Summer Sojourn, Day 15
Overnighting in a parking lot
Upon arriving at the Historical Bridge, I stop, park the jammer in the small parking lot, grab my camera and get out to take some photos. After walking about, I find that there is not a location to get good photos of the underside of the bridge, because there are trees blocking the view.

So, after walking out onto the bridge, I take photos of the Niobrara river valley from near the middle of the bridge and see an open place on the south bank about 100 feet to the west, but it does not look promising that I can climb down there,

I next walk to the west side of the bridge at where the guard rails are covered in tree branches and as I get closer to the embankment down, I see an opening. I stick my head through the branches and see a path down. So, I make it through the bushy area, I am able to see a stairway leading down.

I follow the stairs down to a drainage ditch with a bridge over the ditch but it has collapsed and it is no longer passable. So, I just walk down the embankment towards the river and I am able to make my way to the river. From this location, I am able to walk west onto the open grassy bank where I thought that I could get some good photos of the arch structure of the bridge. In just a little while, I am taking photos of the Bryan Arch Bridge.

After taking several photos of the arch and supports, I then walk back up the embankment to the road way where I only then get a photo of the roadway itself.

Finally, I walk back onto the bridge and begin taking photos of the river downstream, to the east and see the new US 83 bridge but also a second one in the distance which is a train trestle. I later learn that the trestle is called the Valentine Bridge on Cowboy Trail.
