The campground is located along the Snake River.

Access is by turning into the Flagg Ranch Headwaters Lodge exit off of US 191/89/287 highway and then take an immediate right onto Grassy Lakes Road which runs north of and behind Flagg Ranch. This ranch is in the John D. Rockefeller, Jr, Memorial Parkway between Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Grassy Lakes Road is also known as Ashton-Flagg Ranch Road.

After turning off of US 191 (also US 89), turn right before going into the Flagg Ranch compound, onto Grassy Lake Road and follow this road around the compound and into the national forest area to the west. From the highway, drive one and a half miles to the first campsite on the left. You will see a sign at the campsite entrance that reads Camp # 1, 4 Sites. Turn on this dirt road and drive about one hundred yard.

National Forest Dispersed Camping is normally free camping, or as others call it, Boondocking. Access is by Grassy Lake road, which is a gravel road and then by the approach road which is a dirt road which has one low spot and holes normally filled with water.

The campground is located on the banks of the Snake river and except for during spring flood, there has to be good fishing here.

This is a Forest Service Dispersed Campground located on Grassy Lakes Road in the Memorial Parkway.

There are at least two more campsites further down Grassy Lakes Road beyond campsite #1.

This is a free campsite.

Each campsite has a bear box, fire ring and picnic table. The campground has a vault toilet and garbage containers including a recycling container.

No utilities are provided. If you need water, be sure to pack it in.
