Range
Blue Jay is widespread in the east and central areas of the continent, migrates north as far west as the front range of the Rocky Mountains and summers as far north as lower Canada.
Habitat
Originally in oak and pine forests but has moved into the suburbs to the shade trees. Noisy, bold and will move in small loose flocks, except when nesting.
Description
When raised, the blue crest is striking in appearance. The wings and tail have white markings. The upper body is blue, under body is dull gray. The throat and lower face are white edged by a black necklace. Various raucous calls and will mimic other birds.
