Lighthouses in Arizona?
Yes, despite being a landlocked state and nearly all desert, Arizona currently has 19 lighthouses, which are all located on the shoreline of Lake Havasu, the same lake where London Bridge was shipped to and install in 1971.
In 2000, a lighthouse was built in the Lake Havasu Marina entrance, thinking it would be good for the city. To make the lighthouse even more usefull, it was set up as a navigational aid for boaters traveling around the entrance rocks
Lake Havasu currently claims the title of the city with most lighthouses in America, and thanks to the Lake Havasu Lighthouse Club, Arizona someday could surpass Michigan as the state with the most lighthouses. Members of the club have cited at least 35 additional locations along Lake Havasu where a new navigational light could help safely guide boaters along the deceptively dangerous shores of the lake. Too, the hope is to have a navigational light located at every mile along the lake for 85 miles from Davis Dam to Parker Dam.
