Order Asterales
Asterales is an order of dicotyledonous flowering plants that includes the large family Asteraceae known for composite flowers made of florets and ten additional related families. This order is cosmopolitan throughout most of the world including desert an frigid zones, and includes mostly herbaceous species, although a small number of trees and shrubs are also in the order Asterales. Examples include the giant lobelia (Lobelia deckenii) and the giant gruundsells (Dendroenecio johnstonii).
The order Asterales currently includes 11 families, over 2,000 genera and well over 35,000 species, with the largest family being the Asteraceae

In the order Asterales, the Aster, or Daisy family (family Asteraceae) alone, according to several botanical authorities, is considered to be the largest family in the plant kingdom, which family has sixteen sub-families, over 1,900 genera and more than 32,000 species.
