THE PHYLUM ANGIOSPERM
Basal Angiosperms

The Amborellales, Monotypic Order Go Down Go Up
The Order Amborellales is one of the eight orders within the phylum Angiosperm. This order, Amborellales has only one family, one genus and one species.
The Amborella
Amborella, the common name of the species A.trichopoda is the only species in the genus Amborella. This genus, which is a monotypic genus, is the only genus in the family Amborellaceae and this family is the only family in the Order Amborellales. The species, Amborella trichopoda is an organism which is composed of understory plants which forms shrubs and/or small trees.
Amborella is of great interest to plant systematists because molecular phylogenetic analyses consistently place it as the sister group to all other flowering plants, which, in the understanding of the wise men of this world, means it was one of the earliest plants to come into existence separately from all other flowering plants. This fact also includes this plant in the group of basal angiosperms. Too, being of the basal plants would indicate it to have arrived on the earth during the early Paleozoic Era during the Cambrian Period when plants first began to appear in the fossil record.

Phylum Angiosperm
Class Amborella
(m3pl-ang-amb-ambo-trichopoda) Order Amborellales, Species; A.trichopoda
Description
Amborella trichopoda is a sprawling shrub or small tree up to 26 feet high (8 meters). It bears alternate, simple evergreen leaves without stipules. The leaves alternate, simple, evergreen with distinctly serrated or rippled margins, and about 3 to 4 inches long (8 to 10 centimeters).
The wood is considered primitive because it lacks vessels, a type of cell that conducts water.
Habitat:
Amborella trichopoda is native to the wet tropical biome of the central elevated region of the island′s montane forests.
Range:
Amborella trichopoda is endemic to the main island, Grande Terre of the New Caledonial island group in the southwest Pacific ocean.
