After my normal morning routine, I then drive west US 72A out of Madison Alabama, then west out of Decatur, and travel across the top of Alabama following the Tennessee river valley all along following a line of low elevation mountains not to far south of the river.
Upon crossing the state line, I stop in Iuka, Mississippi for fuel and ask about access to Woodall Mountain, if there is a road to the top. I say, I know that it is not very high in elevation but I would like to drive there. The clerk says, It may not be very tall, but is high for around here. When I get directions to this state high point, I drive there, park, sign the register and take photos. Soon another couple arrive, seeking to acquire the high point status and we talk for a short time. I give them one of my cards.
