Turn onto CR B-007 and continue until you arrive at the John Dunn Bridge over the Rio Grande River, which area is a nice place for picnicking.
The Black Rock hot spring is located along the Rio Grande River south of the John Dunn bridge. To arrive at the trailhead to the hot spring, cross the bridge and turn left and begin climbing southward out of the Rio Grande rive gorge. After a quarter mile up the road, arrive at the first switchback and find a small parking lot. On the rock wall is a faded sign indicating that the Black Rock Hot Spring is down the trail to the river bank.
From the trailhead, the Black Rock hot spring is located at an elevation of 6468 feet, one hundred feet lower than the trailhead parking lot at a distance of about 1/8 of a mile, about the distance of just over two football fields.
