The Lights of Michigan Go Down Go Back
The state of Michigan is home to the most lighthouses than any other state and has lights in Lake Saint Clair, the straits of Mackinac, Detroit River and Saint Marys River, the Keweenaw Waterway and four of the Great Lakes: Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, and Lake Superior.
Lighthouse Information:
The state of Michigan has historically had some 155 lighthouses, currently:
there is now 129 lighthouse which are still standing;
there are about 106 lights which are still active;
there is about 4 or 5 lights which have been replaced with a skeleton towers;
there are 35 lights (still standing) which are inactive;
there are 6 inactive lights which are now museums; and
there are 24 lights which have been destroyed.
