How to Identify The Brotherhood
So, how would a sincere person find out? How would this person locate the brotherhood today? There are so many religions that say they are Christian; where would a person start?
Is it necessary to go to each and every one of the countless thousands of religions who all make the claim of being true disciples of Christ? This task would seem as insurmountable as carrying 100 pounds of lightweight backpacking gear while climbing to the summit of a mountain wearing flip flops.
And yet, if Jesus really wants people to become one of his disciples, and he does, then would not he make the true religion evident, or in the least, provide a way for us to be able to see through the smoke and mirrors of all the multitudinous so called churches whom call themselves Christian.
Do the Will of God
Yes, Jesus did provide a way for us to find his true followers. Please read and meditate on the scriptures that are cited in this writing and see for yourself.
Immediately before he warned his disciples that there would come Workers of Lawlessness, he said to them at Matthew 7:20 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (italics ours)
In fact, the entire seventh chapter of the book of Matthew is about how to determine who his disciples are, how to determine which religion is the true one, and yes, how to see through the smoke and mirrors.
One key to finding the true religion is in studying the Bible to find out what the Will of the Father is and then making the Father′s will the primary focus in one′s life.
No, being a disciple of Christ is not a passive endeavor, rather, those who become disciples must Do the will of the Father.
Jesus Gave an Identifying Mark to Look For?
During his last celebration of the feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour was come when he should depart out of this world unto the Father. Still, he concentrating on teaching his beloved disciples. Yes, he loved them unto the end.
After the meal, Jesus dismissed Judas Iscariot and after Judas went out, Jesus gave his disciple a new commandment. Yes, this commandment would stand the test of time, directing future students to the brotherhood. This commandment tells these prospective brothers what to look for when they quest to find this brotherhood that all began nearly two thousand years ago when our Master walked among us.
At John 13: 34 Jesus said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." (Italics ours)
By adding these five simple words, as I have loved you, to his commandment for those within this brotherhood, Jesus changed the entire scope of the meaning of the word love for his disciples. Yes, he told us that the love we have for the brothers should be as great as his love for us.
In fact, Jesus came here to this earth to die for each and every one of us. So, the love we show our brothers should be as he loved us. Yes, the love we have for the brotherhood must be so powerful, that we should be willing to die for each and every one of our brothers.
Look if you may, and see if you find this type of love among all those thousand of religions who claim to worship God. There is one that stands out, one that puts love of God first in their life and love of neighbor second.
(Matthew 22: 37
, 38
, 39)
Notice what Jesus commanded his disciples to do at
Matthew 28:19, and
20. Would not the true religion take the command in this verse to heart?
Yes, according to what Jesus commanded his disciples to do in the above verses in the book of Matthew, and the love that the Christ had for the brotherhood should move all true Christians to go to their neighbor and tell them about the wonderful things that the future holds out for those who do the will of the Father.
Furthermore, this brotherhood would be known by there public witnessing about
Jehovah God and the one whom He sent forth
Jesus Christ.
