After a recap of the narrative history and the events and activities of Jehovah′s Witnesses on the north end of Whidbey Island, then, this Quire will continue with the efforts of both the local congregation and of those who travel, sometimes long distances to come to the island so as to help with the construction of the new hall for the Oak Harbor Congregations of Jehovah′s Witnesses.

However, before any work can actually begin, there is the need to comply with the local jurisdictional district and acquire the proper permits. This proves to be difficult at first but in time, the words of Psalms 127 come true for his people here, showing them that the most high God is backing this project.

Once the proper permits have been acquired, the friends come together on Sunday, 29 April 2012, the last meetings are held in the old building. Immediately after the last prayer was said, the friends began to arrive in their work clothes and the tasks at hand begin.

Over the course of the next several weeks, much is done by way of pre-construction, events, all of which are presage to the eventual new hall construction.

Then, on Thursday, 17 May, 2012, the next part is begun, the demolition of the old building, a task that takes no where near as long as I personally had thought that it would. Yes, by the evening of day three, Saturday, 19 May, 2012, all that remains of the old structure is the dirt that was beneath that building.

Following the demolition, the dirt that remains needed to be worked and prepared for then new building. Then, foundations footing forms were brought in, the forms put together and soon after concrete poured. Some time later, the next step would be to build the foundation stem wall and after the concrete was poured and allowed to dry, the preparations for the slab begin.

Too, there is quite a bit of site work to be done during the next several weeks lasting through to the end of the month of July 2012.

On Tuesday, 31 July 2012, a few brothers arrive and begin doing layout work. Then the two project coordinators arrive and much of the layout work begins.

Next, on Wednesday, 01 August 2012, the bulk of the workers arrive and after a prayer and morning meal, the Hall Raising begins. By noon on Saturday, 04 August, 2012, the new hall is under roof, a term that means the roof is completed, and all windows and doors installed.

After having the first part of this work inspected, the remaining parts are continued right up until Saturday, 20 October 2012, when the final landscaping is completed. Too, the entire hall is thoroughly cleaned in preparation for the visit of the circuit overseer and his wife beginning on Tuesday of next week.

Then, on Sunday, 21 October 2012, the entire congregation pauses from the work to travel to a special assembly held off island.

The local liaison between the city engineering office and the congregation workers requested a temporary occupancy permit and was granted the permit so that we could have our scheduled circuit overseer′s visit.
