Washington: Deer Creek Forest Camp, NF Campground
The Deer Creek Forest Creek campground here is about fifty to sixty feet above the Boulder Creek road which crosses the summit pass and I have looked several time but from where I am I in the campground, can not see the vehicles as they drive through the pass. However, I can hear them, however slightly. It seems that because they are below the ground where I am at, the rocks on the side of the pass muffle their noise quite a lot, and now, they kind of sound like the wind blowing through the tops of the tree all about me, which is kind of humorous because all of the trees here in every direction were burnt down, well except for many of their skeletal like remains. I believe that this happened in a 2017 when a fire swept throughout this area.
Location:
The campground is located within Colville National Forest in northeast Washington state. Access to the campsite can be achieved by driving along Bolder Creek Road which traverses the Kettle River Mountain Range between US 395 east of the campsite and SH 21 west of the campsite.
Upon arriving at the summit pass, the campground access road is downhill, just west of the pass on the north side, which road is marked by a large sign for the campground. This road travel upward and then to the right (east) into the campground. There is one loop with seven campsites, one of which has a horse corral, number 6.
