Montezuma Castle is located on Beaver Creek which is a tributary flowing north from Verde River. Beaver Creek flows down from the high country above an extensive canyon edge known as the Mogollon Rim in the Arizona Escarpment ecoregion and into and across a large flood plain valley called Lake Montezuma Valley.
