Landbirds have adapted to exploit every source of food across the earth. Some even feed off other birds and most have distinct feeding habits that define the type of bird that it is.
For instance, owls, turkeys and woodpeckers are not easily confused with those other land birds know as songbirds.

Many species occasionally perch on the ground, but the ground walkers live on the ground. Ground walkers would rather walk than hop, would rather run than fly even though most can fly for short periods.
Many of the ground walkers have plump bodies and are hunted as game birds.
