The Discussion of Parasites and Questions
Human Parasites
Human parasites, which includes several types of organisms which live in and/or on a host, and can lead to a range of symptoms including digestive issues, fatigue, weakness, mild irritations, swelling, pain, itching, skin problems and other problems. Some of the effects of parasites on the human body are immune responses which include inflammation, loss of vital nutrients and nutritional deficiencies, cell/tissue damage and organ damage. Untreated, human parasites can lead to a range of life-threatening illnesses, serious chronic health issues, organ failure sepsis, failure of the central nervous system and even death.
Parasites infections transmitted via contaminated food/water, insects, and/or direct contact. While very common in tropical areas, they also affect millions globally as well as in the United States, with infections like Giardia, toxoplasmosis, and pinworms causing symptoms ranging from GI distress to severe tissue damage.

The Types of Parasites
Human Parasite Types
Human parasites are categorized into three main categories:
(1.) Protozoa are microscopic, single-celled organisms that lives inside a host, causing the host harm while obtaining nutrients. These parasites can multiply inside humans, causing serious infections, even from a single organism.
(2.) Helminths are a parasitic worm-like organisms that survive by feeding on a living host, causing malnutrition, illness and sometimes chronic infections. These parasites remain a major health issue infecting over 1.5 billion people worldwide, particularly in developing areas causing conditions including anemia, nutrient malabsorption, and, in severe cases, cognitive or physical growth stunting.
a. Nematoda, the roundworms.
b. Cestoda, the tapeworms
c. Trematoda, the flukes
(3.) Ectoparasites are those parasites that lives on the exterior surface of its host rather than inside of the host and often feeds on the blood and/or the skin of the host.
Common Types: bedbugs, fleas, lice, mites, ticks
Humans Harm: these parasite causes irritation, severe itching (puritus), allergic reactions and infestion conditions such as scabies.
Disease: Lyme disease, typhus, trench fever and plague
Transmission: this typically occurs through close physical contact with an infected person or animal, or contact with infested items like bedding or clothing.
Treatment: Ectoparasiticides are used to kill the parasite and are in forms including: lotions, sprays and shampoos.
