The Hudson Bay Lowland is a vast wetland located between the Canadian Shield and southern shores of Hudson Bay and James Bay. Most of the area lies within the province of Ontario, however portions of this region reaches northwest to Manitoba and southeast to Quebec.
Many wide and slow-moving rivers flow through this area into the Hudson Bay including: in Manitoba, the Churchill, Hayes and Nelson rivers; in Ontario, the Albany, Asheweig, Attawapiskat, Ekwan, Fawn, Severn, and Winisk rivers; and in Quebec, the Eastman, Harricana and Rupert rivers.
This is the largest wetland in Canada, and one of the largest in the world.
