The Basin and Range Region, Alaska

The Boreal Forested Highlands Ecoregion Go Down Go Back
The Boreal Forested (tiaga) Highlands Ecoregion in Alaska consists of the large area of interior highlands in which are the Copper Plateau and Klondike Plateau. These highlands are surrounded by extensions from the Alaska Range, Saint Elias Mountains and Wrangell Mountains.
This a wet region with up to 18 inches of rainfall per year and with temperatures ranging from -16 °F in winter to 70 °F in summer. Some areas have patches of shallow permafrost.
