The Arctic Birds group is one which is not soon to be developed as visits to that area are not planed any time soon, but is included as one of the Bird Galleries to serve as a reminder to me of the large contingency of birds on this earth that remain unseen by nearly all of the population of this earth.
Methinks the reason for this this section is to acknowledge the existence of that large group of birds, birds which normally do not travel to the contiguous forty-eight US states, nor for that matter to the more populated regions of lower Canada.
Maybe one day, the journey will take me above the arctic circle?
A Brief Summer Respite
Many of the bird that live or visit this area of the earth migrate from winter homes in Asia and Europe to nest here in the Arctic tundra on North America, to this area of the earth which after the long barren, icy winter landscape, this land is transformed into a brief period of blooms, replete with insects, birds and other wildlife.

Winter Residents
When the days grown short and the snows reappear, however, only a few birds remain during this time. Ravens often endure the frigid temperatures, feeding on carrion left by predators like polar bears. Also, at openings in the ice pack and along the edge, gulls and alcid (those of the auk gallery) may be seen in midwinter.
The Aleutian Island which stretch for over a thousand miles across the Pacific and numerous other island in the Bering Sea provide nesting sites for many seabirds.
