and find it to be five cents less than it was in Rock Springs, a fact that I have found many times. I fill up and then continue east on IH to exit 235, where I leave the interstate and drive south on SH 130, which after traveling twenty miles, arrive in Saratoga, Wyoming. Here, I leave the state highway and drive east on Walnut avenue to the North Plate river where I park the jammer, grab my day pack and load it with clean clothes and my shower bag. Then, I walk back to the Hobo Hot springs, more commonly known as the Saratoga hot springs, and get into the hot water for a long soak.
Then, after about an hour, I get out of the hot sulphur smelling water, walk into the shower room for a hot shower with city water, put on my clean clothes and drive out of the hot springs site. I then drive further south on SH 130 another seven and a half miles to were SH 130 turns left and departs from SH 230 and heads east up into the Snowy Range mountains. One of the men that I had talked to at the hot springs said that he just had driven on this highway and that it was open all the way.
I had really hoped to have found a site that I could stop for the night, but the side roads were all still covered in snow making camping unlikely. I do stop at many places for photos and then at Libby Flats for the three-sixty view. I then continue down the east side onto the plateau, across it to Laramie, Wyoming where I stop at the w-mart to check for a connection to my server. Not only do I not have a connection but the w-mart is closed for inside access, and only open for drive through. After a couple of hours of pounding keys, I leave the w-mart, drive to the d-mart east of town and park for he night. Here, I also go inside to purchase some fruits and vegetables, and a loaf of sprouted bread. I am able to call Gordon and we talk for a time.
Finally, I turn off the electronics for the evening and get into the horizontal.

Awake, drive to the ag-mart to purchase fuel and find the same jewel of a station with regular gas for $2.67 a gallon, the least that I have paid since I left Texas months ago. I then, connect to IH 80, drive west for a few miles and then exit at the US 287 exit, turn south and drive out of Wyoming and into Colorado. I keep driving south on US 287 until I arrive in Fort Collins where I stop at the firs w-mart, connect to the internet and find that here, I can connect to my web site server, so I upload all of my files and photos to the web site. I spend the entire day pounding keys outside in the jammer because the w-mart does not allow dine in but allows walking in to purchase items as well as using the rest room.
I also talk with Gordon for some time about him trying to sell his Dodge van and how there are so many people who just want to look at it but not buy. Later, John from Oak Harbor calls to as me to re-write his and Julene′s wills. I agree and tell him that I do not have the old documents, that I will need photos of the old one. From the photos, I am able to complete entirely new wills for both John and Julene, and update the dispersion like he had wanted. It does take me several hours, but this will save him a lot of money to do it any other way. When he tells me that he is willing to pay me, I tell him that I am no longer working for money, that there is no charge for the work. So, I write up two complete documents and then print out pdf files, send them to him for him to print and for him to retain so that if he ever has to do this again, he can just send me the pdf files for me to make correction to it.
Then, I go back to my key pounding for the web site and work until the sun begins to drop to the horizon. Then, I leave Fort Collins and drive north on US 287 in search of a rest stop along the highway, but when I come to a rest stop, I find that it is closed. So, I drive further north on US 287 until I arrive at a pull out along both sides of the highway where there are several trucks parking. I pull over, park on the east side and climb into the back for the night.
I do take photos of the full moon which is so very bright that it take several tries for the camera to focus. Too, I hope to get up early tomorrow morning to be able to watch the total eclipse of the moon.

Upon arising before five this morning, I immediately look out the window and see that the sky is totally overcast with clouds and determine that there will be no eclipse for me this morning. I dress in my summer blues and drive back into Fort Collins to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I am working on the ecoregions which are subregions of the Geographical Regions and I have been trying to devise some sort of numbering system. I started with a numerical system but after doing several state maps, found this system to be in conflict with the Geographical Regions. This is when methought that I can number subsequent ecoregions with letters. For instance the Pacific Coast Ranges Geographic Region has many ecoregions such as the Olympic Mountains in Washington and I am going to name that one ecoregion 1A.
Before I can begin to make the changes, I realize that it is time for me to go to the laundry mart and do a much needed wash. The wash goes quite quickly and soon, I am clean and back on the road, heading to Loveland where Gordon is working on his RV. We meet at the library and then I follow him to the alley where he has it parked. He gives me the tour and afterwards, I leave to look for a place to park for the night.
I drive first to the d-mart but it has a number of signs stating: No Overnighting. I leave that location and drive to a w-mart were I access the internet for a short time, then look nearby and find a secluded spot, that is near to the w-mart and other stores. I park, turn off the jammer and climb into the back to get horizontal.

Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com and then a time later, connect to the Harlingen ministry meeting where I write letters with the friends in Texas. Then, at ten-thirty this morning, I zoom to the Oak Harbor ministry meeting and continue my morning of letter writing with the friends in Washington.
After five hours, I then turn my attention to the work on my website, which I continue doing for the rest of the day. When the sun sets, I wrap up and drive back to the same spot to spend the evening. It is quite here in this location deep within this large metropolis.
Friday, 28 May 2021, Loveland, CO.
(Day Eleven TN) 48°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and text with Gordon who is trying to sell his van. I have offered, if he does sell it, to stay in town to pick him up and drive him back to the RV. Later, I drive to the library and find him sitting in his van waiting for the buyer, who does not show up. We both stay there for some time before we depart and head to our spaces, his to where the RV is located and mine back to the w-mart where I have been overnighting for a few days.
I have decided to stay in the city until late Monday because this weekend is a holiday week end and drive to the national forest would only find the city dwellers there in large numbers. So, since I have found a quite some what secluded place within this megalopolis, I will endure it here for a while longer. At dark-thirty, I retreat to my overnighting space.
Saturday, 29 May 2021, Loveland, CO.
(Day Twelve TN) 52°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive into the car wash next door and wash off the dust that has accumulated while here in this city, then drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. At nine this morning, I zoom to Harlingen and work on letter writing with my Texas brothers and sisters, I continue there until just before eleven this morning and next zoom to the Oak Harbor congregation to work with the friends there until one this afternoon,
After the ministry, I then return to working on the region maps for a couple of hours and then Gorgon, who is out shopping in the same shopping center calls and lets me know that he will stop to visit for a while. We do visit while both sitting in our own van and pounding keys. He leaves at about four this afternoon as I remain and continue to pound keys until it becomes dark when I retire to my overnight space in the back of the car wash.
Sunday, 30 May 2021, Loveland, CO.
(Day 013 TN) 46°F. 8:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake by my alarm and see that it had begun to rain sometime last night and it continues to rain now, but lightly, so I sleep a bit longer. When I awake again, I dress, drive to the w-mart and the rain increases for a while to a hard rain. I walk inside to purchase a large cup of coffee with a breakfast wrap and then return to the jammer to eat and to begin my journal entry. When I have caught up on journal writing, I begin my study of the Bible in preparations of the meeting today, finishing about an half hour before he meeting begins, so I play a game of solitaire or two.
When the meeting in Oak Harbor gets close to beginning, I zoom to the congregation and take my place in the squares, giving greeting out to the friends. Soon, the meeting begins and there is a visiting speaker from North Carolina who gives the public talk and after that we then go into the Bible study about loving God, our brothers and even our enemies. Finally, I say good bye to the friends and return to my work on the region maps. Later, Gordon stops by and we talk, during which he tells me that he has someone who wants to buy his van today and he is meeting the woman at two in the afternoon.
I then depart the w-mart and go to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then back to the w-mart afterwards, where I spend the rest of the day pounding keys doing various things. At nine-fifteen, I leave and drive to my overnight parking space to retire.
Monday, 31 May 2021, Loveland, CO.
(Day 014 TN) 46°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I stay here for most all the morning and visit with my two congregations for the letter writing ministry. After the morning ministry I then drive to the library and meet Gordon to look at a few things on his RV.
In the late afternoon, I leave the library parking lot, return to the w-mart to pound keys for a time more. Then after dark-thirty I drive to the parking space for the night.
(Day 015 TN) 47°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive, coffee, com, pound keys. Later, I talk with Gordon and he says that he has sold his Dodge van and that he is going to Estes Park tomorrow but has to come back in two days because he has an appointment to have his RV looked at by a mechanic. I sure hope that the mechanic gives him a thumbs up because he really needs a break.
I continue working on my web site updating the region maps, which is taking a lot longer than I thought that it would, but that is alright with me because when I have some days off, I can not think of anything else I would want to do. At dark-thirty, I drive to my parking space and park for the night.

The Spring Sojourn, Upon the Mountain Go Down Go Up
Late Spring Hiatus
Once outfitted with food and supplies for an extended stay, I then drive up to the wilderness to a very familiar location and wait for my friend Gordon to arrive.
(Day 016 TN) 51°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I continue this morning doing the same work until noon, when I upload the files. Then after that, I drive to the dollar store for more water. At about two this afternoon, I drive up into the mountains and head for Red Feather Lakes, arriving at three-thirty today and park the jammer in the same camp location where I was last year. Next I check the signal strength on my phone to find four bars as well as data signal which means that I will be able to zoom from this location. I was really hoping that I could get good signal from my hot spot phone with the new unlimited service that I have recently acquired. Then, I, climb into the back and take a nap. Finally, I am back in to wilderness and a hummingbird buzzes me to let me know he wants nectar.
Later, when I rise, I step outside to walk about and soon after, watch the sun low on the horizon through the forest and the day ending. I find that it is comfortably cool here this evening at this Red Feather dispersed camping area.
(Day 017 TN) 45°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day One
Elevation: 8705 feet

Awake to a comfortable morning, dress in my summer blues and step out, open the rear lift gate to retrieve my stove and tea pot. Then, I set them up on one of my stools and start the stove to boil water and upon seeing steam escaping the spout hole, I pour the hot water into my three cups, one that I have put two tea bag, another two servings of instant coffee and the third, my Daystart.
I return back inside and enjoy my breakfast while I connect with the Harlingen ministry meeting and continue with the friends in Texas for over two hours before I bid them farewell so that I can next zoom to the Oak Harbor ministry meeting. Likewise, I stay with the friends in Washington for more than another two hours. After my time with the two congregations, I then disconnect from the zoom meeting and resume pounding keys with my web site.
I do talk with Gordon in the late afternoon and after that, I step outside to take a hot shower with the water that I had heated with my plastic solar water heating bag. I had used only one gallon and find that this was more than enough for a bucket bath. In fact, it was actually more than I needed and just enjoyed the extra hot water by pouring it over my head.
Next, I dry myself off and put on clean clothes, then I climb back into the jammer and resume my key pounding. Later, I watch some Bible videos, then turn off the devices and get into the horizontal.
Friday, 04 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 018 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Two
The perfect day repeats itself. First boil water, make my three cups of liquid and food, then climb into the jammer to turn on the hot spot phone and the computer. I was really impressed yesterday with the good reception that I received while connecting to the two ministry meetings. So much so, that this is making me rethink my phone service needs. I could just keep the unlimited phone service as my only service and drop my ten cents a minute plan entirely, but I will not make that decision until later this year. I have had the ten cents plan ever since purchasing my first phone and I have been grand-fathered in even when newer plans kept increasing their rate, it now being twenty-five cents a minute.
Saturday, 05 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 019 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Three
I start my morning by waking long before the alarm goes off, rise, walk to the latrine that I dug yesterday, and after wards, return to begin my morning routine. First, set up the cook pot, start the stove, then put on a pot of water to boil and while waiting, prepare my two cups of hot and a cup of daystart, and today, I use fresh blueberries instead of the powder ones. When my meal is finished, I carry it to put it inside the office area and then return to put the kitchen away. Leaving the rear lift gate up, I return to my office and begin eating.
Soon after, I turn on the computer, zoom to Harlingen for the ministry meeting and begin my letter writing. I repeat the same procedure that I have been doing for many moons now, spending time first in Texas and then zooming to Washington to spend time with the friends in Oak Harbor. After a full five hours in the ministry, I leave Garth and disconnect from the zoom app.
For reasons unknown to me, I have not been feeling my best, instead, I have been having a loose bowel movement and not somewhat bad in my stomach. So, I do not cook this afternoon and just have some raw fruit and vegetables. I also drink a container of coconut milk. I do get out my floor jack and lift up the rear drivers wheel, hanging it low so that I can install the rubber bushings into the coil spring in an effort to return the original level of the left rear end. I had purchased them a year ago but have just not got around to installing them. It does look like the bushings have helped some with the level.
In the late afternoon, dark clouds blow in and soon after, it begins to rain but it does not hail like I would have expected.
Most of the remainder of the afternoon is passed by resting and I turn in around nine this evening to read and possible watch a video or two.
Sunday, 06 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 020 TN) 50°F. 8:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Four
Awake purposely late, rise, walk first to the latrine, return and begin my normal morning meal preparations, after which I climb into the jammer turn on the computer and then use my phone to connect to the Harlingen, Texas congregation for the morning ministry meeting. Then, I stay with the friends and write letters until noon, after which I disconnect to have some celery and almond butter sticks while I finish my study of the Watchtower. One hour later, I reconnect to the Harlingen congregation for the week end meeting and listen to a talk from a visiting speaker from Padre Island, Texas.
After the study, I disconnect from the zoom meeting and then begin pounding keys on my computer to do more work on the web site. Than at five this afternoon, the sky clouds up and I begin to hear thunder and later, a rain shower begins but only lasts a half of an hour. I keep looking outside for a rainbow, like I did yesterday afternoon. However, the shower today just is not as heavy nor as long. Gordon calls and we talk for an hour and then I go back to the computer and pound keys until dark.
I finally climb into the back and go to sleep.
Monday, 07 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 021 TN) 48°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Five
I sleep in again this morning, and when I awake is it very windy so I do not get out my stove to boil water, instead, I open a can of coconut milk to drink and also eat a package of cooked beets. Then, I pound keys for a time. Then, at noon, I have a nut butter sandwich with fresh blue berries with water, after which I lie down on my sleeping birth hoping to get a short nap but my phone rings and it is Joe from Tennessee saying hello. We talk for a while I tell him that we can do this on zoom, to which he said that he thought he would have to buy an account to do this. I tell him, No, actually, zoom is free for the starting account and it only costs if you upgrade to the full version.
I then tell him that I will hang up, start a meeting and then send him an invite by email. All he will have to do is click on the link that comes in the email. We hang up, I set up the meeting and send him the invite and soon, we are both on our phones talking with video on a zoom meeting for some time and then say good bye.
Next, I return to the computer to pound keys and then the clouds in the east begin to darken again as the temperature drops and it looks like it is going to rain again this afternoon but the dark clouds and only leave a few drops before they dissipate. I then download the June broadcast from JW.org and lie down to watch the video. After wards, I turn off my computer and lie down to read for a while.
The nights are very quite here and all that can be heard is the wind blowing, which it often does. Another family came in today and set up to camp and I walked over to say hello.
Tuesday, 08 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 022 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear blue
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Six
After a very comfortable night, I awake to a very comfortable morning and immediately begin my daily routine. Soon, I have a cup of hot, something to eat, and keys to pound. Today, I go back to working on the Geographical Regions maps and complete all on the northwest section maps.
Wednesday, 09 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 023 TN) 52°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Seven
Awake, dress, open up the jammer to let the cool air in, turn on my computer and begin my journal entry for today. At eight, this morning, I then pack out and drive to town for, first my coffee and breakfast. When I finish eating, I then begin shopping for supplies, acquiring spring water, toilet paper, napkins, writing tablet, stove fuel, a ten inch skillet, coconut milk, almond butter, dried fruit, fresh ginger, celery, shredded carrots, blueberries, nuts, hemp seed, ground flax, and instant coffee. I have to go to three store for these supplies and then, I stops at a liquor store for a bottle of Everclear, which I use for hand cleaner.
Finally, I stop and fill up the fuel tank on the jammer, after which I drive back up 3,700 feet in elevation to the camp site where I take out my solar panels and set them up. Once that is done, I then have my lunch after which, I begin putting away all the supplies and cleaning up my home somewhat. Then, at seven this evening, I step outside and have a bucket bath to clean all the sweat and stink acquired by driving into town where the temperature was quite hot.
After putting on clean clothes, I then climb back into the jammer, and finish my journal entry for this Wednesday. I has been a long day and I have accomplished much. I did talk with Gordon today, who tells me that the brake repair shop found nine hundred dollars needed repair on the front brakes. Needless to say, he is disappointed with his vehicle acquisition.

Awake at the din of the alarm, rise, put on my t-shirt and step out to begin my breakfast. I notice how nice the outdoors are here above 8700 feet, cool in the morning and warm enough in the afternoon to take a bucket shower. I have been here now for one week and did not think that I would stay this long, especially since my camp mate Gordon has been dealing with his RV and detained down below in the city all this week. But that short trip down yesterday to resupply showed me just how hot it is in that city, one with an elevation of just below 5000 feet and that trip only increased my want to remain longer here at this higher altitude in the Red Feather Lakes forest, because the weather here it is so much more to my liking. However, the longer that I remain on the mountain here, the further north I will have to travel when I do depart from Red Feather.
When the water boils, I pour it into the three cups that I have prepared, first the Daystart then the coffee and finally the tea and immediately notice that one of the bags has broken. Instead of pouring out the loose tea leaves, I leave them to steep and in time they will drop to the bottom. I then climb into the jammer office and notice that it is six-forty this morning and methinks, That did not take long to make breakfast! Actually, it never does take long to prepare.
Next, I turn on my computer to check my com and begin the journal entry for today. At eight this morning, I get out my letter writing gear and begin with addressing envelopes. Soon after, I zoom to the Harlingen congregation and connect with the letter writing group.

(Day 025 TN) 45°F. 7:00 am, sunny and clear blue
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Nine (Pancake Day)
Awake, don my t-shirt, step out onto the carpet to put on my shoes and then walk to the rear lift gate to get out my kitchen. First, I put my tea pot on to boil water to make coffee and tea, then, I put the tea pot away and get out my skillet and cook pot. After mixing the ingredients for the batter, I rub the skillet with olive oil and then pour in the batter. I use the ingredients for Coconut Pancakes, however, I added some fresh blueberries which I believe is the reason that the pancakes were too moist. Not the best cakes that I have ever had. After eating, I clean up and stow away the kitchen, then climb into my office and resume my work on the computer.

(Day 026 TN) 43°F. 7:00 am
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Ten
Awake, dress in my summer blues, open the jammer and begin break preparations. Once the meal is ready, I climb back into the office, turn on my computer and then zoom to Harlingen, Texas for the ministry meeting this morning. Later, I then zoom to Oak Harbor, Washington for the ministry meeting there and stay with them until noon when I see Gordon backing his RV into the space next to mine. I say good bye to my friends in Washington, leave the zoom meeting and then step outside to welcome Gordon to the forest. He then gets out his hummingbird feeders and I help him hang the two feeders, one on the side near my van and anther on the opposite side near his kitchen window. Then, he gets out the five gallons of water that he purchased for me and I stow them in my van. I then take a photo of the two vans in the forest.
After this, we sit at his kitchen table and talk for over an hour and then I excuse myself to return to my vehicle to resume pounding keys. Later, he comes over and sits on my stool and we talk some more. It is good to have him back on the mountain camping in the same location.
At sunset, he leaves camp and take a walk in the woods and I do not see him for some time. At ten then evening, I shut down my electronics and prepare for sleep.
Sunday, 13 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 027 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Eleven
Awake, dress in my summer blues, step out of the jammer and open the rear lift door. Then, I get out my tea pot and begin boiling water for hot drinks. Gordon has told me that he is having trouble with a bladder infection so I offer him a cup of Melaleuca tea and tell him that the tea work as good on the inside as the oil does on the outside for skin problems. If he likes the tea, I am going to give him a box of the tea. He then gives me a plate of bacon and blueberry pancakes. I return to my office to eat and to connect to the Harlingen ministry meeting.
After the ministry, I have my lunch and then connect back to the Harlingen congregation for the week end meeting. Then when the meeting is over, I see that Gordon is back for a long bicycle ride and asks me to join him for some watermelon. We sit outside in the shade between the two vans to enjoy the fresh melon. After eating, the sky turns dark and a small shower begins to fall so we both retreat into each our van and wait the rain out. However, it does not last long at all but I stay in the jammer to pound keys until dark at which time Gordon walks over and we look at the stars for a time, still waiting for the sunset light to completely fade.
Once we Identify the big dipper, we then call it a night and head for the sack.
Monday, 14 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 028 TN) 54°F. 7:00 am
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Twelve
Awake, open up the jammer and step outside to begin my morning meal, then Gordon comes over to talk with me so I eat my Daystart outside sitting on a stool. At nine, he goes into his van to connect to the ministry meeting and I climb into the jammer to begin writing today′s journal entry. A short time later, Gordon mounts his bicycle and heads into Red Feather village to purchase a bag of ice. I remain here to pound keys and because it has been the hottest day here thus far, into the mid eighties, I am just not very hurry.
So I continue working until six when it comes to me that I should make soup. I then open up the jammer, stove and cook pot and begin gathering what food items that I have, a quart of bone broth, a yellow onion, fresh garlic, sprouted quinoa, dried seaweed, a can of coconut milk and some of my spice mix.
I put fire to the stove and then start with the bone broth, putting it into the cook post. As the broth heats up, I cut up the onion, seaweed and ginger. Once the broth is beginning to boil, I add the chopped onion, seaweed and ginger, cover the pot and turn the heat down to low. When the boil returns, I add the quinoa and the spice mix and put the lid back on the pot and let it cook for another five minutes. Next, I open the can and then pour all of the coconut oil into the cook pot, stir and return the lid to the pot and let it return to boiling once more. When the soup returns to a boil, I call Gordon and tell him that the soup is ready and turn off the stove.
Earlier, Gordon had agreed to taste my soup and I put about one third of a cup into a bowl and he begins to eat. He tells me that he likes it, it is good but a little bland. He then tells me that bland is just fine because he is trying to get used to bland. I will add this recipe to my cook pot recipes. However, because I had forgot that I had dried tomatoes, I will make the soup again this weekend and then add the tomatoes, maybe even some olive oil. Gordon leaves to go for a walk and I clean up my kitchen.
Once I have put away the kitchen, I retreat into the jammer to escape the reach of the mosquitoes, turn on the computer and record the rest of the journal entry for this day. Then at ten this evening, I turn my computer off, get into the horizontal and use my phone to read for a while.

(Day 029 TN) 57°F. 6:30 am
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Thirteen
Awake to a warm morning, the second in a row and expect it to rise into the mid-eighties again. I then smell bacon cooking, step out of the jammer and walk to Gordon′s van to find him awake and cooking breakfast. I open his drivers door and greet him good morning. He then tells me that he will have some bacon for me real soon. We continue talking and then he hands me a plate with several strips of bacon and I thank him, then, I walk back to the jammer finish making my breakfast. When the meal is complete, I climb back inside, shut the door to keep out the mosquitoes and begin writing my journal entry for today.

(Day 030 TN) 50°F. 7:50 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Fourteen
Gordon knocking on the door awakens me this morning as I had turned off the alarm to sleep longer and he hands me my daily dose of bacon. He had bought extra but because of it being so warm up here on the mountain, his ice is melting faster than he expected and he does not want the meat to go bad. I step out, open up the rear lift door, get out my kitchen and begin morning meal preparations.

(Day 031 TN) 55°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Fifteen
Awake, step outside to open the rear lift door and begin my morning meal preparations. When the meal is done, I climb back into the jammer, put up the window shades, turn on my data phone and connect to the zoom meeting in Harlingen. Then at seven-fifty the app opens and the friends begin to occupy their square. At nine, the host begins the ministry meeting discussion, after which the host prays for Jehovah′s blessing on my ministry.
I continue in Texas until ten and then zoom to Oak Harbor for the ministry meeting discussion here and stay here until one this afternoon. After leaving the ministry meeting, I then pack up all of my gear into the jammer for a trip to town for Gordon to buy some ice for his coolers. It is only a short drive, about two miles round trip and we are back before an hour has past.
Once we are back, I return the solar panels into their place in the sun while he fills one of my water bottles with ice so I can have some iced drinks. What a treat! I choose to ice down some coconut milk. I climb back into my office seat and resume pounding keys until five when I go back to my study for the meeting tonight.
Then, at six-ten this evening, I zoom to Harlingen, Texas for the meeting. Afterwards, I return to my computer and complete today′s journal entry.

Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Sixteen
Awake at six this morning but go back to sleep for another hour, then rise, open the jammer and begin preparing my morning meal. When the meal is ready, I climb back into the jammer and turn on my data phone so that I can connect to the zoom meeting in Texas. After a couple hours with the Harlingen congregation, I then zoom to Washington and connect to the Oak Harbor ministry meeting, again, after a few hours there, I disconnect form the ministry meeting and turn off my devices.
Saturday, 19 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 033 TN) 55°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Seventeen
Awake, open the rear lift door but do not get out my kitchen right away because of the hight winds this morning, but instead, just climb back into the jammer and begin pounding keys. Soon, I see Gordon up and in his kitchen, so I walk over to his RV to see how he is doing and he hands me a plate with bacon on it and says, The pancakes will be ready in five minutes. I tell him that I did not start my stove because it is too windy and he say, I have hot water on the stove, help yourself. I thank him and walk back to the jammer to sip on the coffee and eat the bacon. Wow, what a treat! A little later, he calls out that the pancakes are ready, so I walk to his RV and carry the pancakes back to the jammer to continue my meal. I have for a long time been using Elderberry liquid as my syrup on pancakes and after I pour some on each of the pancakes, I take my bottle to Gordon and tell him, Help your self.
Returning to the jammer, I continue working on my computer until nine this morning, when I connect to the Harlingen, Texas ministry meeting and work with for three hours, which is about as long as the group stays online. I then try to connect to the Oak Harbor, Washington ministry meeting but I just can not get connected, so I finish up what I am working on and stop for the day.
Then, I take a bucket bath, after which I begin working on my pantry to organize it and count the number of packages that I have of each item. Doing this will provide me with a shopping list for Wednesday when I go down off the mountain. Once my pantry is well organized, I return to pounding keys and working on my website. Earlier, yesterday, my data service provider stopped my hotspot service because the service only provides 30 GB of hotspot. I know that I used much more than that amount.
Too, yesterday, the weekend warriors began filling up this dispersed camping area and today, with still more coming in, the place is packed now. I will be so glad when tomorrow afternoon arrives and these lowlanders will head back down the mountain leaving it quiet once again. I have decided that I will only stay until Wednesday morning when I will drive off the mountain down to the city and do my resupply shopping. After I complete the shopping, I will either return to this camp for one more night, or I might just drive up to Laramie, Wyoming and overnight in a parking lot because the drive from Fort Collins, where I will be doing my shopping, is only a little over an hour drive to the place where I will overnight. Too, not far from where I will be is a low price af-mart where I will stop to fill up my gas tank. I could even stop at the w-mart the next morning to upload all of my work to the web site.
Well, it looks like that I have a route to take when I leave Red Feather Lakes dispersed camping. I then go over to Gordon′s RV and we talk for nearly an hour, after which, I return to update my journal entry.

(Day 034 TN) 47°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Summer Solstice
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Eighteen
Awake, open up the jammer and get out my stove and tea pot to prepare my breakfast. Once the water begins to boil, I pour the hot water into my three cups and then climb back into the jammer to do my study for today′s meeting while sipping on my coffee and eating my Daystart. A little later, I watch the pandemic updater number five. Afterwards, I finish my study for today and then walk over to talk with Gordon until nine this morning and invite him to join me for the meeting. Then, I return to the jammer, rearrange my living room to accommodate two people to join the meeting, then turn on the computer, and connect to the Oak Harbor Congregation for the weekend meeting. Gordon arrives a little later and when the friend begin to arrive I introduce Gordon to those in Oak Harbor. Finally, we say good bye and turn off the zoom app.
I then put my home back into order, clean out my trash can and reorganize my possessions once more to better accommodate all my many things. Then after burning my trash, I make a nut butter and blueberry sandwich with the last slices of bread, after which I sit at my computer to pound keys while I eat my lunch. In the late afternoon with all of the weekend warriors headed down the mountain, the quietness of the forest once again prevails in the moment. The cloudy sky has kept the temperature from rising and later, at about four this afternoon, the rain begins to come down, light at first, then a little harder and continues for the rest of the day.
I continue inside the jammer the rest of the day pounding keys to work on my website and update the geographic regions pages and maps. Then, not long after it becomes dark, I retire to under the blank to read in the Bible.
Monday, 21 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 035 TN) 41°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Nineteen
Today begin quite cold, the coldest it has been during all nineteen days here on the mountain. Gordon cooks pancakes and sausage this morning and gives me a plate which I eat with the coffee that I have just made. After eating, I walk over to Gordon′s van, sit at his board and we talk until about nine. When I step down from his van, I say out loud, The sun is out! Too, I notice that the because the sun is shining through the clouds, the temperature has been climbing fast, fifty degrees by nine and fifty-five by ten this morning.
So, with the rear lift door and the side sliding door both open, I sit inside in my summer blues and pound keys to update my journal. Later, I resume my work on the Geographical Regions maps and ecoregions.
At three this afternoon, I stop to take a bucket bath and put on clean clothes. Then, I get out my stove and cook a pot of soup, my new recipe with bone broth and coconut milk. I really like this new recipe and will try several versions during the next month or so. Then, while eating, I continue my work on the website.
By the time I stop for the evening, I have completed the first three and begin working on the fourth one. I turn off the electronics and get into the horizontal for the night.
Tuesday, 22 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 036 TN) 54°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Twenty
Awake, open up the jammer and then turn on the computer to begin my journal entry. With the wind blowing very hard this morning, I forego getting out my stove and just drink water. I then turn on my computer and resume working on my website. Later, I have the leftover soup for my first meal, then I have nuts and dried fruit for my second meal today.
Also, Gordon walks over and sits with me to talk for long periods throughout the day but then he gears up and heads out on foot for a walk lasting several hours. When he returns in the late afternoon, he cuts open his third watermelon, gives me half and we eat the ripe fruit while talking.
Our day ends when he says to me that the full moon is out tonight, but I tell him that it is not until Thursday that the moon will be full. I go onto my data phone and show him that the full moon is at 2:40 pm on Thursday, two days from now. It is after dark when we say good night and depart to the insides of our vans. I stay up for a little while longer to finish what I was doing and then turn off the electronics and get into the horizontal.
Wednesday, 23 June 2021, Red Feather Lakes, Roosevelt NF, CO.
(Day 037 TN) 55°F. 7:00 am, cloudy and windy
Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Twenty-one
Awake, open up the jammer, and then begin preparing it for my travel today. I remove all of the stowed plastic bottles and trash from the drivers seat and place it into the back of the van so that I can drive. Then, I turn on the computer to begin my journal entry for today and when that is complete, I finish packing my thinks into their place so that I can head for Fort Collins to resupply my pantry.
Arriving in the city by nine, I stop first at a hg-mart to purchase organic fruit and vegetables. I then travel to a second hg-mart for more of the organic foods and afterwards, I stop at one of my bank branches here in Fort Collins and withdraw several hundred dollars to replace that which I had just spent. After the bank stop, the temperature here in the city has risen to the mid nineties and I then seek a place to get out of the hot outside air.
After driving to the w-mart on US 287, I park outside the front door, grab my computer bag and go inside out of the heat to find it comfortably cool inside the coffee shop. I sit here for some time until the man sitting in the chair next to me turns and asks, How are you doing today? In the conversation that follows, I find out that he is Paul and is 81 years old. I then steer the conversation to the Bible and God to which he asks me, How do you know what God your are talking about because all the religions have a different God that they worship. To answer him, I take out the King James Bible that I have in my computer bag, turn to Psalm 83, point to the eighteenth verse and ask him to read it. Next, I ask him, What do the Psalm say about the God of the Bible? He replies, His name is Jehovah. Then, I say to him, That is the God that I worship, and is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Paul then tells me that he has to go and says that it was very nice to meet me. I tell him good bye and wish him well and he walks out the door to return to his home. I return to my computer and update my journal entry.
At four this afternoon, I leave the w-mart and drive north on US 287 across into Wyoming and drive to the d-mart on the east side to spend the night.
(Day 038 TN) 48°F. 6:00 am, sunny and haze
Strawberry Full Moon
Overnight in a parking lot
Awake, drive closer to the d-mart, park and go inside to use the mens room. Then I drive to the w-mart, grab my computer bag and walk inside to connect to the internet and to check my com. In the afternoon, Gordon sends me a text to tell me that Joe and Rebecca are coming up to the Red Feather campsite to spend the night and I tell him that I can be there in an hour.
Then, I pack out, drive back down to Colorado, turn on the county road at The Forks, and up into the mountains. When I arrive back at the campsite, Joe is setting up his tent and I offer to help. I also start a fire with the split wood left by the last camper. Soon, it begins to rain, and we stand under the tarp to stay dry. Joe leaves to go into town to buy some supplies and I keep the fire going, even with the rain coming down. When Joe returns, Rebecca is with him, driving her car and since the rain has abated, we all sit around the fire place talking and telling jokes until nearly eleven this evening.
I finally, excuse myself, walk to the jammer and clean up for my night of sleep. I run the jammer engine to warm up the inside and charge the computer battery. Finally, I turn off the engine and get into the horizontal.

Dispersed camping in a NF, Day Twenty-three
Awake, walk over to find Joe already up and making coffee, so I get out my stove to make a cup of hot for myself. Then, I tell Joe good bye, after which I walk to Gordon′s van to tell him good bye and drive out of the Red Feather forest, down to The Forks where I turn north on US 287, drive across the state line into Wyoming and turn west on IH 80 for a short ways until I arrive at the SH 130 exit.
Once on SH 130, I drive up into the Snowy Range mountains, not stopping except for a couple of times to take photos and then down the west side towards Saratoga, Wyoming. Once in Saratoga, I stop at the hot springs for some soak time, during which I begin talking with several people, mostly about the Bible and one man that I talk with, I begin to witness to. However, he knows all the answers to my questions so I ask him, Are you one of Jehovah′s Witnesses? to which he replies, Yes. I then find out that his name is Don and he lives in his RV at his daughters house in town. We continue to talk for a time longer before we both decide that it is time to get out of the hot water which for me has been about two hours.
Then I take a fresh water hot shower, put on clean clothes and pack out of the hot springs to drive to Rock Springs, Wyoming. When I arrive in Rock Springs, I drive directly to the w-mart, turn on my computer and update my journal entry for yesterday and today.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 6262 feet
Coordinates: 41.579325, -109.252600
Awake, rise and dress in my spring blues and then drive to the w-mart. I then grab my computer bag and walk inside to set up at a table near an electrical outlet. Then, I check my com and open my html editor to begin work on my web pages. After about thirty minutes, I walk up to the counter and purchase a cup of coffee and ask if they have a breakfast wrap but the barista tells me that they do not have any. So, I forgo the breakfast for now and just drink the coffee. A little later, I walk outside and make a cup of Daystart, carry it inside and then walk to the counter and ask for a cup of hot water. With the hot water, I add some to my coup with the Daystart and enjoy both the hot breakfast and the rest of the hot water to drink.
I continue pounding keys all day long and update many files to the latest level, which I call the Super Star level. Later, I have another cup of hot water and a grilled cheese sandwich, and continue pounding keys until the cafe closes at eight-thirty. I pack out, drive to a Mexican restaurant and purchase a vegetable burrito and eat it in the parking lot. Finally, I drive to the d-mart, park for the night and before I get into the horizontal, I write my journal entry for today.
It has been a long day here in Rock Springs and I hope to stay here for all this week and not leave out north until the fifth of next month, so that I can avoid the hoards of weekend warriors on the road for this upcoming weekend. But even more important is that the Harlingen congregation is having the circuit overseer visit this coming week.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart and get onto the internet to connect to the Harlingen, Texas ministry meeting until about eleven this morning. Then, the friends break for lunch; I do as well and have celery and almond butter. Then, I hear a knock on the side of the van and when I pull back the window shade, a man offers to gift me a bag. I ask What is in the bag? to which he replies, Some Gator-aid, a wash cloth, some snacks and other items. I then tell him, Thank you, but I am fine because I receive my retirement and I am able to buy the things I need. He then leaves and I see on the back of his t-shirt a printed message from a local church. In truth, I did not want the gift not only because the items were not things that I consume because of the sugar content, but also, it was, unknowingly by that man, a gift from Christendom, which is a large part of the world, the same world that Jesus told true Christians to be not park of. (John 15:36; 17:14, 16; 18:36)
Shortly after that, I reconnect to the zoom for the weekend meeting which begins at noon my time for the weekend meeting. There is a brother who is visiting from the south Padre Island congregation who gives a talk about Avoiding the Spirit of the World. The talk has three encouraging points: 1. Be obedient and submissive. 2. Live according to Jehovah′s moral standards and has Joseph as an example when he fled from Potiphar′s wife. (Galatians 5:22) 3. Leading a simple life focused on doing God′s Will. Do not allow our eyes to entice us to sin. (1 John 2:16)
After the talk, we study about the sacrifice of God′s Son and what it did for all of mankind, how we must continue to meditate on it and share it with others. Then, the friend are sent to the breakout rooms and I bid my farewell for the day.
Too, I pack out of the jammer, where the temperature has begun to rise into the hight 70s, and take my position at the table near the electric receptacle. I then resume pounding keys unto the sun begins its final descent to the horizon. At eight this evening, I pack out of the w-mart, return to the jammer and then take up my parking space in the d-mart parking lot for the night.

Soon, it is on my computer and I am ready for next week where we will be watching the convention.
I stay inside the w-mart and continue to pound keys until about seven-thirty this evening when I leave to buy a plate of nachos, which was not bad, but the service was absolutely terrible. Leaving the restaurant, I drive to the d-mart to park for the night.

Then at eleven this morning, I leave the zoom meeting and return to my key pounding, continuing until the sun arrives at the horizon. Too, I am able to download the first two sessions of the 2021 Convention onto both my phone and computer and plan on watching some of part one tonight. At nine this evening, I drive to the d-mart, put up my window shades and then climb into the back of the jammer to watch more of the first session of the new convention release. After about an hour, I stop the video, turn off the phone and retire for the night. Very good convention!

Awake before my alarm, rise and dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, grab my computer bag and walk inside for a cup of coffee and a hot breakfast sandwich. I then continue working on my web site updating, working all day until it becomes dark outside. I will remain here in Rock Springs until late Monday the fifth of July. It will be hot each day but I will spend most all of my days inside the w-mart. This kind of reminds me of the hot weather during the last few weeks of February in south Texas and why I leave south Texas before 21 February most years.
I continue inside until six when I go out to buy something for supper and find it to be still extremely hot outside. When I leave here next week, I hope that I can find someplace much cooler.

Awake in the cool of the morning, rise slowly, dress in my fall blues, and then step outside to empty my trash into the receptacle. Then, I drive down from the parking lot to the w-mart, park, gather my things and walk inside for another day in the cool cafe.
In the late afternoon, I pack out my things and drive to the Recreation Center on Reagan street, walk inside, pay the $2.50 fee for seniors and then go down stairs to the dressing room to take a hot shower and then don clean clothes.
After my shower, I drive back to the w-mart, grab my computer bag and go inside to resume my key pounding. Later, I leave the cafe, return to the jammer and set up my computer outside to continue after the cafe closes and stay here until the sky starts to dim. I then drive to the d-mart, park and retire for the night.

(Day 047 TN) 60°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
With the weekend well under way, I continue to stay the course through the flood of weekend warriors who are assailing the mountain. Thus, I will remain here in this city although the daytime temperatures soar into the low 90s.
I repeat my morning routine, first rousing, then relocating to the cafe, then taking a seat inside in the air conditioned but noisy atmosphere of the cafe and stay here for a day of key pounding. I first connect to the Harlingen, Texas morning worship but the zoom app does not connect me, so I leave the app on just incase it may open. While I wait for a connection, I work on my journal and web site. The day continues for hours and the zoom app never connects, which is the same thing that happened Thursday and Friday when I tried to connect on those days as well.
I continue with updating my web site pages, wow, there are so many that still need to be updated and it seems to be a completely endless task. Well, I just keep trudging along with the key pounding and uploading until about seven. Then, I pack out and drive to a local Mexican food restaurant
Once I arrive at the d-mart and park for the night, I decide to call my brother Frank in Harlingen to see what has happened with the zoom app and he tells me that the circuit overseer used his zoom program and all the friends connected to his meeting. I do not think that I got the message of the changes and he tells me that he will send it to me immediately. We talk for some time, encouraging one another and then we say good bye and hang up. I then get into the horizontal and close my eyes. It is the warmest tonight than it has been since I arrive here nine days ago
Sunday, 04 July 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day 048 TN) 63°F. 7:30 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, turn off the alarm and go back to sleep. When I do arise I dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart, park, grab my computer bag and go inside to set up at my regular table and begin pounding keys. It soon becomes very busy here in this cafe and the local barista is sounding out Happy Fourth to all their customers. Little does she know that God′s Kingdom will soon put an end to all of the frivolous celebrations of this.
Too, yesterday, I tried to witness to one of the baristas but a short way into the conversation, she withdrew from the conversation back to her duties. The people of this world, those who have had their bodies tattooed from one side to the other, have no loyalty to any thing else but them selves. They are so much like the people of the world during the days before the flood of whom Jesus said: and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. The regional convention discusses this verse saying that today, just as Jesus foretold, the world of mankind is not taking note of the signs of the last days, no, neither are they in the least concerned with what is necessary to gain God′s favor. The book of Jude in verse 11 speaking about all of these, says, Too bad for them, and rightly so.
At ten this morning, in the mist of a massive assault of the cafe by the weekend warriors, I open my Bible app and begin my study for today′s meeting, Jehovah Treasures You! which is from Psalms 149:4, and helps us to appreciate that Jehovah loves each and every one of us individually, and that despite any background we my have. After finishing my study, I then use zoom to connect to the Harlingen congregation for the weekend meeting and the circuit overseers visit who provide two talks, the first one entitled; Jesus Christ, World Conqueror and How we can also conquer the world. During his talk, he said Human governments have about as much chance to success as we would have by throwing popcorn at a battleship. That was a good illustration. The second talk is the one that I enjoyed even more, which was entitled, Endurance, essential for Life.
During this talk, he asked, How can tribulation help us? Then, he read Romans 5:3, let us rejoice while in tribulations, since we know that tribulation produces endurance;4 endurance, in turn, an approved condition; the approved condition, in turn, hope,5 and the hope does not lead to disappointment; because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy spirit, which was given to us. Next, he said that since tribulation produces endurance, then those who suffer for righteousness sake will continue to bear fruit with endurance, which in turn bolsters out hope in the promises from Jehovah. Wow, such insight for help God′s people to bear up under tribulation. After the final song and prayer, I say good bye to the friends and return to my key pounding here in the cafe.
Some time later, Gordon calls to update me on his trails and I use the thought that the circuit overseer covered in his talk to help keep Gordon moving in the righteous direction. He then said comments about how the study for today also helped him to see how we can get encouragement to not give up, that being the encouragement from our brotherhood. He disclosed that this was the reason for his phone call.
I continue pounding the keys until seven when the cafe closes and then pack out and drive to the post office to drop off my stack of letters. After, I drive to the d-mart to park of the night, and shortly after it becomes dark, about nine this evening, the fireworks begin to explode, disrupting the silence of the night. At first, there were many to be heard from all direction but by nine-thirty, most had stopped and from then only a few would break through the silence, well as silent as it can get with an interstate less than a quarter mile from my parking space.
Then, at about eleven, all is quite, the weekend warriors have departed the scene, or at least, they have retired to their evening′s births and this wayfarer can resume his life. I am so glad that this holiday is over with, maybe, just maybe, this will be the last one.
Monday, 05 July 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day 049 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, cloudy, lite rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon arising this morning, I first notice that it is raining, but ever so lightly. Second, upon looking across the parking lot, I notice that the parking lot has nearly emptied from the previous full condition cause from the hoards of warriors out for the holiday. I dress in my fall blues, drive down from the parking lot to the w-mart, assemble my computer bag, walk into the cafe and upon entering, one of the baristas calls out, Good morning, Thom! I then take my place at the same table that I have been sitting for ten days running, and continue pounding keys, working on my website updates while waiting for the hoards of warriors to vacate the mountain and return to their lowland dwellings.
Even today, the day after the holiday, there are still many remaining here on the mountain, however, I know that soon, they will been gone, in fact, not too much longer and Jesus will come riding on his white horse and completely do away with all of those who, like these hoards of warriors, do not take a stand for God′s Kingdom now but remain opposed to it. Yes, you can identify quite easy those of the warrior class by their uniform attire, with their tattoos, multiple ear piercing, bright color died hair and skin tight clothing.
I continue until about seven, after which, I drive to the d-mart to buy some vegetable for my journey north tomorrow. After shopping, I drive to my regular parking space and park for the night. There are a few more explosions tonight but not too many. I hope and pray that this will be the last one of these worldly holidays.

The Journey On, Through the Northlands Go Down Go Up
The Search for Cool Sleeps
After waiting for the July holiday to be over with, I then continue on my journey to the northern most reaches of the US to see if there are any locations left with cold nights and mildly warm days. If this perfect location can not be found, then I will have to drive to the west coast for cooler weather.
Tuesday, 06 July 2021, Rock Springs, WY.
(Day 050 TN) 59°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart, go inside to purchase a large coffee and then return to the jammer to download the second release of the convention, which is the two part Friday afternoon session. I download it onto my phone in both the video and audio versions and plan to listen to the session as I drive north today. Next, I drive to the dollar store to purchase water after which I take back way along Foothills blvd north to the highway and continue north on US 191.
It is not until about ten this morning when I arrive at the highway and begin a very familiar route through northwest Wyoming. My first stop is at the Warren Bridge over the Green River where I stop and take photos of the two osprey in the nest atop the bridge. Then, I pull into the Warren Bridge campground to prepare my lunch, take a few more photos and finally continue north on US 191. The highway then climbs up into Bridger-Teton National Forest over the summit near the Rim Station, which I normally stop at but do not do so today. Continuing north, US 191 follows the Hoback river downstream all the way to the Snake river at Hoback Junction.
I turn left at the traffic circle where US 26 and US 89 join US 191 and all three continue north to Jackson, Wyoming, where I do not stop but just drive through a very busy tourist town, (turkey shoot) and have not stopped here for many years now but just drive through. Continuing north on US 191, I soon arrive in the Grand Teton National Park, and stop often to photograph the Teton Mountains but do not drive through the lower park road along Jenny Lake but just stay on US 191 until I arrive at Moran junction and turn left. Here, US 26 continues straight and also US 287 comes in and continues with US 191 and US 89. A short distance after the junction, there is a fee station where I show the ranger my senior pass. They used to take it from you and scan it but now, they do not take it, but just lean over and look at it. Shortly after leaving the fee station, I arrive at the Oxbow of the Snake River and keep moving westward until I am able to photograph the Grand Teton, which from this view point, I can see now see clearly why the Frenchmen call it Grand Teton.
After completing my traverse through the national park, I continue north on US 191 into the Rockefeller parkway and pull off at Flagg Ranch to drive down Grassy Lake road along the Snake river to see if there is an open campsite. I stop at the first site and all four are occupied. This time, however, I continue driving along the gravel road to site 2 but find the two sites there also occupied. Next, I drive to site 3 and find both campsites there also occupied, after which, I turn around and head back to US 191, turn left and continue through Rockefeller parkway and enter Yellowstone national park and drive to the Old Faithful Inn.
Unlike my visit in June 2020, when it was completely shut down, I find the Inn open this year, well, somewhat open because all the tables and chairs have been taken out of the main lobby and there are only seating outside the front of the Inn as well as on the second floor outside deck. I just stay in the jammer for the rest of the day and work some on my journal but when the temperature rises to the low 90s, I lie down and take a nap.
Later, when the sun drops to less than one hand above the horizon, I grab my shower bag and walk inside the lobby, up the stairs to the second floor and into the mens restroom where I take a hot shower. I was somewhat concerned that the availability of the shower may have changed but, I walked up the stairs and into the mens room and found it empty with every thing just like it has been for many years. After my shower, I walk around the second floor lobby loft and stop at the bar in the front corner to as for a glass of water. The barista there was very nice and said No charge for the water.
Next, I walk around the lobby loft to the stair way, down the stairs and out the front door to the seating area. Here I begin to talk with a family who is trying to find out what kind of bird are all about and cleaning up any droppings in this seating area. I tell the woman, Those are brown-headed cowbirds. Then, I ask them where they are from, which they say New Jersey and that they drove here. I ask them if they have seen the Grand Prismatic Springs, to which they answer No, but we want to go there.
I tell them about the Fairy Falls trail overlook and tell them that the view at this overlook is so much better than going to the regular view site and show them were it is on their map. I also give them one of my TWJ cards, to which the woman says that she is going to be looking at my website. Finally, I walk back out to the jammer, put my shower bag away, hand the wet towel and then climb inside to write today′s journal entry.
I do get all of the links to the many pages done in the journal text, but I do not, however, get all the photos cropped and inserted into there associated pages. Finally, it is after eleven pm when I turn off the computer and get into the horizontal. This has been a long day and I will be getting up as early as I can in the morning to drive north out of this park.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 7329 feet
Coordinates: 44.460767, -110.831596
Awake, rise, dress in my fall blues and walk into the Inn to purchase some post cards and a cup of coffee. After I have the post cards, I walk towards the Bear Paw deli and find that the line is out the door and stretching across the lobby of Old Faithful Inn. I would guess that there are some fifty people waiting to buy their coffee. Methinks, I will go to the gas station and buy some coffee there. I walk back out to the jammer, start the engine, drive the short distance to the station, park in front, walk in, go to the coffee pot, fill my coffee and then step up to the cashier to pay for the hot brew. It took me longer to record in my journal than it took to get my coffee at the gas station. During this time, a man comes in and asks if he could borrow a tire air gauge but the cashier said that she did not have one. I tell him that I do and that I will let him use it. I walk out to the jammer, open the side door and then hand the gauge to him.
While he is checking the tire pressure, I ask him if he has seen the Grand Prismatic Springs, to which he says That is were we are going next, so I tell him about the Fairy Falls trail overlook and he says that he will go there.
Then, I drive north to Madison Junction, and all along, I see an unending flow of traffic into this nation park. I turn left at the junction and drive east towards West Yellowstone but stop at the Madison River crossing picnic area to set up my stove, boil water and make my breakfast. Shortly afterwards, I see an osprey land in atop a tree on the opposite side of the Madison river. I roll down the passenger window, point my camera and zoom to the furthest position and begin taking photos. I have to lean my arm on the passenger seat back to keep the camera from shaking and I take many photos, some of which I believe will be quite clear. Then, the bird dives toward the water but at the last moment, pulls up and flies to another tree down river.
Next, I continue east on the park road, US 191 and all along, the inbound traffic continues into this park. When I arrive at the entrance gate, the cars waiting to get in is backed up all the way into town and then from the traffic light, in two different directions after the traffic light and further through town. I have never seen this many people driving into Yellowstone park. Methinks, I am glad that I only stayed one night this time.
I continue north on US 191 through Big Sky, Montana, up to Four Corners where US 191 turns right and eastward to Bozeman, Montana where I stop first at an ap-mart to use their OBD-II scanner and find out that it is the canister purge valve that is causing the Check Engine light to come on. I tell the clerk that I have already replaced this valve and he checks my account to confirm, and tells me that he will order it for a free replacement. The only glitch is that it will not come in until this Friday, and now, I will need to hang out here for two days. I then drive to the w-mart, grab my computer bag and walk inside to work of cropping and uploading photos.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, and with my computer bag in hand I walk inside for coffee. At eight this morning, I zoom to Harlingen for a couple of hours after which, I resume getting caught up on my photo cropping and uploads from the last week.
Then, at six this evening, I zoom back to Harlingen, Texas for the mid week meeting with the entire congregation. I put as my background, one of my photos of the two osprey from Werner Bridge in Wyoming and several of the friends ask if the birds were bald eagles. I say, no, eagles are much bigger but the osprey are in th
After the meeting is over, I drive to a Chipotle restaurant and buy a salad, chips and salsa, drive to the d-mart, park and then eat my supper. Afterwards, I continue pounding keys while waiting for the day to end. Finally, I turn off the computer and get into the horizontal.

(Day 053 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny and haze
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another comfortable morning with the temperature not too hot, neither too cold. I rise, dress in my fall blues, start the jammer engine and drive south on Seventh street, turn right on US 191, which is Main street here in Bozeman and drive just about one mile to the w-mart. After parking, I put up the sun screens leaving my single solar panel exposed to the sunlight, grab my computer bag and go inside for coffee and key pounding while waiting for the ap-mart to call and tell me that the part I ordered is in.
At noon, I have made contact and then drive to the ap-mart to pick up the part. I install the new part and bring the old one back inside for a warranty refund because it had a life time warranty. I then drive north on Nineteenth street and drive to IH 90 where I get on the highway going west. My plan is to drive a couple hundred miles and stop for the night. Well, two hundred miles takes me to Missoula, Montana but it is so hot here, and the w-mart is closed so, I only stop to eat and then continue west on the interstate.
After traveling for several more hours, I arrive in Coeur d′Alene, Idaho and stop at the same d-mart that I have stopping at for a couple of years, but find the parking lot replete with No Overnight Parking signs. I do not even stop to buy groceries, nor any gasoline, which is the lowest priced in the area.
Instead, I drive back towards the w-mart and park on the side of the road in front of some business. I put up my window shades and climb into the rear to get into the horizontal for the night. It is a little noisy with the traffic but that does not bother me too much as I am tired from the long drive today.

Awake, dress in my summer blues, start the jammer engine and drive to the w-mart. Once I park, I then walk inside the cafe to purchase a large black coffee, after which, I drive back to IH 90 and continue west out of Idaho and into Washington, which it does not take me long to drive through Spokane and arrive at exit 217 which is US 2.
I turn right on US 2 and continue west upon the Columbia Plateau until I arrive at Wilbur, Washington, where shortly after driving through town, I turn right on SH 21 which connects to SH 174 and I drive west over the top of the plateau and connect to SH 17 and soon after get my first glimpse of the Columbia river. I continue to Bridgeport, Washington, cross the river to the north side and continue around to Pateros.
I then turn right on SH 153 and follow the Methow River up from the river valley bottom back onto the top of the plateau, to where SR 153 connects to SR 20 and I drive through Twist. This time however, the route takes me to the edge of the plateau above Winthrop, after which I continue to follow the Methow river up into the North Cascade mountains.
Once in the Cascade Mountain, I find that most all the snow has melted with only small patches near the mountain tops. I continue up to and over Washington pass and then it is all down hill for another 130 miles to Oak Harbor. Along the way, I stop several times for photos.
Finally, I arrive in Oak Harbor and stop by the ap-mart to order a second canister purge valve, this one being nearly twice the cost of the first one that I purchases. Still, I am just glad that I have a computer that indicates to me what part is defective and needs to be replaces, unlike the first several cars that I learned auto repair on which had no on-board diagnostics. No, in fact, I do not think they even had a computer. So, I do not install now, but drive to the w-mart to get online and upload photos and files.
Later, I drive across the street and park for the night.

The Summer Sojourn, In the Rainshadow Go Down Go Up
The Summer Sojourn
Each year, after my migration to find a location where in the northlands there are cool sleeps, eventually even in the high places there comes an end to the time of the cool temperature.
When this occurs, even in the mountains, it becomes much too warm for this wayfarer, so, I will then seek a hiatus from the heat, elsewhere, usually along the northwest coastland because it is there where the ocean breezes keep the lands cool even in the heat of the summer time.

Day One in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 25 feet
Coordinates: 48.286156, -122.662676
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer. I like the fact that now, I can walk inside the w-mart, choose a table and sit down to drink my coffee and pound keys until nine-thirty this morning when I connect to the Oak Harbor congregation for the weekend meeting. I visit with the friends until ten when the meeting begins which is just a study of the Watchtower after which each will go to their own devises to watch the Friday afternoon session of the 2021 Regional Convention. We all say good bye and then I start part one of the second session.
I do take notes, stopping the program ever so often and writing down my thoughts on my word processes, saving the file in my publications-e3 folder. I continue with the program until almost five this afternoon, after which I work on my computer pounding keys until about six.
Then, I go outside and upon feeling the cool air, shiver just a little bit. Methinks, it must be the damp ocean air. Next, I drive to the best restaurant for the best fish tacos on the island which is also the most expensive meal that I have purchased in a long time, amounting to twenty-one dollars. After eating, I drive to the d-mart to park for the night.
Wow, was that an encouraging program today, my favorite talk was: Keep Testing Whether You Are in the Faith, which I will watch again some time in the future.

Day Two in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart, park, walk in with my computer bag and then check com, drink coffee and pound computer keys. At ten this morning, I log onto th local super hc-mart, make an appointment which then informs me that my hair cut will be in twenty minutes. I pack out of the w-mart, walk to the jammer and drive to the salon, park, walk in and the stylus tells me to take the third chair on the right. Soon after, Ashley asks me how I want my hair cut and I tell her that I want a scissor cut and that I want it cut as short as possible with still allowing me to part it in the middle like it is now.
While the beautician is cutting my hair, I ask her if she is a Bible reader to which she replies, No, I am not a religious person because every one has a God and there are so many gods that I have come to believe that there is no one God. We talk about the subject for some time and I reason with her on a couple of subjects but do not push my conviction for the truth upon her. Afterwards, when I have paid her, I ask her if I may come back to get my hair cut here again, to which she says yes.
I leave the hc-mart, drive back to the w-mart and park in the parking lot, but do not go inside, instead, set up my computer on my desk in the jammer to work on my website. Later, I lie down for a nap after which I go for a meal run. Finally, I drive to my same spot in the d-mart and a sister from the local congregation drives up to say hello. We talk for a time and then she leaves to head home and I get into the back to get into the horizontal.

Day Three in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive north on SH 20, cross Deception Pass Bridge, still under repair, and drive to Bowman Bay on Fidalgo Island, enter the Deception Pass state park, drive to the shower house and get into the hot water. I especially need some hot water because of having my hair cut yesterday. After I finish with the shower, I return to the jammer, drive back across the bridge and, now south on SH 20, back into town and stop at Island Cafe for a breakfast and coffee. After eating, I then drive to the w-mart, walk inside and begin pounding keys, continuing for nearly the rest of the day.
However, at five, I stop pounding the keys, pack out and drive to the city beach to install some new vacuum hoses on the recently installed canister purge valves. I first disconnect the positive cable to the battery and then begin cutting to length and installing the new hose pieces. When I have the new hose in place, I then reconnect the battery cabling, put away my tools and finally start the engine to see that the check engine light is now off. Now, I will see if this most recent fix will keep that light from coming back on. However, it does come back on a short time later.
When leaving city beach, I drive to the Island Cafe and have a senior plate of fish and chips with water with lemon to drink. After eating, I drive to the d-mart parking lot to park for the night.

Day Four in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart and with my computer bag, walk inside and take my seat to begin pounding keys. I work on my web site files but today do it alphabetically as they are listed in the file manager, starting with appendix files, particularly the campground listings.
I continue until nearly eight this evening when I pack out and go out in search of food to eat, which I end up at a Mexican and get it to go. I then drive back to the d-mart and park for the night. Too, I notice the crescent moon hanging low above the western horizon.
Thursday, 15 July 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.

Day Five in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and then return to the jammer to make a cup of Daystart and to have my meal. Also, I connect to the Harlingen, Texas congregation for the ministry meeting, staying with them for two hours before connecting to the Oak Harbor, Washington ministry meeting. Then, after three hours, I disconnect from the zoom app and return to the work on my web site.
About noon, John and Julene drive into the parking space next to the Jammer and to get my attention, John honks his horn. I roll down the window and we talk for a few minutes, then they go to the city beach to eat their lunch. I then resume pounding keys to complete more of the files that I am working on.
I continue here in the parking lot of the w-mart where the reception for the WiFi signal is quite good, and do not go inside except to purchase coffee and/or to use the mens room. I to stay outside for now so as not to take a chance on being exposed to the current virus from the pandemic.
Too, due to the research that I have done about this vaccine and other vaccines in general, I have chosen not to receive the injection because this vaccine is experimental DNA therapy and I do not want to participate in that kind of experiment. I told some friends that except for the small pox and measles vaccines I received as a child, since I becoming an adult, I have and will always say no to any and all having vaccines injected into my body.
I continue sitting in the parking lot through the heat of day with all of my window shades raised and my shirt off. When the evening comes, I move across the highway to the d-mart parking lot and set up for the night.

Day Six in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another day much like the several that I have spent here on Whidbey Island, which consist of ministry in the morning and key pounding in the afternoon. I do find out that my jury duty is set for me to arrive at the Island County Court House at 8:30 in the morning of Tuesday, 10 August 2021 and the jury duty will last for one week until 17 August 2021.

Day Seven in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my summer blues, drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and then turn on my computer. I do not connect to the south Texas congregation this morning but pound keys until nine when I connect to the congregation here on the island at nine-twenty. There is a small group today, never more than ten and we work on writing letters while talking about the wonderful variety of color in creation, particularly in the bird family.
Before eleven this morning, every one else has left the zoom meeting but I stay connected until completing the hour. Then, I return to working on my web site, which I have left off the bird pages and begun to work on the Appalachian Trail state pages and using content directly from the book, Episode One The Journey to Katahdin, I am adding content for the two summers when I was walking north from Georgia to Maine. I have continued to create section that are year specific just like how I have been doing with the entirety of the web pages. However, doing the web site this way is the largest update that I have ever done since starting this project and could take me several more years to complete.
At about six this evening, I drive to the Rotary park which is near the state highway in the north area of town, set up my stove to cook a pot of onion soup, a new recipe that I have been working on this summer. When the soup is done cooking, I stow the stove, put the cook pot in the back of the jammer and then drive back to the w-mart where I continue working on my website while eating. After my meal, I drive to d-mart to park for the night.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my summer blues, start the jammer and drive first to the trash receptacle to empty my garbage. Next, I drive to the w-mart, walk inside for coffee and hot water and then return to the jammer to make my morning meal. Finally, I climb inside, put up my window shades and then turn on my computer to begin my study for the weekend meeting later this morning. At nine-forty am, I join the Oak Harbor congregation for the full weekend meeting which because there is no convention this week. A local elder gives the talk and afterwards, we do the Watchtower study.
When the meeting is over, I drive to the state park for a hot shower, then back onto Whidbey island and stop at the ap-mart to have the check engine light diagnosed. When we go back into the store, the computer readout says that it is the canister purge valve once again. I then install more vacuum lines which do not stop the light from coming on. I next order a new vacuum canister and also purchase a new gas cap. The light persists.
I return to the w-mart to take a nap and end up sleeping for three hours. Rising, I turn on my computer and pound keys until it gets dark after which I call Gordon and we talk until late. When we hang up, I get into the horizontal.

Day Nine in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to w-mart, walk in for coffee and sit inside with my bandana covering my nose and mouth. I work on my computer for a couple of hours until the ministry meeting begins, then connect to the one in Oak Harbor and stay until I am the last one left in the congregation squares, every else having left some time earlier. I then drive to ap-mart to pick up the next part in a series purchases to discontinue the continuously running check engine light. Then, I drive to the hall, open the hood, and install the vacuum canister in the jammer.
At one this afternoon, Curt arrives to give me the new Construction Safety Brochures and he is adamant about keep the six foot social distance between us. He tells me that since I am not vaccinated, there is a hesitancy among the brothers who direct the construction department to even use anyone who has chosen not to be vaccinated because there is a chance of dispersing the virus to me and then if I was to die from the disease, the one who gave it to me would not be showing the same value of life as does God and thus would become blood guilty.
Personally, I think that is a long stretch on the understanding of the concept of the sanctity of life in the Bible. However, I agree to follow the directions as provided by this elder and thank him for allowing me to participate in the Kingdom Hall maintenance work. When he leaves, I go to work on the front side of the hall, working in the area near the property line from the fence to the steps.
After three hours digging in the ground, I finish this area, removing all the weeds, tilling the soil, dead-heading and trimming all the plants, and using the existing bark mulch, move it around to cover the areas where it had become sparse. At four, I put the tools back into the shed, dump the debris into the bin by the shed and then lock the shed. I then return and take photos of the work to include here in this gallery. Upon removing my leather gloves, I see that I have one small blister on the second finger of my right hand which must be the friction point for using a small spade to dig.
Next, I drive to the state park campground just past the bridge and take a much needed shower. Then, I drive back into town, park at the w-mart and I am so tired from those three hours that I must needs take a nap, which lasts until about seven this evening. Upon rising, I catch up on some of my journal writing, after which I drive to the d-mart, park and climb into the back of the jammer for the night.
Wow, I am so worn out just from three hours of dirt work. This old body is quickly wearing out.

Instead, I remain in the jammer and connect to the ministry meeting, first in Harlingen and later in Oak Harbor and I am able to acquire five hours in the ministry today. After the ministry, I remain in the jammer to pound keys until after dark.
Then, I drive to a ff-mart for a burger after which I drive to the d-mart to park for the night. However, I do not climb into the back directly but remain in the drivers seat and watch several hours of videos and wait for the very near full Buck Moon to come out from behind the clouds. Finally, as it is minute hand is rounding midnight, I get some good photos of the moon, so I turn off the electronics and climb into the horizontal to sleep.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, walk inside for coffee and key pounding. I create a social media post for the full moon, but include the fact that this full moon will have a forest fire induced Orange tint, which is something that I have never seen before. Then, I work on my web site to add the photos from yesterday and create a place for the photos that I hope to acquire tonight. When I complete this new page, I upload it to the website, after which I return to the current work that I am doing by updating the Appalachian Trail pages.
In the evening, I retire to the d-mart parking lot.

First, I sit down at a table, turn on my computer to begin today′s journal entry at which time, I see that I did not make an entry for yesterday, so I work at trying to catch up on my journal. Later, I resume the work pounding keys to continue in my website update.
Finally, before the sun sets, I am retiring to the parking space that has become my home spot during my stay in the Rain Shadow.

Day Fifteen in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee and to study for the meeting at ten this morning. Then, just before ten, I join the zoom meeting here on the island and we have an abbreviated study, after which we are dismissed to begin our viewing of the next session of the 2021 Regional Convention, the videos of which I had downloaded last Monday.
I then spend the next four hours watching the two videos part for the Saturday Morning session, both of which are just over an hour long. These too are very enlightening, encouraging and faith strengthening and I promise myself that I will watch these videos again sometime in the future.
Afterwards, I return to the work on my website, continuing with the 1978 and 1979 sections of the Steps Afoot pages. I began with the AT steps because that gallery is by far the largest and most extensive one of all of the foot paths that I have walked upon in my entire life. I tend to approach the tasks in my life as such, doing the hardest one first and afterwards doing the smaller or not so large tasks to finish the job. This practice has persisted throughout my life and has really worked well for me.
It is after dark when I finally retire to the parking lot for the night.
Monday, 26 July 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 070 TN) 50°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Day Sixteen in the Rain Shadow

Awake, drive to the w-mart for a large coffee and take the coffee out to the jammer to sit at my desk to pound keys for a time. When I have finished the cup of hot, I start the jammer, drive north on SH 20, cross the Deception Pass Bridge and drive to Bowman Bay campground for a hot shower.
Since it is still early, I go online and check for available files to download. I find that JW.org has just released the next two part session of the 2021 Regional Convention. So, I download both parts to the Saturday Afternoon session onto my phone and even watch the video presentation of part one of the session.
I then turn off the electronics and close my eyes.

(Day 072 TN) 54°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Day Eighteen in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress in my summer blues, step outside and wipe the dew from the jammer window, then drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee, com and computer. I check online and find that I have received my monthly deposit into my bank account, a deposit which does not have major debit to be taken from it like July has with the five hundred dollar auto insurance payment. That large debit only occurs twice a year, in January and then six months later in July. Those months seem to be hard on me financially but in truth, I have learned well how to get by on the income that I receive because I purposely keep to a minimum the amount of debits I accumulate, which goes a long way to keep me footloose and on continuing on the way.
Once I have my cup of hot, I begin another day of pounding keys here under the rain shadow, now getting close to three weeks and although I have been here for this long, none of the prevalent detrimental allergic impingements have come upon me. Methinks that these bouts of sickness must have there onset with specific seasons when the allergens are at a peak, well at least now since I have seemingly begun to be less effected.
Joann arrives in the early afternoon and sits down with me for a time. She has like most times that she comes to the cafe where I spend time, questions about her computer even though she did not bring it with her today. I do not mind helping her though and she says that she will bring is with her next time. Then, when the sun drops to near the suntouch, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the ff-mart for supper and then retire to the d-mart for the night.
Thursday, 29 July 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 073 TN) 53°F. 7:00 am, sunny
Day Nineteen the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake late due to staying up late last evening hoping to see meteorites but did not see too many. I then drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and once purchasing a large cup, I return back to the jammer to set up and connect to the internet. I then connect to the ministry meeting in Oak Harbor and stay there until the afternoon. Later in the day, I order something to eat from the cafe, go inside to get my purchase and sit at a table inside to eat. After eating, I return to the jammer and continue working on my computer. Too, in the late afternoon, I begin my study for the meeting tonight and I am able to complete the study long before the meeting begins at seven pm.
Then, I connect to the meeting and continue connected until the last prayer, after which I say goodbye and disconnect from the zoom meeting.
Friday, 30 July 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 074 TN) 59°F. 6:00 am, sunny
Day Twenty in the Rain Shadow
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee and internet, then zoom to the ministry meeting of the Oak Harbor congregation to work writing letters with the small group of six of the friends. I continue until noon, after which, I walk inside for my lunch, sit at a table to eat and then when done, return to the jammer.
Upon climbing into the back, I find that my deep cell battery is very low and not being charged quick enough with the one solar panel that I have on the dash. I really need to either drive for several hours or go somewhere to set up all four of the solar panels to get a better charge. I run the jammer engine for a short time but ever since the idle has been malfunctioning, I have not been able to use the engine to recharge my deep cell battery. Instead, I grab my computer bag and walk inside so that I may plug the computer in and pound keys. I stay inside the cafe working on the last edit of the digital version of Episode One and continue until the cafe closes and afterwards, drive to a ff mart for something to eat.
Finally, I drive to the d-mart to park for the night and watch videos until late and then go to sleep.
Saturday, 31 July 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 075 TN) 57°F. 8:00 am, overcast, humid
Day Twenty-one in the Rain Shadow
Twenty-one days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive, walk inside for coffee, com and computer. After completing my journal for yesterday and uploading it to the website, I then resume working on Episode One digital version, which I hope to complete today and then release as the first edition.
Then at eight this evening, with the final upload of the book ever so close, the cafe that I am in closes, so I move to the outside dining area to continue. It does not take much longer for me to finalize the first edition and then I begin working on the upload to the website store.
Finally, my first book, Episode One, Journey to Katahdin after nearly twenty years has finally come to a completion and which is no longer a proof copy like all the previous editions. Too, it has become available on line, only at TWJ Store.
Then, I have to update the store page and once that is done, I pack out to the jammer, drive to the d-mart and park for the night. Wow, the first episode is complete.
Too, the days of me being here under the Rainshadow have summited and are now winding downhill, this being the midway point, now with only twenty-one days and a wake up left in the North-Wet.
Sunday, 01 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 076 TN) 50°F. 7:00 am, overcast and humid
Day Twenty-two in the Rain Shadow
Twenty days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com, computer and then begin my study for the meeting today. At nine-forty, while still sitting in the w-mart, I connect to the meeting with the zoom app but do not turn on my sound or video and just sit, listen and learn. The meeting is abbreviated so that we can then watch the Saturday afternoon session of the Regional Convention.
I begin watching soon after I leave the meeting and really enjoy the video drama about Daniel during the time of the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in the 617 BCE, when he and other royal offspring were taken into the kings court to learn the ways of their conquerors. This video has been very well done and I do so look forward to the second part to be seen in the near future.
After the sessions are over, I then work on the first edition of Episode one and add Bookmark links to all of the different chapter headings throughout the book. I then upload the next version of the book to the Store page and connect the download link. When I test the download link out, it works just fine.
Finally, I come to my online journal and get caught up on writing today journal entry. Methinks, another long time goal has been reached.
After this page is uploaded, I then pack out for the night.

(Day 078 TN) 56°F. 7:30 am, overcast
Day Twenty-four in the Rain Shadow
Eighteen days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another day with my same routine, drive, cafe, coffee, com, food and a long time pounding keys. I continue working on putting the links into the digital edition of Episode One and when the day come near to an end, I am still not quite ready to upload this release because there are so much more that I have to add to this version.
Then, at about seven this evening, a couple walks into the cafe, orders a drink and then sits down at one of the tables to my right. I look up at them and smile a greeting and the young man returns the smile. I do not remember exactly what the comment was but what I said received an immediate response, one that I was hoping to receive. My remark was something in reference to the us being in the Last Days, and his reply was that he was in total agreement to my statement. I asked the two of them if they are Bible readers and he immediately said Yes. I also ask the young woman sitting next to the young man and she said referring to her companion, Yes, he is convincing me that to.
The conversation continues and not long after, when I ask a question and receive answer from the man, I then ask, would you like to see the answer in the Bible, to which he replies yes. I grab my Bible, which is sitting on top of the table, move to a position closer to the two and show them verses in my Bible. Some time later, I find out that I have been speaking to Paul and Kiley. All to soon, one of the baristas approaches and tells us that the cafe closes in six minutes so we all pack out to the outside deck when I offer to give Paul one of my cards, only to find out that I do not have any in my bag. I then walk to the jammer, open the sliding door and retrieve a stack of my business card and then Paul asks if he can have two and I hand him some. I also show him the new study guide, Enjoy Life Forever and tell him that I will show him how to download a free copy.
I then ask him if we can get together again to which he asks, when will you be back her. I tell him that I am awaiting for my jury duty to begin next Tuesday and until then, I arrive by eight each morning and stay here until the cafe closes at eight at night. He says that he will be here tomorrow. I then bid him farewell and he walks to his vehicle to leave.
I get into my vehicle, drive to the d-mart and purchase four new shirts and a container of brake fluid for the jammer. Then I retire to my same space in the parking lot, climb into the back and get ready for another night′s rest.

Then, I continue in my normal routine as I have been doing for nearly the last four weeks, that is pounding keys to work on my website and book. Then at eight this evening, I upload the latest version of the book as well as the completed website updates.

(Day 080 TN) 50°F. 6:30 am, sunny and clear
Day Twenty-six in the Rain Shadow
Sixteen days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee and say hello to the two men sitting next to me and to whom I am able to begin sharing Bible verses with. Both are members of a prayer group and both have Bible apps on their phones. So I offer to show them some verses that I say, I have researched. One in particular are the words Lord and LORD found in different locations. I show them Romans 10:13 which reads: whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Then, I show them in the Strong′s Concordance app on my phone, that the word Lord at Romans 10:13 is the Greek Kyrios, which is here translated as Lord, (and indecently, most people would say that the word Lord here refers to Jesus Christ.) Next, I go to the center (cross) reference in my King James Bible which indicates that Romans 10:13 is a quote from Joel 2:32. So, I open my Strong′s Concordance and find that Joel 2:32 reads whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered.
So, since the two expressions are nearly identical, the second occurrence being quoted from the first, then the translation of the first instance would apply to the second instance. I then open the Strong′s concordance and find that the word LORD is the tetragrammaton, or more commonly called the Name of God in Hebrew characters. The concordance says that the name of God is Yahweh or Yehovah and is the Jewish national name of God, Jehovah in English. Next, I ask them to look at Psalms 83:18 to see where the King James uses the name of God. They are amazed from what I have shown them from the Strong′s concordance and they ask what the name of the app is, which I tell them what is on the about screen. Then both men say that they have to go, get up and walk out of the cafe.
Soon after that, I connect to the Oak Harbor ministry meeting where I continue writing letters to invite the home owner to the regional convention for a couple more hours. After I leave the zoom connection, I resume my key pounding for the rest of the day until connecting to the Oak Harbor mid-week meeting.
Later, Paul, the man that met on Tuesday of this week walks in and I show him which app to download so as to have the new study book, Enjoy Life Forever, after which, the cafe closes and we have to pack out. We then say good bye and both agree to get together again sometime soon..
I then drive to the d-mart for the night, park and climb into the back of the jammer. It begins to rain outside and continues most of the night.
Friday, 06 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.

Day Twenty-seven in the Rain Shadow
Fifteen days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
More than 5126 miles drive this year
Awake, drive across the bridge to the state park for a hot shower. Then, I drive back onto Whidbey island, south on SH 20 into Oak Harbor and stop at the hw-mart to look for a corn straw whisk broom. I have been looking for a new one to replace the nearly worn out one that I have been using for years but I have not been able to locate any hw-mart that carries the corn straw brooms. However, I do find them here in this store and buy two of them. Next, I drive to the state license plate office in town and buy new tabs for the jammer at a cost of nearly seventy dollars. Finally, I drive to the w-mart, park the jammer, grab my computer bag and go inside for some key pounding.
At two-thirty, a man sits in the seat next to me and I greet him, a conversation begins and soon after, I am showing him scripture. From our conversation, I find out that he is quite cordial and listens to what I have to say but after some time, I realize that he is not really interested. So, we both return to the work we are doing, me to my key pounding for a couple more hours.
At four this afternoon, when I am beginning to pack out to get ready to drive to my friends home who has asked me to join in their family supper, I get a text from my friend telling me that there has been a calamity that demands that we postpone my coming for supper until tomorrow. I find out that one of the kids had eloped to get married a week earlier and is just now informing his parents of the marriage. I let my friend know that I am here for support if the need occurs and that I will see them tomorrow evening.
I then drive to the local Island Grill for a plate of fish and chips, after which, I retire to my space in the parking lot of the d-mart for the night.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and computer, staying here all day until I pack out at five to drive to my friends home for supper.
Upon my arrival there, I ask how they are doing and the mother said that the calamity was mostly in my mind, and that she was able to meet her son′s new wife, saying to me, She is nice.
We sit down for a very nice, and filling meal, after which we sit in the living room and talk on several subjects. Later, I leave to return to my regular parking space at the d-mart.

Day Twenty-nine in the Rain Shadow
Thirteen days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com, and then to study for the meeting later this morning. I am able to complete my study just before I connect using the zoom app. A local brother gives the public talk and then the congregation goes through with the study which is Help your Bible students become Baptized Disciples. I really enjoy this study, especially since I have only recently begun discussing Bible topics with Paul.
After the meeting, I say good bye to the friends and then resume work on adding links to Episode One digital book. Later, I leave the w-mart, drive to the d-mart to park for the night
Monday, 09 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 084 TN) 55°F. 6:00 am, sunny with some clouds
Day Thirty in the Rain Shadow
Twelve days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer and drive to the state park for a hot shower. After the shower, I get back into the jammer but it will not start. This has happened to me two times earlier this week and I suspect that I need to replace the battery, however, I am not sure that this is the problem. So, to test out my suspicion, I get out my jumper cables, connect them to my RV deep cell battery inside the jammer and then try to start the jammer engine.
It fires up immediately which shows that the old battery is dead and that I need a new battery. So, with the jammer engine still running, I put the cables and my tools away, shut the hood and then I drive back into town to go to the ap-mart to buy a new battery. When I go in to purchase the battery, the clerk tells me that he does not have one but it will be here in two hours. I tell him that I do want it and pay for the new battery. I also need to take the old battery out of the jammer and bring it inside for the core. Finally, I go back out to the jammer and wait for the battery to arrive, however, when the truck drives into the parking lot, the battery is not on the delivery truck. The clerk tells me that since it did not arrive on this truck, it should arrive on the next one, which will not come until four this afternoon. However, he gives me a loaner battery so that I can leave and take care of other business. That was very nice for him to do that.
I return at four this afternoon, take the loaner battery out of the jammer, bring it inside and he gives me my new battery which I carry it out to the jammer and install. Then I start the engine and drive to the w-mart to go inside to pound keys. Later, Joann sends me a text asking to meet with here to create her will. I tell her that I already have it and send her a PDF document for her will and another for the affidavit. Then I tell her to print it, get three witnesses and have it notarized. She tells me that she will get the witnesses and have it notarized.
I then check to see if I still have to report for jury duty tomorrow morning and find that the reporting date area no longer has Tuesday 10 August 2021 included but only 17 August 2021.
Tuesday, 10 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 085 TN) 55°F. 7:30 am, sunny with some clouds
Day Thirty-one in the Rain Shadow
Eleven days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, coffee, com, computer. I stay here all day to pound keys, working on my digital book, and play an occasional game of solitaire.
Today, I get an email from the Jury Duty Manager who tells me that all cases for the next two weeks have been dismissed or settled and that my term of service is over and complete at this time. This means that I am free to leave the island at any time. However, because the circuit overseer is visiting the Oak Harbor congregation this week, I have decided to stay through to at least Sunday. After that, I will decide exactly what day I will drive across Deception Pass bridge and then head south into Oregon.
At six-forty, I pack out, walk out to the jammer, put on my shirt and tie and connect to the mid-week meeting. After the meeting, the circuit overseer gives the talk Pursue What Builds Loyalty and I listen and take notes in my journal. After that, I say good bye and then drive back to the same parking lot that I have been waking up in since Day 055 TN, one month ago, and park for the night here again.
Wednesday, 11 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 086 TN) 50°F. 7:30 am, sunny and clear
Day Thirty-two in the Rain Shadow
Ten days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, grab my computer bag, walk inside and begin pounding keys. At nine-thirty this morning, I connect to ministry meeting to listen to the circuit overseer′s ministry meeting talk. Then, Joann walks in, sets up and asks me to help her get her tablet connected, so I miss most of the overseers talk. However, that is Ok because I do want to help her get her devices online and connected while I am here. So, I will tune in tomorrow to listen to the overseer.
Once the talk is over, I disconnect from the meeting and then continue to help Joann set up her tablet. She is doing this because her computer is having a screen problem which is causing her not to be able to see it clearly. I have previously looked at her computer, checked all of the software and told her that I thought it was something wrong with the hardware.
I return to my work on my digital book and updating it with links and later, Joann walks in because we had planned to drive to Mount Vernon to look at computers and SSS external drives. After the stop at the e-mart, we then go to the d-mart to see if they have any of the nylon pants that I wear. They do not have even one, and Joann tells me that it is due to the Canadians who come down to shop in the US and buy up all of the best items from most stores. We then drive back onto the island and into Oak Harbor where we both go into use the rest room. Upon coming back outside, I see Patty, a good friend of Both Joann and myself. We both greet Patty and we talk for a long time.
Finally, I get into the jammer and drive to another friends home who has asked me to come over for a meal. I especially love the salad that Sherry has prepared as we sit outside at a table on the deck. Afterwards, we sit in the living room to watch some tv, and I tell JP, You know, the last time I sat and watched TV was probably right here.
Finally, I pack out, drive to the parking lot and stop for another night of rest.

Day Thirty-three in the Rain Shadow
Nine days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, carry my computer bag inside and set up to pound keys for the morning. I start first by finishing the story about Salmon Lake and how Joktan crossed the Bridge of the Gods, after which I add words to my journal entry. Soon after, I connect to the Oak Harbor ministry meeting for the talk by the overseer, but then, I leave when he finishes the talk and return to my work on the digital book.

(Day 088 TN) 58°F. 6:00 am, sunny and haze
Day Thirty-four in the Rain Shadow
Eight days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
After a very warm night, during which it was hard to gain sleep because of my sweating, I wake up into a somewhat comfortable morning, start the jammer engine, drive to the w-mart and go inside to where it is air conditioned. I purchase a cup of coffee, sit down, set up my computer, and begin pounding keys. John arrive and tells me that he has my order of tea tree teal, which I walk with him out to his van and then put the tea into my van, and tell John thanks and then good bye.
After he left, Patty came in toting her tablet for me to help her install the zoom app and an antivirus. Not long after that, Joann walks in toting her tablet looking for similar help and they sit one either side of me and I answer questions, one after another for a couple hours. I do so enjoy the companionship, methinks all three of us do because we are all three solo witnesses of our God Jehovah serving him in this world today, and to have a good friend to spend time with makes the disquietude of each ones individual solitude so much grievous.
Finally, they too leave and I return to my key pounding and I am able to finish the links up to page 88 of over 400 pages. At eight this evening, I pack out, eat some supper and then park in my regular space in the parking lot.
It is no where near as hot as it was yestereven when I retired for the night. In fact, it is even pleasant tonight and much more comfortable for sleeping.
During the middle of this night I awake after having a dream, and one much like the many dreams that I often had in past years about Becky Rose. However, this dream was somewhat different, even a bit disturbing to me so that when I awoke with the memory fresh in my mind, I immediately said a prayer to Jehovah and asked for his forgiveness and for him to keep me in the blessings that he showers upon his people here on the earth during the last days of this wicked system.
My dream was that Becky Rose and I had gotten back together and then, that night, we slept together. That night, we were embraced in our bed fully naked but I do not recall us having sex but just sleeping together. My long time study and cognizance of scriptural principles warn me that if I was ever to physically participate in any such an action as portrayed in my dream, I would bring displeasure to God, and doing so for several reasons. Further, displeasing God is far from anything I would ever wish to do. Too, upon my awaking from the dream, the significance of what occurred in the dream was such an agitation to my mental peace that I remained awake and praying for some time and this dream will be one that methinks I will never forget it.
Finally, before I fall asleep again, I tell myself that I must write this experience down in my journal.

(Day 089 TN) 5°F. 6:0 am, sunny and haze
Day Thirty-five in the Rain Shadow
Seven days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and to begin pounding keys. However, I am expecting a call from Frank and Jesica who are from Harlingen to call me. When they do call, I will then drive to the state park to meet them and spend time with Frank, his family and their extended family who live here in Washington. I will then be with them while they enjoy the natural beauty in the Deception Pass area. At eleven, I decide to drive to the pass and wait there. When I arrive in the park, I go across the bridge to Bowman Bay to take a shower and put on clean clothes.
Then, I continue to wait for the call, until about one this afternoon when he calls to tell me that they are at North Beach. I drive back across the bridge, into the park and then north on the road which leads to North Beach. The ranger at the entrance station says that the parking area at North Beach is full but I drive there anyway praying for there to be an open space. When approaching the parking lot, I see three cars leaving and I thank God for answering my prayer. I arrive and drive into and find that there is one space open, which I pull the jammer into. I then call Frank and he walks up from the beach to guide me back to where his party is sitting. Also, my sister Susan calls me to tell me that Barry, my brother has lost his wife to COVID.
It is a nice family style gathering and Thomas and his family has brought food and drink which they offer me some. I have a slice of watermelon and a bottle of water to drink. Then Frank asks me to tell the story of how I came into the truth and then each time I pause, Frank translate it into Spanish for Thomas, his wife and niece who do not speak English. Everyone else understands English. After finishing my story, we all go for a walk down the beach towards West Beach but stop in about two hundred yards at the large rocks. The walk in the sand is hard work and causes me to sweat. When we get back to the camp, everyone is packing out, to go to another view point. I then tell them that I am heading back into town.
On my way back into town, I stop at Joann′s home and help here finish setting up her tablet. I then help here set up here zoom app so that she can get onto the meetings. Finally, I drive to town and park in the d-mart lot for the night and see a brother working on one of his vehicles, so I walk over and say hello. I then return to the jammer, turn on my computer and write down today′s journal entry. Long day, more walking than I really wanted to do and not it is time to get into the horizontal for some down time.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart, carry my computer bag inside to connect to the internet and then call my brother Barry and listen to him as he tells his story about Pam′s contacting COVID and passing. Then, I connect to the Oak Harbor meeting for the last day of the circuit overseer′s visit.
After the meeting, I continue here in the cafe to work on installing links in the digital book. Finally, I drive back to the d-mart for the night to sleep.

Coffee, com and key pounding for most of this day.
I take up the task of reworking the index in the digital book. This is something that I have not done a thorough edited for a very long time. I begin by creating a new group index for rivers and begin moving all the rivers into this location.
When the cafe closes, I leave to find food and sleep.

(Day 092 TN) 52°F. 6:30 am, sunny
Day Thirty-eight in the Rain Shadow
Four days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
I drive to the w-mart to continue my work on the Appendix index of words and also begin grouping all of the lean-tos, shelters and other places for overnighting. Too, in like manner, I group all of the people met during the 2000 mile walk, into a group called friends and list them from where they are from. Those whom I did not find out their home town, I list them alphabetically by name in the group called friends from places unknown.
Then, I look at my Appendix and decide that I have to reorganize not just the Index of Words, but I really need to rework all of the index because, I just have not updated it for a really long time. So, this suspends my work on adding links to the digital book and when that work resumes, there are some of the current links that will have to be redone, which will add more work to my effort to complete the link additions I am making to the digital book.
Continuing, I work into the late afternoon when Joann shows up but does not stay for long. She does tells me that she is driving down to the south coast of Washington to go to the kite festival there and will go with another sister from Annacortes, Washington. I stop again when the cafe closes, eat supper and then get into the horizontal.

Day Forty in the Rain Shadow
Two days until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Another day here under the rain shadow and really, even though I have been doing a countdown until I leave, I still have not decided the exact day of my departure. In fact, I have been free to leave now for ten days ever since Monday, 9 August when I received the email from the court clerk that told me that all the cases have been settled or dismissed. And yet, I have remained here in the rain shadow marking time despite being free to leave.

(Day 095 TN) 54°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Day Forty-one in the Rain Shadow (Last Day)
One day until Journey On
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, start the jammer and drive north on SR 20, cross the bridge and turn into the Bowman Bay entrance for one last hot shower while here on the island. I drive into the empty parking lot, park in the first space, empty my trash, grab my towel, shower bag, clean clothes, and walk into the shower house. The hot water just does not seem to last long today but I am grateful to have what I have. Afterwards, I drive out of the park, back across the bridge, into town and stop at the post office to mail the package of tea to Gordon. Then, I drive to the w-mart to continue pounding keys hoping to finish the Appendix of the digital book.
In the mid afternoon, Patty with here friend Amelia come in to join me and we have fun together, especially playing find the item on the wall painting, a game we devised just for fun. We have a lot of laughs doing this, all three of us.
Too, I noticed that the figure eight knot is in the painting, in the bottom left corner, next to the phone. I even got out a piece of rope and tried to tie the figure eight now. It took me a couple of tries but finally, I remembered how to tie it.
The Quest for the Solace
On Loving Neighbor as Self
(m0-20210820.1741) Upon the Quest for Solace
When my friends leave me here, I go back to work pounding keys on my computer, and do come to a point where I can upload the current journal, it being close to finishing. Yes, this version D.05 is very close to being done. However, I will still come back tomorrow morning to try to put in more of the links and then upload an even newer version of the book to the internet so that it can be downloaded.
Finally, I pack out, drive to the parking space and rest for the night.
Saturday, 21 August 2021, Oak Harbor, WA.
(Day 096 TN) 56°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Day Forty-two in the Rain Shadow
Day Zero, Journey On Resumes
Overnighting in a parking lot
Viento State Park is close to three hundred miles from my location here in the rain shadow and I can drive there in less than six hours. However, there are no campsites available in most campgrounds until Sunday or Monday. So, this causes me not to be in a hurry to get to Oregon, or at least show up at one of the campgrounds there.
It is not long into the afternoon when I begin thinking that it is time to pack out and begin burning rubber by turning the wheels on the jammer by heading south once again. I pack out, walk to the garbage receptacle to dump my trash and in walks John and Julene to tell me good bye. We walk outside to continue talking and they ask me how I am doing to which I answer Ok. Julene shows concern and I tell her that I am well, just need to loose some weight. John notices that one of my tires looks to need air, so I tell him that I will check it before I leave town. Finally, they say good bye and drive safe to which I thank them and tell them I will see them again next time I travel north.
I then get out my tire pressure gauge and find two tires that are somewhat low, so I next get out my air pump and top off both tires. I start the jammer, drive to the af-mart to fill the gas tank and then drive north on SR 20, cross the bridge, then drive east on SR 20 to the interstate, turn south on IH 5 and drive the six or more hour trip to Oregon. I do make one stop along the way at an ap-mart, open the hood and then see that one of the vacuum lines has come loose so I disconnect the two foot length, take it inside to buy a piece of replacement hose. Then, I walk back out to the jammer, install the new vacuum line, put the air cleaner back in place, reconnect the battery and then start the jammer engine. The engine starts right up and the check engine light is now off, and I might say that this is the first time since mid to late June when it first came on that it has gone off. Yes, the check engine light has been on for all of nearly two months, and the whole time, the idle has not worked well. However, this time, I do believe that the problem has been corrected.
I return back to the interstate and continue south on IH 5 and pass through Seattle before five this afternoon, Olympia next, then onward south to arrive at the Columbia river where I cross over into Oregon, turn east on IH 84 and drive to the d-mart in Troutdale, Oregon, a distance of nearly three hundred miles and never once did the check engine light come back on. I did thank Jehovah for helping me fix this one, in fact, I thanked him much.
It is now after nine, it is dark and I have finished updating my journal. Too, I just got online and several of the friends in Oak Harbor sent me a text to wish me safe travel. It was a very nice forty-two days in Oak Harbor with the friends there. I will come again in the future.

The Journey On, The Fall Migration Go Down Go Up
The Journey On, Southward
For many years now, I have considered that when I begin travel either southward in the fall or northward in the spring, the start of that travel would begin my annual migration to either the winter or summer hiatuses. The initial Journey On began more than twelve years ago, when I left Oak Harbor in the fall of 2009 to begin Passage Three, The Journey of the Me, Part One.
Thus, with Quire Three: The Quest for Solitude, my first southward migration was to begin and this initial Journey On would continue until Quire Five: Chapter Five. Part Four, The Sojourn in Patzcuaro, México. Yes, the first migration south ended with my hiatus upon arriving in Patzcuaro, México.
Ever since that first (southbound) migration, I have continued my annual back and forth migration, but after that first southbound one, I have chosen to remain within the confines of the United States, the country of my birth. Thus, this next southbound migration is one which finds me driving south along the West Coast.

Journey On, Day One

Overnighting in a parking lot
Elevation: 57 feet
Coordinates: 45.542692, -122.420743
At just before six this morning, I am awaken by a rude security guard who told me that I have five minutes to leave the parking lot. Troutdale is just one more Oregon city that has issued a No Overnighting Ordinance. Instead of leaving, I drive to the main entrance, park the jammer and go inside to do some grocery shopping. After leaving the d-mart, I drive east on IH 84 and just before the Sandy river, I stop at a w-mart for coffee, com and computer. Too, I study for the meeting today. Then, at nine-thirty, I connect to the Oak Harbor weekend meeting and I am encouraged greatly with the convention videos afterwards.
After the meeting, I pack out of the cafe, drive east on IH 84, enter the Columbia River Gorge NSA and in less than a half of an hour arrive at Viento state park. I enter the park, drive into the camping area and then pull into parking space number A16. Then, I plug in my electrical cord to the power pedestal, connect it to my electric connector and turn on the power strip to begin charging my batteries. Once everything is connected, I then fill out a permit to stay for the night and put on it the number from my park pass id. Once the permit is complete, I walk to the kiosks and drop the permit into the container.
Upon returning my my campsite, I next get out my bucket and begin washing the jammer, which has become speckled with spots of tar from the highways that I have been driving on. The tar is quite tough to remove and I try a couple of cleaners before I find out that the cleaning powder works best to remove the grime. It take me several hours to clean the body, the tires and the wheels, after which, I walk to the shower house to get into the hot water. Afterwards, I walk back down the hill and begin my evening meal, a repast with fresh onion and sweet potatoes. I then see a park ranger walking down the loop road with a beaver next to him. Actually, the beaver is a costume with another ranger inside and I make a comment to the ranger that I know that beaver from somewhere.
After the meal is finished cooking, I then climb inside the jammer and work on my computer while I eat. Because I am so very tired from the work of cleaning the jammer, I lie down to watch the first half of the Sunday morning convention video, which takes me until after nine this evening.
Lastly, I get caught up on my journal writing for today, after which I return to the horizontal to sleep for the night.

Journey On, Day Two
Viento State Park, Space number: A16
Elevation: 116 feet
Coordinates: 45.698360, -121.666233
Rising early this morning, I grab my towel and shower bag, walk up the hill to the shower house and take a hot shower. Afterwards, I walk back down and begin my morning meal preparations, a cup of hot coffee, a cup of Daystart and a cup of hot tea for later. Once my breakfast is ready, I put away my cook pot, climb into the jammer and begin pounding keys while I eat my meal.
At eight this morning, the ranger drives by and puts a reserved sign on the sign post for the site I am currently occupying. I step out and ask her if there is another site where I might stay through the week. She says that she will check and get back to me. Interestingly, that is what the ranger yesterday said. I only hope that this ranger will do what she says. Then, at nine, the same ranger, Debbie comes back to tell me that space A14 is open all this week until Friday morning.
By noon, I have moved over to then next space, A14 and I begin sweeping the pine needles from the asphalt. Once the parking space is clean, then I begin my second day of spring cleaning by doing one more scrub on the side fenders to remove any remaining tar, next wipe on some shining liquid and buff it dry. Finally, I get out my tool box, take out an adjustable pliers and then work on straightening the bottom gunwales, something that I have had to do on all of the Aerostar vans I have owned. The bending of these parts are caused by tire mechanics who do not lift the van according to the manufacturers recommendations, but instead, lift the van as it was a unibody vehicle, which it is not. After I have straightened the underbody, I then put my tools away and grab my shower bag and towel and go in for a second hot shower for today. Afterwards, lie down on my bed and watch more of the convention videos. Later, I catch up on my journal writing and work some on my web site.
This evening, I once again get out my stove and cook pot, prepare what I call onion soup, but this time without any grains. Along with an entire onion, I also chop up a sweet potato. I had wanted to include fresh garlic and ginger but did not have any to cut up so I made the soup with out them. When the soup is done cooking, I put away my kitchen, climb inside and pound keys while I enjoy my meal.
Aftre eating, I continue on the computer until after dark, at which time I watch some videos for a time before closing my eyes.

(Day 099 TN) 52°F. 8:00 am, sunny and clear
Journey On, Day Three
Viento State Park, Space number: A14
Today, I sleep in and when I do arise, I go for my morning shower, which I do so enjoy doing each day while I am here in Oregon. Upon returning to the jammer, I get out my stove and cook pot and prepare some thing hot to drink as well as my Daystart. When the meal is ready, I put away my kitchen, climb into the jammer and then pound keys while I eat.
I continue to pound keys until about one this afternoon when I step outside to continue my spring cleaning and today, I sweep carpet and also organize my pantry taking note of how much of which items I have. Too, I record the eighteen spices in my Wayƒarer′s Spice Mix © in my shopping list notebook because I have run completely out of my personal spice mix and thus, I have a list so I can begin purchasing the ingredients to make a new batch.

(Day 100 TN) 55°F. 6:50 am, sunny and clear
Journey On, Day Four
Viento State Park, Space number: A14
Awake, grab my towel and shower bag, walk up the hill t o the shower house and get into the hot water. However, like Monday, the hot water only lasts for about four minutes before it goes cold and suddenly the realization comes to me that the park has installed a timer on the water heater to turn off power during the night. Yesterday, aftet sleeping in, I had plenty of hot water. Then, I return to the jammer, set up my stove to boil water for my cup of hot and Daystart. Too, as most days, I climb into the back of the jammer and pound keys while I have my morning meal.
Today is a very pleasant day and at midday, I clean and organize more of my possessions in the jammer. Since last Sunday, four days ago, I am living totally off of the food that I carry with me and have eaten not an ounce of restaurant food the entire time. My goal is to continue doing this for at least the rest of this month, maybe even into next month.
Even though I do have internet and am able to create my own WiFi and gain access to much, here I have not been able to access my website server to upload files and photos. Most likely, that will have to wait until I return to one of the cafe′s that has good WiFi service.
Another day comes to a close, fourth one, and will stay until Friday morning and then see if there is an opening for one more overnight. If not, I will drive into a town that has a cafe and grocery.
