The campground is located on FR 313 which is located on the south side of SH 63 11.25 miles southeast of US 69 in Zavalla, Texas. Once turning onto FR 313, it is about 2.75 miles to the campground direction sign.

From this sign, the parking area can be driven to and from there the Day Use pavilion and shower house can be accessed.

The group picnic area provides direct access to the Sawmill Trail, a hiking trail that winds through the forest to the Aldridge Sawmill Historical Site.

Boykin Creek and the nine-acre Boykin Springs Lake both pass through the facility, and the Sam Rayburn Reservoir is nearby. The area is forested with pines and hardwoods. Wildlife is abundant, and the region is a hot spot for migratory birds.

Aldridge Sawmill Historic site is accessible on the Sawmill Hiking trail from .

The campground sites are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The campground has 17 campsites, most for tents and RVs, with a few tent only sites. There are no water or electric hookups at any of the campsites.

Access, Senior, Veterans passes receive half off camping fees.

Drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers are available in the campground.

When I leave Lufkin I drive further around the SH 287 loop to US 69, then southeast on US 69 to Zavalla, Texas, then southeast on SH 63 and then exit on FR 313 and drive to Boykin Sprngs Recreation Area where I park, grab my shower bag and walk across the wooden bridge to the shower house for some hot water.

Afterwards, I take a few photos of the shower house, group pavilion and other features of this campground. Then, I walk back across the bridge over the creek, get into the jammer and drive out of the park.
