The 2015 Journey, Great Kiskadee Go Down Go Up

(Day 683 JO) 45°F. 6:58 am
Overnighting in a parking lot
The night had a clear sky and the moon shown brightly through the last half of it. Up to start the jammer and warm up while waiting for the Salineno Wildlife Refuge open at eight. Then Merle, the refuge host walks his dog out the gate and down to the river and on the way back up stops to talk and invites me in for the first feeding. I grab my camera and begin taking photos, actually, I begin learning how to use it and all too soon, well in about two hours, an indicator begins flashing the words, battery out. That did not seem to last very long. I pack out of the preserve carrying a few more photos to include in the Birding Gallery.

Friday, 14 February 2014, Salineño, TX.
(Day 351 JO) 57°F.
Overnighting in a parking lot
The SalineƱo Wildlife Refuge does not open until eight this morning so I spend time updating my journal. Then, I go in to sit with Cheryl, the host, to watch the many birds that frequent this preserve.

After two hours my camera battery dies and I return to the jammer to recharge it and eat my Daystart. While sitting in the jammer, three more vehicles arrive and the birders go into the preserve. Soon, my battery is ready for another go at birding and I head back in.
