The Coastal Ranges Ecoregion (1F) in California exists in two separated areas: the north area and the south area.
The North Coastal Ranges Ecoregion, also known as the
Redwood Coast is in northern California and spans from the Oregon state line southward until it reaches the San Francisco bay. The South Coastal Ranges Ecoregion, also known as the
Big Sur Coast, is in central California and includes the San Francisco Peninsula and continues south until reaching the Monterey Bay.
