The Lights of Vermont Go Down Go Back
Green Mountains
Vermont is from the French language meaning Green Mountain, which where is also located the mountain range known as the Green Mountains. Too, this state is just south of the Canadian border, north of Massachusetts, west of New Hampshire and northeast of New York.
Lake Champlain
This state is quite far from the ocean but the state has half a dozen lighthouses nonetheless, located on the eastern side of Lake Champlain, which is part of an international waterway connecting the St. Lawrence and Hudson Rivers.
The lake drains northward to the St. Lawrence through the Richelieu River and it is connected southward to the Hudson River by the Champlain Canal, a waterway open since 1823.
