The Wichita Mountains, in southwestern Oklahoma are, by extension, another part of the interior highland mountains, however, being in western Oklahoma and separated from the rest of the Interior Highlands, these mountains are surrounded by the Central Great Plains on the west, south and north; with the Cross Timbers in the Interior Lowlands to the east.
