Having just begun this year in September, the Journey On takes me first to Yosemite National Park for a week long backpacking trip with close friends.

Many are the photos of the time spent here in this wilderness area. However, as I am to find out during this backpack as well as over the next few years, due to the rarity of this nonpareil, few will be those photo opportunities for capturing the suntouch.

After the grueling four day hike, climbing up from Tuolumne Meadows up through the Lyell valley and over Donahue pass, then across the Sierra High route, up and over Island Pass and finally down into the Thousand Island Lake basin, the groups camps here on the shore of the lake for two days.

Rising early to observe the dayspring, I capture the suntouch.

After such a grand suntouch yesterday morning,I decide that I must needs arise again early today, and I was equally rewarded

Awake early, walk out to the edge of the canyon and await for the day to begin. After many photos of the sunglow, the sun finally peaks above the horizon.

Upon seeing that this day is about to end, I return to the edge of the canyon, find a good spot for the sunset photos and wait for the show to begin.

Suntouch viewing and good suntouch photos are rare indeed, but seeing and photographing the suntouch twice in a day almost never happens.
