Water birds called swimmers have wide bodies for buoyancy and webbed feet for moving through the water. When in flight, they move swiftly and direct to their destination.
Swimmers include: anihinga, cormorants, duck, geese, loons, swans, and white pelicans.
A large diverse group of birds make up those that are known as swimmers. Ducks, geese and swans swim with webbed feet. Grebes have large feet with broad lobes on the toes and small webs connecting the front three toes. Still other swimming birds such as the rails do not possess any webbing on their feet, but have broad lobes which they use for swimming.
