A Journey of a Thousand Days, The Eighth One Hundred Days
Friday, 26 October 2017 through Friday, 02 February 2018
(Day 700 TB) 48°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up to a clear sunny morning, drive to the w-mart for coffee and com. At ten, I call the auto parts warehouse in Dallas to confirm that they have the front bumper in stock. The sales person says yes, one last one. I ask, do I need to put a hold on it and he says no. I leave the w-mart in Texarkana and drive three hours to Grand Prairie which is right next to Dallas, stop at the ap-mart, walk inside and ask for the bumper. He writes up a ticket and I wait for fifteen minutes and finally, the sales person comes out and tells me that they can not find the part. I gave him my name and phone number and told him to call me if he finds it an then leave.
Next, I drive to a d-mart and ask if they have the tire that I am looking for and they do find one. A technician puts the tire on the rim and then begins to balance the tire on the machine but he does not follow the method that I have learned. When I ask him about what he is doing, he tells me that this way is a static balance. He spins the tire, puts weights only on the inside even though it shows the outside needs weights also. He then spins the tire again and puts more weights on the inside. Then he spins it again and puts more weights on the outside a total of five weights at over three ounces and finally after spinning it again it goes zero-zero.
I go in and pay for the tire, come back out to get my wheel and there is someone else who hands me the wheel. It tell him that I do not like all the weights, five of them that were put on the tire and he offers to balance it again. He take all the weights off and spins it once. The machine says it needs once ounce on the inside and half an ounce on the outside which he puts on, then spins the tire again and the machine comes up zero-zero.
Now, that is what I remember about how it is suppose to be done. I tie the new wheel to the roof of the jammer and drive out of Dallas, take a couple of connecting interstate highways and then head south on US 67 stopping in Midlothian at the w-mart to buy a cookie. They are out so I just get a glass of water.
Some time after sunset, I drive to the d-mart as set up for the night.
(Day 701 TB) 49°F. 7:00 am, clear
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon arising, I find that the tree that I parked near had resulted in the deposit of a lot of grackle poop on the jammer. I must remember not to park near trees where grackles roost, not even close by to one like I did last night. I suppose that the tell tale sign of where not to park is to look at the concrete to see if it is covered with grackle poop. I then drive to the w-mart, purchase a cup of coffee and begin pounding keys.
I use my rewards at the w-mart to purchase two meals today, having accumulated four free purchases. Then, at the end of the day, I pack out, drive to the aw-mart to clean all the grackle poop off of the jammer, then drive to the d-mart to park as far away from the grackle trees as possible and read before going to sleep.
It has been cold all day and tonight is no different, I get out both of my extra blankets and cover up.
(Day 702 TB) 31°F. 7:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Last evening, after spreading the blankets over me, I slept warm all night. Upon getting up, I start the jammer engine and get back under the blankets to wait for the heater to take the chill out of the jammer. Then, I dress in my winter blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee and to use one of my rewards to purchase a free salad. Next, I sit on my coffee while pounding keys until noon. Then, I pack out for places south.
Driving south on US 67, I arrive at Glen Rose, turn right on SH 205 and drive three miles to
Dinosaur Valley State Park, show the ranger my Disable Veteran pass and he welcomes me to Dinosaur Valley. I drive into the campground, stop at the bath house and take a steamy hot shower.
Then, I drive out of the park, and continue south on US 67 until I turn left on SH 210 to Hico, Texas where I connect with US 281 and continue south to Marble Falls, arriving at the w-mart an hour before sunset.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171028.1754) Bridge over the Colorado River at Marble Falls, TX
I take a photo of the view from the w-mart parking lot, then go inside to upload files to my website. I check the meeting schedule for tomorrow and find the English meeting is not until the late afternoon, so I will do some work on the jammer in the morning.
At sunset, I come back outside for a photo but the sunglow is not the best here.
(Day 703 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, clear, dry
Overnighting in a parking lot
I arise, walk into the d-mart for the mens room, and also buy some veggies for today. Then I walk back to the jammer and put the new tire on the front left of the jammer and take that wheel and put in on the top where it will stay until one of the back tires wears out or goes flat for some reason.
Later, I go to the hall for the meeting, a hall that I have been to once before. Afterwards, I return to the w-mart and work on the journal until about six when I begin looking for the sun to set.
At six-thirty, the sun sets and I go outside to photograph it.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171028.1858) Sunset over the Colorado River at Marble Falls, TX
Then, I pack out and drive to Kerville, Texas for the evening, only an hour drive away. However, upon leaving south out of Marble Fall, I realize I need to buy gasoline so, I turn around and go back into town, buy gas and then start again long after the sunset and watch the sunglow dim while driving south on US 281. In Johnston City, I turn right on US 290 and drive to Fredericksburg then south on SR 16 to Kerrville where I find the d-mart and stop for the night.
(Day 704 TB) 43°F. 7:00 am, clear, dry
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake late again, drive across the street for coffee but stop on the patio of the of the w-mart before going inside to take a photo of the view of the lake and I can see the fall colors are beginning to show in the trees.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171030.1139) Nimitz Lake on the Guadalupe River
Today, I work most of this day at work setting up Facebook accounts for each of the personas in the Wayfarers Journal saga episodes, those accounts for Cobalto Azul, Indigo Breaux and Tommy Michel.
At six-thirty, I go outside for a photo but there is not much except the light of the sun and the afterglow but I take several photos and choose one to upload.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171030.1840) Sunglow over Nimitz Lake in Kerrville
After the sunset, I get into the jammer, drive into town and stop at a restaurant I notices the last time I was here but did not stop there. As I walk inside, there is a stream running across the front of the building over which a bridge crosses.
Then, upon entering the huge lobby, there is an introductory display paragraph which tell about the building architecture, that it is patterned after buildings in such great architectural cities as Guadalajara, San Augustine, San Antonio and San Miguel de Allende. Methinks, yes, the architecture in those four cities is great, as I noticed when I visited each one.
While I was admiring the little city inside the building, I was not disappointed at all about the food here, it is among the best Mexican I have had, just like Mommy′s. When available, I always order the grilled fish and here it was extraordinary. The guacamole salsa included sour cream which made it to die for.
After leaving the restaurant, I drive back to the d-mart, park and climb into the back for the evening.
(Day 705 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up at the alarm, which I have changed to wake me at seven and it is still dark upon waking. Next week, the time will fall back and seven will become six. So, for some time now, I have been conditioning my sleep to wake me up to my winter schedule.
I go outside for the sunset but it disappears behind the clouds and it just gets gray. I drive to the d-mart for another nights rest.
(Day 706 TB) 59°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting in a parking lot
Rise, drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and key pounding, not stoping until after eight-thirty this evening at which time I then upload my work and pack out for another night of rest.
Again, the sunset was not remarkable.
(Day 707 TB) 59°F. 7:00 am, fog
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake slowly, rise, drive to the w-mart for a cup and then begin pounding keys.
Then, at six, I pack out, drive to the burger house for a what and then dress for the meeting. I arrive at the hall by six thirty, park and a brother wearing shorts and a tee shirt walks out and up to me to tell me that the congregation is in San Antonio this weekend for the assembly. I ask him where in San Antonio and he tells me. We talk for a while and I find out that he is from southern California and is the Spanish circuit overseer for the hill country.
Leaving the hall, I drive back to the d-mart, set up for the night and read for a while before going to sleep. Later, an overnighters arrives, parks next to me and turns on a generator. What a totally inconsiderate person! May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your ear. I move and go back to sleep only to be awaken again by a truck running his engine. What a disturbing night.
(Day 708 TB) 62°F. 7:00 am, fog
Overnighting in a parking lot
The truck engine awakes me and I rise, drive to the w-mart for coffee and to pound keys for a short time while waiting for the daylight. This morning, like yesterday is heavy with fog and very humid so I will wait until it burns off before packing out.
It is not until after ten this morning when I leave the w-mart and then drive east out of Kerrville and follow some roads through the hill country until I arrive at Lukenback, Texas. I pull in, grab my camera and walk through town. Well, I guess you can call it a town as it is more like a Texas saloon expanded into several buildings and includes a large gift shop. Methinks, this is no more than a turkey shoot. It is still early and I am able to take some photos without the hoards of turkeys normally in the area.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1100) Luckenback, Texas, now just another Turkey Shoot
Immediately upon leaving Luckenback, I see a field of goats but notice something strange about them. I stop for closer inspection and discover the males of this herd all are three-horned.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1144) Three-horned Goats
I drive east on SH 1888 and next stop at Blanco State park and find the campground to be completely full for the weekend. I go in and check out the shower but it has a lock on the door with a numeric access pad for entery. No shower at this park.
Leaving Blanco, I drive north on US 281, east on US 290 and then stop at Pedernales Falls state park, finding this campground also booked for the weekend. I still go in to the bird blind, one that I have found to be possibly the best in Texas.
I am not disappointed as there are many birds who come to the bird baths and feeders during my short visit at the blind.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1404) Male Pyrrhuloxia after taking a bath
(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1406) Male Cardinal waiting for the bath

(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1445) Male Ladderback Woodpecker having peanut butter
Upon leaving Pedernales Falls, I drive to Wimberley, Texas and stop at the down town cafe for a late lunch of grilled chicken, salad, and baked squash.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171103.1603) A stop at the Cafe in Wimberley, Texas
I drive south on SR 12 to San Marcos, the south on IH 35 to New Braunfels, Texas, pull of the highway and into a d-mart to park for the night. From here, it will only be a short drive into San Antonio tomorrow morning for the circuit assembly at the assembly hall. It is a very warm evening.
(Day 709 TB) 65°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
After rising, I put on my suit, drive to the ff-mart for a cup of coffee and then drive into San Antonio to the assembly hall arriving early. I park in the parking lot and wait for the time to go inside. I am so glad that I am able to make it to this assembly as I had missed it by two weeks when I left Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Also, I have found out that the www.jw.org web site now includes assemblies and conventions in the meetings lookup section, which is where I located the address of the
San Antonio assembly hall to key into my GPS.
(m7cv-satx.20171104.0744) Arriving at the Assembly Hall before eight am.

(b1a11-12-07f.20171104.0830) San Antonio Assembly Hall Stage
After the assembly, I drive to Gonzales, Texas, find the d-mart and set up for the evening.
(Day 710 TB) 72°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up before the alarm and notice that there is light on the horizon. I dump my garbage and then drive to the ff-mart for coffee and key pounding. Just before noon, I pack out and drive to the nearby state park and check in for the evening. The cost is eighteen dollars for electric and water and I do not mind because once a month, it is nice to have electric so I can use my food processor and fully charge my batteries.
Too, there is always that hot shower thing and upon arriving in the park, drive first to the shower house where I immerse myself in steamy hot water. Next, I find space five, park the jammer and begin cleaning the inside, then wash my plastic clothing and finally get out the computer to pound keys until it begins to get dark.
I don′t know which is worse, the flies inside the jammer before sunset or the hoard of insects after sunset. I found out today that oil of anise is a great bug repellant, just put some oil of anise in the wash and it keeps the little buggers from approaching. I really need some tonight.
After the sunset, I go to the shower house and take a second hot shower, then return to the jammer to pound keys for a bit longer while it cools off from the high temperature it reached today. I don′t know what is worse not, hot inside the jammer or bugs outside. Remind me to buy some window screen.
Since the time change today, the light is on the morning side of the day, with the sun rising much earlier. I know that to deal with the early sunset each evening that will persist through to the end of the year, I will need to find a w-mart that is open late, possibly as late as ten in the evening. That will allow me to work on my computer and not have to deal with the annoying buggers.
(Day 711 TB) 75°F. 6:00 am, warm
Palmetto State Park, CRS: 5.0
I rise early, roll up the electric cord and drive to the shower house for one more hot shower after which I take a long cold shower. Then, I drive out of the state park, stopping to take photos of some of the amenities.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171106.0809) Palmetto State Park Shower House
(b1a11-12-07f.20171106.0813) Palmetto plants near the swamp
Leaving the park, I drive east on IH 10, exit at Columbus and drive south on SR 71 until I arrive at US 90 Alternate when I turn east and drive towards Rosenberg. I make a stop at the Colorado river to photograph the train trestle and find a gravel road that leads to a boat launch and was not expecting to find this small park here but took several photos.
(b1a11-12-07f.20171106.1024) Colorado River Train Trestle at US 90 Alternate
(b1a11-12-07f.20171106.1031) Colorado River Train Trestle boat ramp park
Now that I know that this park exists, it can serve as an overnight parking area when I am approaching Houston from the west side. I will keep it in mind for the next time I drive through this area.
However, since it is still early in the morning, I will continue driving towards my destination of League City and arrive there in the early afternoon, stop at the w-mart, go inside for the air conditioning, the WiFi and the electricity. I do not need coffee because I stopped for some on the interstate and go a second cup when I purchased gasoline. Inside, I work on updating my journal entry, adding a post to Facebook and general key pounding.
At eight this evening, I use another one of my rewards to have a chicken and quinoa salad with black beans. Then when the store closes at ten, I pack out and head to the d-mart for the evening.
(Day 712 TB) 72°F. 7:00 am, 90% humidity
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up at the alarm, rise and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and WiFi to work on my campsite index and pages. I am able to accomplish quite a bit of the new index for the campsites, completing all the gallery pages and linking them to the index page. Next, I must needs add the information and photos to the gallery pages, which I will begin tomorrow.
At eight this evening, I pack out and head for the d-mart.
(Day 713 TB) 59°F. 6:00 am, cloudy
Overnighting in a parking lot
Rising early, I drive to the w-mart, purchase a cup of hot and begin pounding keys because my goal for today is to synchronize of all of the campsite pages.
In late afternoon, Susan sends me a text and I respond to her with Where are you? and she replies with a page on my book. I laughed and text back, No, not in my book, where are you on the ground? to which she texts in Friendswood, so I tell her that she is not far from where I am sitting in w-mart. She comes by and we share a cup of hot and talk for a long time.
After she leaves, I continued pounding keys and by nine-thirty, I have got all of the campsite pages create, looking alike and have added text and photos to the nines, eights, and most of the sevens.
Wow, what a long day. I keep working until the w-mart closes and then pack out, drive to the d-mart and crash for the evening.
(Day 714 TB) 53°F. 7:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Rise and drive to the w-mart for another day of pounding keys. After I create the new part eight for chapter 57 and update all the associated pages, I then return to the work on the campsite pages.
At ten this morning, Gary, an acquaintance from previous visits at this w-mart comes in and we talk for a short time. I do have to ask his name and he does the same for my name but we both remember each one′s face. He leave to go back to his work and I return to pounding keys.
At four this afternoon, I pack out to find a Mexican restaurant to eat at before the meeting tonight. Then, at six, I dress in my suit and head for the hall, the one on SH 646 and arrive early. Going inside, I join the Dickinson congregation for the meeting. Three here I know well, Armando, Candle and Toni. Of course there are others but these three I consider close. After the meeting, I drive back to the d-mart and park for the nigh.
(Day 715 TB) 53°F. 6:00 am, sun, 80%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Wake up to an orange sunglow, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee, WiFi and key pounding.
Then at four in the afternoon, I pack out and go for supper at a nearby brewery which is feeding veterans for free. I have a salmon steak and salad. Afterwards, I drive back to the d-mart and get an early start on sleep.
(Day 716 TB) 62°F. 5:45 am, 90%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up to an ever so dim sunglow in the east, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart for a free veterans day coffee. At eight, I leave and go to a nearby restaurant for a free breakfast and see Armando and Floyd both eating breakfast at a table. I join them, order mine and we talk while they finish eating. After they leave, my breakfast arrives and I enjoy my meal.
Afterwards, I go to the d-mart to buy enough oil for an oil change for the jammer. Later, I head to the next restaurant where I will be having my free lunch after which, I return to the w-mart and pound keys the rest of the afternoon. At five this afternoon, I pack out once more and head north on the IH 45 for a free supper, after which I return to the w-mart before six thirty and begin pounding keys again.
(Day 717 TB) 65°F. 6:00 am, 85%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake just before the alarm, rise, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee, com and key pounding. At eleven this morning, I pack out, dress in my suit at the back of the jammer and then drive to the hall which is about two miles east on SH FM646. After the meeting I hand out and visit for a short time with some of the friends that I know. Then, I pack out, drive back to the w-mart and take up a place to pound keys for a time longer.
At eight-thirty, I finish uploading the campsites rated five. Now, I have the fours, threes and free campsites to complete. Wow, this is now going fast. I pack out and drive to the d-mart by nine this evening.
(Day 718 TB) 64°F. 5:55 am, 93%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake before the alarm, rise, dress and then drive to the w-mart to sit in my regular seat for coffee and routine. At four this afternoon, I pack out and drive to the Twin Peaks restaurant for a free veterans supper but the selection is poor and the food not so good. Still, it is free so I eat it. Then I return to the w-mart to pound keys until close.
I pack out, drive to the d-mart and retire.
(Day 719 TB) 65°F. 7:00 am, 99%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up early, just before the sunglow, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and pound keys until noon when my sister calls to tell me she is up and moving. I drive to their home and work a little on the jammer before Susan and I leave for the g-mart for the fixings for supper. Then we return home to prepare supper but I have to leave for the meeting before the meat is done cooking on the grill. I do have a salad before I go out and get dressed.
I drive to the hall and go in to meet the circuit overseer, then listen to his very encouraging talk. Afterwards, I talk briefly to him, some of the friends and finally leave for the d-mart to retire for the evening.
(Day 720 TB) 60°F. 6:00 am, 99%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up to another humid day, turn the windshield wipers on to remove the condensation. Then, I drive to the w-mart for coffee. At nine, I pack out and drive to the hall to listen to the overseers talk at the ministry meeting.
Afterwards, I drive to the Oak Tree house to work on the jammer.
(Day 721 TB) 65°F. 5:00 am, 93%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up before the sunglow, dress in fall blues and drive to the w-mart for coffee and to upload my files to the web site. At nine-thirty, I pack out and drive to the d-mart to purchase the front turn signal bulbs. Yesterday, while parked at the oak tree house, I had removed the front bumper cover to have access to the front light doors and now will take the passenger side bulb out to see the bulb number. When I buy the bulbs, I will drive back to the Oak tree house and work some more on the jammer.
The sockets for the front turn signal bulbs badly need cleaning and I use up the last of my spay cleaner working on the sockets. Then, I squeeze in some dielectric grease and install the bulbs after which I reinstall the two lenses and finally reinstall the bumper.
With the hood still up, I remove the air cleaner to gain access to the horn, disconnect the wire, clean the terminal and add dielectric grease to this connection also. Then I check the horn and find it to be working better that it has for days. At four this afternoon, I clean up the jammer, pack everything away and then go inside to sit and talk with Susan until she is ready to go to work. At six pm, I leave, drive to the d-mart to do some Google guide locations before retiring for the evening.
(Day 722 TB) 69°F. 7:00 am, 96%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Sleep in for a while this morning, then drive to the w-mart to work on the Bird Gallery but do not accomplish much before packing out and driving the oak tree house where I put on my work clothes and change the oil. Later, Susan comes out and I find out that my oil of Anise was not delivered today but has been delayed.
Then, I go out for Mexican food, next to the w-mart and finally to the d-mart for the night. It is early when I retire because my legs are throbbing again.
(Day 723 TB) 70°F. 6:00 am, 94%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up right away, dress and drive to the w-mart for my regular cup of coffee, com and WiFi until late morning when I drive to the oak tree house to work more on the jammer.
At six in the evening, I leave and drive back to the w-mart to pound keys still more. Outside, the wind picks up markedly which indicates that the front has arrived and with it cooler weather. This front most likely will mark the change of the seasons which will means overall cooler weather but also the beginning of increased precipitation. It is after nine when I leave, drive to the d-mart and set up for another evening.
(Day 724 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, clear
Overnighting in a parking lot
With the cooler air, I slept good last night, even choosing to sleep in an hour after the alarm. Upon rising, I drive to the w-mart, purchase coffee and a spinach egg wrap, then sit down to catch up on my journal writing and do my study for today′s meeting.
(Day 725 TB) 49°F. 6:15 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Up to a cool crisp morning with clouds and sunglow in the sky, drive to the w-mart for coffee and com. Then, I begin pounding keys wanting to get a lot done on the birding gallery.
(Day 726 TB) 50°F. 6:00 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, dress, drive to the w-mart, drink coffee, and of course, the never ending key pounding.
At eight-thirty this evening, I upload my work to the internet, pack out an head to the d-mart for the evening.
(Day 727 TB) 57°F. 7:00 am, 90%

Repeat.
However, today I am able to complete all of the song bird gallery indexes with each have a few bird galleries to select and view the photos. Next on my schedule is to add more bird galleries connected to these indexes. I pack out a eight-thirty this evening, drive to the d-mart and take up my spot for the evening.
(Day 728 TB) 45°F. 6:00 am, 84%
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon rising, I drive directly to the w-mart, take up my regular seat, purchase a cup of coffee and begin pounding keys to work on the next gallery, the Inland Water Birds which has five gallery indexes to complete. I suspect this will take me the rest of the month, but after completing the Song Bird gallery with it′s four indexes, I have a good template to go by which should reduce the work somewhat. Well, now I need to stop journaling and get to work.
At five-thirty, I stop pounding keys, pack out and look for a place to eat. What I find is that due to the worldly holiday, nearly everything is closed. The d-mart, however is packed for the Black Friday celebration with the entire parking lot filled, which tells me that I will not be parking there tonight. I do find the burger place called What open and stop to purchase a double meat sandwich with extra onions. After, that, I dress in my suit and drive to the hall for the meeting which I find to be very encouraging for me.
After the meeting, I drive to the oak tree house and park on the street. It is after ten this evening before I am able to get horizontal.
(Day 729 TB) 47°F. 8:00 am, sun
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Wake to a cold morning, then after sleeping in longer rise and drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding.
Today, I pound keys to the tune of creating another bird gallery index and then upload it to the web site. After long hours
(Day 730 TB) 55°F. 7:00 am, 90%
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Awake, rise, and drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding. When I first sit down, I meet a young man named Gene and we talk about Bible. He tells me that he is a spiritual person but is not interested in religion. I endeavor to help him to see the value of studying the Bible and even show him the short video Why Study the Bible? and afterwards, he asks, What was that website in case I want to watch the video again? I tell him JW, just JW and a few moments later say, dot org.
Around two in the afternoon, I pack out, drive to the oak tree house, go inside to find Susan just getting up. I take a shower, after which I sit with Susan for a while and have some pumpkin pie, cheese cake and then salad.
Later, I leave to go to the p-mart and check to see if I am allowed to switch the numbers in my two phones, they both have your service. The clerk says, That is really simple, just take the SIM cards out of both phones and switch them. I move over to a counter, turn off the phones, take the covers off and switch the SIM cards. Next, I put the phones back together, turn them both on and use each phone to call the other and it works perfectly. Wow! That really was simple. I begin asking a few more questions and soon, I realize that buying my phone at the w-mart is not at all the better way to go. The cost here at the p-mart is the exact same price that I paid at the d-mart one month ago and the clerks here can answer any and all the question about the phones and the service, where the clerks at the d-mart are just low paid people who not only did not know the answers to my question but did not have a clue about where to go to find the answers.
After that, I sit in the parking lot outside the store to use their WiFi and later retire back to the oak tree house. I walk inside to find Susan sitting in front of the TV watching college football and join her. Some time after sunset, Susan leaves to go Uber and I continue watch the apple bowl until half time. Then, I go out to the jammer and get horizontal for the evening.
(Day 731 TB) 59°F. 5:00 am, 95%
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Awake and can not find my keys and spend an hour searching. I remember last night, I used the keys to lock the Oak Tree house after watching part of the apple bowl college football game, but I did not put them in their place and now I just can not find them. I then go inside to use the rest room and upon returning outside, the light of day has arrived and after opening up all the doors, I begin my search again. After a short search, I find them on the front passenger seat under my catch-all bin.
Methinks, I must remember to put them in their place every evening when I park. I then start the jammer and drive to the w-mart for coffee. I put a load of clothes in the wash, take a shower and then put on my meeting clothes.
At eleven-thirty, I pack out and drive to the hall for the weekend meeting, after which, I return to the oak tree house to finish my laundry and then hang all the clothes on the rack in the back of the jammer. Then, I hose off the curb where I have been parking and sweep the leaves and mud into a pile which I then remove with my dust pan and put back into the dirt spaces in the yard. Finally, I drive back to the w-mart and while waiting for a software update to finish, play some solitaire.
At eight this evening, I drive to the oak tree house, park and climb into the back to sleep. At almost eleven, when I awake needing to go to the restroom, I look and see Susan′s car in the driveway and the lights on. Then, I go in, say hello to Susan and after using the restroom, sit with Susan and talk for a while before returning to the jammer to sleep more.
(Day 732 TB) 55°F. 7:00 am, clear
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
When finally rising, I drive to the w-mart for coffee. I have been using my new phone account to access the internet as it has six gigabytes of data available. In doing this, I have discovered an interesting way to get online wherever I happen to be, by using my old phone as a mobile hot spot.
(Day 732 TB) 59°F. 7:00 am, clear
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
After sleeping late for a second day, I rise, drive to the w-mart for my coffee and to pound keys. I continue to work at trying to use up the six gigabytes of data that I purchased and top three before noon by finishing the upgrade of my tablet. Then I go back to pounding keys in continuation of setting up the bird gallery indexes.
In the late afternoon, I meet Mike and Erika who have come into the w-mart for a cup of hot, and we talk for a short while. In the conversation, I bring up the Bible and give them a witness about the Kingdom. Mike reveals that Erika′s father is one of Jehovah′s Witnesses. He also mentions that he really sees that we are living in what the Bible calls the last days and has been thinking about it a lot.
(Day 733 TB) 52°F. 6:00 am, Clear
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Arise to an orange glow on the horizon, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart to purchase a cup of coffee. Then, I take my seat in my office corner and begin my work of never ending key pounding. However, the WiFi does not work here at this w-mart and since my date phone service end at noon, when Susan sends me a text saying hello, I pack out to drive to visit with her. By one this afternoon, I leave the oak tree house and drive to the w-mart on FM 2094 so that I might have WiFi access. I set up in my office spot and continue pounding keys.
At eight-thirty this evening, I pack out and drive to the oak tree house, park and upon seeing the lights on inside, go in and visit with Susan and Lauren. An hour later, I walk back out to the jammer and retire for the evening.
(Day 734 TB) 65°F. 6:00 am, fog
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Awake by my alarm, rise, dress, drive to the w-mart for coffee and find that the WiFi is back up so I add some money to my gold card and buy a cup of coffee. Tommy, one of the baristas greets me saying It′s Thom with an H and we talk for a short time. Then, I begin pounding keys to catch up on my journal writing. Afterwards, I check my com and make replies to all communications. At eight-thirty, I pack out to the jammer, put on my suit and drive to the hall for the ministry meeting.
Arriving just in time for the meeting, I listen to Brother Jimmy talk about the importance of listening to our family at this time of the year and search for an opportunity to witness to them when appropriate. Later, I return to the w-mart to pound keys for a bit longer.
(Day 735 TB) 55°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Up, moving, and soon sipping on a cup of coffee at the w-mart and back to key pounding. Later, I pack out to find something to eat and stop at a Mexican restaurant.
Then, I dress in my suit and drive to the hall for the meeting. Afterwards, I drive to the d-mart and park for the evening.
(Day 736 TB) 58°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake, drive to the w-mart and begin pounding keys. In the afternoon, Susan stops by on her way to the d-mart, buys a cup of hot and then sits with me to talk for a while.
After she leaves, I continue until six when I pack out, drive to the p-mart to pay for another month of service on my phone and then to the e-mart to purchase a memory card. The cost for the SD card at the d-mart was fifty dollars and at the e-mart on thirty-six dollars, same card, same manufactures, just cheaper at the e-mart.
Then, I drive back to the d-mart and park for the evening.
(Day 737 TB) 60°F. 7:00 am, sun
Overnighting in a parking lot
Rise, dress and then try to start the jammer but the battery does not seem to be strong enough to turn over the engine. I walk into the d-mart, walk to the automotive department and find a portable battery block jump starter, the same one that I have been looking at for about six months, carry it to the checkout counter and pay the sixty-five dollars. Then, I return to the jammer, connect the battery block it to the battery in the jammer and then start the engine. Wow, technology is such a remarkable thing and I thank Jehovah for making it easy for me to get to the ministry meeting today.
Next, I put on my suite, drive to the hall and then go out in the ministry for the morning with Kevin and Tony. At noon, we arrive back at the hall and I have to do the same thing again to get the engine started, but I also get out the tool box and use a wrench to tighten the battery connections. Then, I drive to the w-mart for my lunch because I have a reward on my card and use it to buy a chicken salad.
Leaving the w-mart, the battery is again dead and use the jump block a third time ant then drive to a Mexican restaurant for supper. Afterwards, I try using the jump block but can not get the engine to turn over, apparently the battery block is drained. So I get out my jumper cables and immediately, someone asks if they can help. (Only in Texas!)
Using the cables starts the engine starts, so I drive to the ap-mart and ask the clerk what he thinks the problem is. After informing Joe what has been happening, he says that it is either the battery or the alternator. I tell him that the battery is new, less than a year old, (I got it on
Day 517 TB) so, the alternator must be the problem.
I then say that it too late tonight for me to work on the engine and ask if it would be alright for me to park overnight here and then deal with it in the morning. He then suggests that I take the battery out to let him trickle charge it overnight so that he can do the full tests on both the battery and the alternator then. I take the battery out, carry it into the store and then retire for the night in the jammer.
(Day 738 TB) 65°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Full Cold Moon
Overnighting in a parking lot
Awake an hour before the store opens and prepare the jammer for putting the battery back in. When Joe arrives, he says that the battery looked good last night but still plans to test it in the vehicle this morning, so I go to work putting it back in the jammer. Then Joe comes out to the jammer with the tester, puts it on the battery and immediately the tester shows it to be good.
Then he tests the alternator and the tester at first it shows the alternator to be charging but then shows it failing the test. Joe says that it is charging intermittently, but is on it′s way out. I thank him and say that I have a meeting to go to and will wait for the afternoon to replace the alternator. Finally, I pack away my tools.
Methinks, because I make it a practice of keeping a replacement alternator in the jammer, one I acquired on
Day 518 TB, I will do the repair under the oak tree.
Next, I drive to the w-mart for coffee, catch up on my journal writing and plug in the battery block to bring the charge back up to 100 percent. At eleven thirty, I pack out, dress in my suit and head to the hall for then weekend meeting. The sky is overcast and portends rain.
After the meeting, I walk to the jammer in the misting rain, drive back to the w-mart, don my street clothes and go inside for an evening of key pounding. Soon, the downpour begins and is still coming down at eight when I drive to the oak tree hours for another night under the tree. I go inside for s short time to talk with Susan, telling her that since the rain has begun, I will be leaving soon but I first have to put a new alternator in the jammer. She says that it is better to do it here than on the road and I tell her that I agree with that.
(Day 739 TB) 66°F. 7:15 am, sunny
Overnighting under the oak tree
I arise to the bright sun coming into the jammer, dress, text Susan that I am going for coffee and ask here to text me when she gets up. Then I drive to the w-mart, purchase coffee and sit at my desk here and catch up on my journal. At ten this morning, I pack out and return to the oak tree house to begin working on my engine.
After changing the alternator, the new one I purchased does not fix the problem as the check battery light is still on. I drive to the ap-mart and they check the alternator, tell me that the alternator is bad and will order me another one which will arrive by noon tomorrow. I leave the ap-mart, drive back to the oak tree house, park the jammer and after connecting the battery charger, climb inside and begin pounding keys until late.
At suntouch, Susan comes outside to work in the yard. When I see that the moon has risen, I grab my camera, walk to where Susan and begin take photos of the moon.
(Day 740 TB) 51°F. 8:00 am, overcast
Overnighting under the oak tree
I get up late and work on my computer all morning. When Susan rises, she takes me to the ap-mart to get the new alternator after which, we return to her home. She goes back into the house but I hear a bird call that I have been hearing for years but have never been able to even see the bird except from a distance and from that, I believe it is a small hawk of some type. I grab my camera and then see another bird flitting in the oak tree and take several photos which allow me to id the bird as a Blue Jay. Later, when I look at the photos, I find one good one to upload.
Then, in the afternoon, the rain begin to come down, sometimes really hard and it continues to rain the rest of the day and all night. I just get comfortable in the jammer and spend the time pounding keys and finally get into the sack some time after ten this evening.
(Day 741 TB) 46°F. 8:00 am, rain
Overnighting under the oak tree
After sleeping in late this morning, I rise, grab my computer and go in to the oak tree house to make a cup of coffee and sit at the board.
A little later, I return to the jammer and begin working on the file transfer from my old laptop to the new one that I have purchased recently. It has a 512 gigabyte solid state hard drive, which means that the hard drive has no working parts, accessed data faster and uses a lot less battery power. I have been looking at these laptops for about a year and black Friday was the first time thth what I wanted in it was less than a thousand dollars. Needless to say, I bought it and have been working for several days to transfer my files. I still need several more days to complete the transfer of files and spend time in the jammer with a blanket covering me as I work on the computer until late.
(b1a11-51-08a.20171206.1650) The fire place at the Oak Tree House
Later in the day, I go in and sit with Susan and Chad in the living room and watch the television. It is amazing to me how much time is wasted watching the television and pounding keys on the phone by most people in the world, my sister and her family included. I must needs excuse myself as quickly as possible each day to avoid the huge waste of time sitting in front of the flat screen. I leave, walk out to the jammer and open the Bible to read before going to sleep.
(Day 742 TB) 43°F. 7:30 am, rain
Overnighting under the oak tree
Awake after dayspring, replace the alternator with the second one but the check battery light is still on, indicating the problem is something else, not the alternator.
(b1a11-51-08a.20171209.1715) The New Alternator in the Jammer
I have been charging the battery and now drive to the ap-mart to return the first alternator. Then I ask Joe about what else could be the problem and he tell me that it has to be a fuse. I tell him there is not one under the dash and have replaced one under the hood and he says there must be another one.
Then, when another customer walks up, Joe asks him, Don′t
you work in a shop? to which the customer answers yes. Then Joe posses the question about the burnt fusible link problem to him and he replies, A fusible link is a long length of wire and you just did not get all of the old fusible link out. I buy some large gauge red wire and decide that I need to replace the whole length of wire in the wiring harness from the alternator to the battery.
Then, I leave to drive back to the oak tree house and stop at the w-mart to work online for a couple of hours. Finally, I drive back to the oak tree house to work, go inside to find everyone home. Susan says that she is going to the post office and asks if I want to come. I tell her yes, go out to the jammer to get the letter that I have been wanting to mail, and then get in the car with Susan. After the post office, we stop at the ap-mart, then another mart and finally return back to her home.
By now, it is dark, raining and cold outside, just what I have been wanting to avoid here on the Texas coast. However, since I am here, I will make the best of it and endeavor to share Bible insights with my sibling and her family.
At eight-thirty this evening, I retire to the jammer and work on my computer for a while, then, I get horizontal by eleven.
(Day 743 TB) 32°F. 6:00 am, snow
Overnighting under the oak tree
When my alarm goes off, I rise to view out the window to look outside for snow. I know that for it to snow in southeast Texas is a rare thing, in fact, it has only snowed in Houston 35 times in the last 122 years. However, Houston city limits extends some twenty miles to the north or downtown, almost to Spring and Porter, Texas and in these areas, there are traditionally much colder winters. These are most likely the locations where many of those thirty-five snows occurred. Furthermore, the closer one lives to the coast of Texas or even Galveston bay, the less likely they will experience snow days as they become even rarer.
Well, it snowed here in League City and in some places there is about half an inch, but once the sun rose above the horizon the snow to quickly melted and soon disappeared entirely.

(b1a11-51-08a.20171208.0650) Parking under the Oak Tree
By ten, is was nearly gone and at eleven, there was little evidence where I am that it even snowed last night. I am glad that I got up early.
This is the first snow in Houston for over eight years. Snow in southeast Texas from the intercontinental to Galveston causes traffic accidents, causes some schools to close and most to start late. Galveston got the first snow in a very long time. Photos of snowmen on bare green grass are everywhere.
It has been much too cold all day, which causes me to choose to stay inside the jammer this morning and work on the file transfer between the old and new computer. Later, Susan sends me a text to invite me in for coffee, I come in and continue pounding keys until after dark. Then, I retire to the jammer for the evening.
(Day 744 TB) 30°F. 8:00 am, sun
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
The day begins with another freezing morning, however, this one is totally absent the precipitation and it does not take long for the sun to warm the area up. By ten the temperature reaches forty, but I am waiting for fifty degrees before I open the hood.
By noon, the temperature is well above fifty degrees and I get out, dress and fix a cup of daystart. Then, I make a cup of coffee, get out my tools and begin trying to find where the charging system wire is open. With the engine off, I start by checking for voltage at the alternator, a wire that is connected directly to the battery positive but it has no voltage. This proves to me that there is an open circuit in the charging system. Next, I disconnect the battery and set in on some cardboard after which I check for continuity on the same wire and it also shows open.
Then I begin to unwrap the wire to find where it travels in the harness after which I decide to run a new wire along the same path. I begin to disconnect the pigtail that I added to the end of the burned fusible link and when pulling the cap off of the fuse holder, I see that the 20 amp fuse is burned. Methinks, that is odd, could this be the cause of the bad charging circuit. I replace the bad fuse with a new one and when checking the continuity again, the wire shows to be good.
Because the twenty amp fuse does not work in this charging circuit, this changes the entire repair that I will have to make. I believe that all I have to do is replace the pigtail with a 12 gauge wire and not include the fuse holder. I begin right away and rewire the end of the charging circuit, re-install the battery and hook up all the wires. Then, I turn on the engine and find the check battery light is no longer on, wow, the charging circuit is fixed. Now, I just have to remove the battery and retape all the wires that I have unwrapped. I also need to re-route the wire around the battery for better effect. Finally, I put the air cleaner back on, close the hood and start the engine one more time just to see if the charging system is still working. Yep, it is.
I walk up to the house to tell Susan and see that Chad is replacing the rear breaks on his truck and he say, I hate doing these stupid drum brakes. I sit down and soon I see that he is having a hard time removing a clip. I ask if I can show him something and when he says, Sure, go ahead. I pick up a different pair of pliers and grab hold of one end of the clip with it and pointing to the other end say, Put that screw driver right here and hit it with the hammer while I hold the brake shoe. After three taps, the clip comes off. I continue to sit there and help him to finish the brake job and soon, he is putting the wheel back on. He tells me, Thanks for helping me.
Susan then comes out on her way to work and I tell her that the jammer is running again and I am going to the ap-mart. I leave, drive there and return the six dollar spool of wire that I did not need. Then, I drive to the e-mart to purchase a large external hard drive and a couple of other items. Next, I drive to the d-mart, park, climb into the back and set up at my desk to finish moving all of my files off of the old computer. It takes several hours to move my photos to the new drive and while waiting for the transfer to complete, I work on my journal writing and get up to date. At ten-thirty, the moving window shows that there is less than twenty minutes left.
When the transfer completes, I check and I have two hundred and seventy gigabytes of mostly photos in the new drive, which still has six hundred and fifty gigabytes left.
I shut down the computer, the jammer and then get horizontal with only minutes to spare before eleven o′clock this evening.
Then, while waiting for sleep to come, methinks, thank you Jehovah for making this day end so wonderfully. Wow, what a beautiful day this has been even though it has been a really long day. Wow, what a lot of work I have accomplished on this day. Too, Wow, Thank You Jehovah for everything.

Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon rising, I dress in my winter blues, step outside and walk to the trash can to dump my garbage bag. Then, I drive to the w-mart, grab my old computer and go inside for a cup of coffee and WiFi. I upload all of the new and revised website files that I have been working on during the past week and then begin studying for the meeting today. At eleven this morning, I pack out, walk out to the jammer, put on my suit and after starting the jammer, drive to the hall for the meeting.

When I rise and look out the window, I see that both Susan and Chad are still at work Ubering. Both began driving for the digital taxi company and make good money, but I am curious how much they are wearing out their vehicles. I start the jammer and head to the w-mart for coffee and to pound keys, still organizing files, which never seems to end with purchasing a new computer.
At eight-thirty this evening, I pack out and head to park in my spot under the oak tree. I climb into the back and get horizontal.

Rise, dress, drive, sip coffee, pound keys.
At six this evening, I join Susan for supper, who has been cooking really nice meals while I am here. She remains my favorite sister. At nine something, I pack out of the oak tree house, walk out to the jammer and get horizontal.

Up really late this morning, walk inside to take a shower and brew a cup of coffee. Then, I return back out to the jammer and dress in my suit, drive to the hall and go in for the ministry meeting.
I work this morning with Andy, Lively and Jim, together we start in the door to door ministry in Baycliff, Texas after which we do return visits in the suburbs surrounding Dickinson. At noon, Andy drops up back at the Hall.
After driving to purchase gasoline, I return to the w-mart and go in for a chocolate brownie and pound on keys until after the sun sets, then drive to the oak tree house, walk inside to find Susan and Chad sitting in front of the TV. I take my spot and later, join them for supper. Afterwards, we watch another show but I excuse myself and go out to the jammer to get horizontal.

Arise, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart and upon arriving at one of the Tuscan Lakes, see a colorful sunglow. I quickly gram my camera and take two photos before another cars pulls up behind me.
(b1a11-51-08a.20171214.0658) The Sunglow over one of the Tuscan Lakes
Then, I continue to the w-mart for coffee and to check com. Then, I begin pounding keys. At four this afternoon, I pack out drive to the ap-mart and order another alternator to keep as a spare. I also look at the battery wrings to determine the best way to change my battery back to the top post style instead of the side screw type. Then, I drive the place for a burger called what, eat supper and change into my suit. After that, I drive to the hall, arrive at six pm, park in the lot and begin my study for tonight′ meeting. Shortly after seven, I take my Bible, song book and table, walk inside, set my books down on my seat and begin visiting with the friends.
After the meeting, I drive to the d-mart, park, let the engine run while I catch up on my journal writing. Then, at ten-thirty, I turn off the engine, climb into the back and go horizontal.
(Day 750 TB) 50°F. 7:15 am, rain
Overnighting in a parking lot
After listening all night to the rain on the roof of the jammer, I get up, dress in my winter blues and walk into the d-mart to the men&primes room. After looking at a few items in the store, I leave and drive to the w-mart for coffee and to check com.
At ten this morning, I pack out and drive to the oak tree house, go inside to help Chad replace the rollers in the clothes dryer. Both Chad and Susan worked last night and are still asleep but both get up and we all three sit in the living room to watch a U-tube video on how to install new rollers. Then, Chad and I go out into the garage to begin working on the dryer while Susan goes back to bed to sleep longer.
We begin taking off the top, then the front on the dryer, and when we have the drum out, we replace the rollers, one of which is shredded. This repair, even though it takes three hours is not hard to do, especially after viewing the how to video first.
After the dryer is back together and connected to the utilities, I then put a load in the washing machine after which it goes into the dryer but when checking the progress find there is no heat. I go in and ask Chad if he turned the gas valve on and he said no. I go back out, shut the dryer off, turn the gas valve on and then turn the dryer back on. In short time, the dryer has heat in the drying drum and I go back inside to wait for the clothes to dry. Soon, Susan gets up and prepares supper and I join Chad and Susan for another meal.
Afterwards, I leave to drive to the ap-mart to pick up the spare alternator that I purchased yesterday. Then, I stop at the w-mart to check my com and find a message that the bird book I purchased has been delivered. I text Susan to ask if she has received it but do not get a reply and then drive to the oak tree house to find Susan walking back from the mail box. She hands me the book and I tell her that now I am only waiting for the window switch that I ordered. She then leaves for work and since it is about eight pm, I tidy up the back of the jammer.
Before I get horizontal, I get out the old computer and turn it on, thinking I might try to access the boot menu but instead, a blue screen with the words Please Wait, Installing Windows shows on the monitor. Wow, and I thought that the computer had crashed. It takes about thirty minutes and then I am logging in to the Windows 10 start page, after which, I continue to set up the computer, install programs and add background images. It is after ten this evening before I finally get horizontal.
(Day 751 TB) 50°F. 7:00 am, overcast
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
Rise, dress, drive to the w-mart and go in for coffee and to continue setting up the old computer. Previously, I had told Susan that I would give it to her but then told her that the hard drive had crashed when I ran the Reset PC program. The screen would boot but after the initial manufacture′s screen faded, a stationary line would just keep circling for hours and not do anything else.
Thinking that the hard drive had crashed, I turned it off, packed it away and just let it set for several days. I was then not sure what to do with the computer, but kept mulling over what I could do. Finally, last night, I plugged it in to charge the battery, which took close to an hour and about thirty minutes into the charge, the Windows install screen appeared. I was besides myself when I realized that I just did not wait long enough for the program to complete. It took a long time last night but it finally got to the sign in screen.
Today, I continue working on the computer, installing users, programs and organizing the start menu. Once the old computer is set up and ready for me to give to Susan, I pack it away and get out my new one to continue work on the setting it up. At five pm, I pack out and drive to the oak tree house, walk in and hand Susan the old computer. Her eyes light up and she asks Did you fix it? to which I explain to her what happened. When I am showing her the passwords-long in sequence, a popup display says that Windows needs to reboot and upgrade again. So, I tell Susan that I will do the upgrade and also load an old version of Microsoft Office that I have.
Too, knowing that the rain is coming, I walk out to the jammer and add what I have left in a tube of silicon to the driver side roof joint, which during the last rain had a small leak. Soon after, both Susan and Chad leave for work but I remain until ten this evening to monitor the slow upgrade progress and watch an old western movie. When the upgrade finishes, I pack the computer into it′s case and leave it on the sofa, then walk out in the rain to the jammer and find the area inside where it had previously leaked to be dry. I am glad that I have stopped the leak for now but will purchase another tube and go over both roof seams again.
Finally, I put everything in it′s place and get into the horizontal.
(Day 752 TB) 50°F. 8:00 am, rain
Overnighting under the Oak Tree
After it raining most of the night, I awake to a wet morning, dress in my fall blues and drive to the w-mart on Seawolf near the Webster hall where I plan to go for the meeting today. I walk into the coffee house, order a tall pike, sit down and begin pounding keys. It is taking an extending amount of time getting used to the keyboard on my new computer, mostly those in the upper right side, but I am slowly learning where the keys are.
At two-thirty, I go out to the jammer to dress and drive to the hall but while getting dressed, I misplace my keys. I begin searching but after a half hour, I still have not found them so I put my fall blues back on and begin a thorough search and cleaning as I go through the jammer. After the jammer is clean and I still have not found the keys, I decide to get out my tools and make the extension cord for the charging station. I had previously cut and run a length of wire, acquired the two electrical plug ends but had not installed the ends on the wire. So, when I pick up the tool box to place it on the work table, there under the tool box are the keys.
It is too late now to go to the meeting but methinks that what I said several times before remains true: I have too much stuff, so much that I loose things. However, as I previously said, very little is ever really lost, just misplaced until I find it at a later time. Bethinking this helps me to make a determination that next time I loose my keys, I will pray to Jehovah and trust in him to help me find the keys at a later time while keeping the meeting attendance as first priority.
I leave the w-mart, drive back out of Houston to Galveston county, stop at a g-mart for some food and then drive to the d-mart to park for the night.

Up early today, drive to the w-mart for coffee and to update my journal. I also resume working on my bird gallery and updater the land bird indexes.
At five in the evening, I pack out and drive to the oak tree house but find everyone asleep. Chad wakes at six, takes a shower and goes to work. Lauren rises next and finally Susan awakes and we sit in the living room to talk. Then we walk out to the mail box and find that my switch has arrived, so I tell her that I am saying my goodbye today and she gives me several hugs. I still have yet to receive my gold coffee card, nor my Qlink phone but I play to go camping for a couple of days and later check back.
At eight this evening, I retire to the jammer and because my legs are throbbing, climb into the back to horizontalize myself for the night.

Awake, dress and drive to the w-mart for coffee, WiFi and to continue on my bird gallery, completing three inland water bird gallery indexes but still have two left to do.
Just before nine this evening, I pack out of the w-mart, drive to the d-mart and park for the evening, however, it is very humid and warm so I open the sliding window and stay up to pound keys but it does not cool off until after eleven pm.

Rise, dress and walk into the d-mart to use the men′s room, then leave and drive to the w-mart for coffee and com. Then, I begin pounding keys and keep doing so all day.
It is hard to believe that today is the day before the winter solstice and here in southeast Texas, it is nearly eighty degrees and sunny outside. Rather, when I think back to my childhood, I do remember that the winters, although often very wet, were also sometimes quite warm and dry. Yes, this is the only time that I will be in southeast Texas, during the winter months as it is way too hot any other time.
At eight-forty this evening, I finish the last of the Bird Gallery Index pages, well, I will still have to do a typo review before I can say that they are finished. I will most likely begin that soon. Then, I can begin sorting photos for insertion into the gallery. Wow, what an accomplishment! I have been wanting to arrive at this point for a very long time. I pack out and head for the d-mart for the evening,

Winter Solstice
Up, dress, drive to w-mart, pound keys; and this on the shortest day of the year.
At five this evening, I drive to Bay Area boulevard in Harris county, stop at the w-mart there to put on my suit and then drive to the Webster Hall for the meeting with the Bay Area congregation. When I walk in, there are many familiar faces, greetings from the friends and even some hugs. Many ask me how long I am staying and I tell them that I have been here several weeks and have been going to the Dickinson Congregation.
Afterwards, I drive back into Galveston county to the d-mart on SH 949 where I have spent most of my time here this fall.

Rise after a warm night, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart and go inside for another day of key pounding.
Wow, what a long day even though not much of it was in the light of day. Still, the days are now becoming longer despite the season getting colder. Too, I have accomplished very much during the last two day, cropping all the bird photos up though December 2009, uploading them to their online directories, creating the links on the gallery index pages and then creating the gallery pages for the photos.
Soon, I will continue this with those photos taken from January 2010 forward but for today, I am at a good stopping point so will pack out and drive to the d-mart to horizontalize myself.

Awake, dress in my fall blues, drive to the w-mart for a cup of hot and to put on my suit, then drive to the hall in Webster for the ministry meeting. I work with Heinze, June, Garret, with two more and we do return visits until noon. Then, I leave to drive back to the w-mart to check my com and find that one piece of mail I have been waiting for has arrived.
Also, I resume pounding keys and begin to make a small dent in sorting and cropping the many bird photographs that were taken in February of 2010 while along the Rio Grande river and visiting the many bird sanctuaries there. Then, at five this evening, I pack out and drive down the street to the Mexican restaurant for supper.
After have grilled fish, I leave, drive back to Galveston county and stop at the w-mart to study for the meeting tomorrow, then, drive to the d-mart, park, get out of my ministry clothes, dress in my fall blues and run the jammer engine to warm up the van interior. Finally, at eight pm, I climb into the back and put myself into the horizontal for the evening.

Upon rising, I drive to the w-mart for coffee and to sort and crop a few photos while waiting for the first afternoon meeting to begin. At eleven-thirty, I pack out and dress in my suit and drive to the hall for the brotherhood and spiritual refreshment. I enjoy re-visiting these congregations, even if for a short while.
Then, I pack out and drive back to the w-mart to pound keys for a time more until about five when I go to the oak tree house to pick up my mail, after which, I drive to the g-mart to buy some water and pecans, then to the d-mart to park for the evening. It is still before seven when, I climb into the back so I get out my computer and make a journal entry for today.

Up early, get dressed but then go back to sleep and finally arise at seven-thirty. Then, I drive to the w-mart and work on cropping and sorting bird photos all day.
It is after dark when I pack out and head back to the d-mart for the night. I get into the sack soon after I take a alcohol bath to warm myself up.

Rise early again and drive to the w-mart for coffee and key pounding. I have all of my photos on one external hard drive and use it to go through the bird photos, one day at a time, having the photos organized my year, then month, and then by day with some days have more than one directory with photos.
I have completed all the photos up through 2009 and have begun working in the 2010 folder. This is the year that I came back from Mexico in February and visited all the bird sanctuaries along the Rio Grande river valley. When, I left Texas in March and return to Washington, I reestablished my bird feeding routine from my deck and enjoyed watching all the antics of the birds coming to feed. I remained at that location, allways feeding the bird for three years, until my home sold in March of 2013. So, for the next several days, weeks or longer, I will be going through all the bird photos to upload them to the bird gallery on my web site.
It is dark outside by the time I pack out and the work has me crop, identify and sort the photos all the way through December 2010, depositing them into folders. However, I have as yet not begun creating gallery pages for these eighty-two bird folders, many of these folders which contain two or more photos of the species.
I drive to the d-mart, go inside to look for a new blue hooded sweater but they do not have one my size with a zippered front. I do find some royal blue fabric die which I want to use on my wool hat but the instructions tell me that I need to use hot water, which will make this operation harder to accomplish. Still, I have the dye and must needs wait on the hot water to come available.
After shopping, I return to the jammer, clean up using my rubbing alcohol and then get into the horizontal before eight this evening.

After several interesting dreams, I rise before the alarm, dress in my winter blues and drive to the w-mart and go inside for coffee. The sky is overcast today and it is not until after seven does it even begin to illume. I first catch up on my journal writing, then continue in the bird photo work.
My stay here in the Bay Area is just about done as I have been recently and regularly contemplating my route down into south Texas, especially since the temperature is constantly in the low fifties with rain and overcast.
Methinks my first stop will be Brazos Bend state park to use the shower facilities and even do some birding there. Too, I would like to continue south to Goose Island state park for some saltwater birding. However, before I head south, I want to go to the meeting here in Webster tonight.
After another good visit with the friends here in Webster, I leave, drive to the d-mart and because it is after ten pm, I get directly into the horizontal.
