The 1997 Aerostar, the

1997 White Jammer
Purchased for $1500.00 from a truck sales lot in Dallas, Texas. When I first saw it advertised on the internet, the dealer was asking $2450.00 out the door. Despite that high price, there was one thing that caught my attention from the very first time I saw the add, which was it was listed as having only 64,000 miles.
This Aerostar has a 3.0 liter V-6 vulcan engine with automatic transmission, rear wheel drive, 21.0 gallon tank, and 17 - 23 mpg, but this Aerostar is the short version without the two battery boxes on either side in the very rear. I would prefer the extended version, but since there were fewer of those manufactured, I will likely not be able to find another one.
When looking under the hood of this 1997 Aerostar, I found out that this engine does not have a distributor like the 1989 did, but instead has a six wire ignition coil. The whole in the rear of the engine, where the distributor would have been, now holds a timing sensor.

Time to Put On the Clean
The first stop is at a car wash where I wash off years of accumulate dirt. It comes out looking really good but I know that I still have a lot of work to do on this Aerostar. I next stop at Dinosaur State Park for a hot shower before heading a bit further west on the back roads of Texas.

The roof also needs a lot of work because of all the sunburn it has received from sitting outside under the Texas sun.
I buy sandpaper, a can of rust converter, a can of white primer and a can of gloss white paint and begin working. I am able to get the front half of the roof sanded and painted with the rust stop and then take a photo of what it looks like before spraying the gloss white paint.

Oregon Goose Lake Campground
This is a one of a kind campground for Oregon and is not the normal crowed, no vacancy, overused campground which is so very common in Oregon during the summer and fall of the year. I hope to return to this campground again in the future.

Sojourn in the Desert
Upon arriving in Hemet, California to work on a
rental owned by my good friends, Richard and Kim, never did I believe that I would be here for over two months much less long enough to begin the
eleventh week.
While here, I also do work on the jammer including replacing the engine and transmission oils, cleaning and painting the food storage bins, and building a wood bumper for the back of the jammer.
