Kilauea is the youngest and most active Hawaiian volcano, located on the southern part of the Island of Hawaii, (known as Big Island), which owes its existence to this very active Hawaiian hot spot.

The Kilauea volcano is a shield volcano, on the south east flank of the massive Mauna Loa shield volcano and not only the most active volcano of Hawaii but at the same time also the world′s most active volcano.
It has been in near-constant activity since there is oral or written history and it has been erupting uninterrupted since 1983.
In the spring of 2018, major lava flows destroys many homes and other structures.
