THE GRAND LODGES
Oregon: The Chateau, 1934

The Chateau, Oregon Caves National Monument Go Down Go Back
The Chateau
The Chateau at Oregon Caves is a picturesque national park lodge and six-story structure with 23 guest rooms, each of which has its own unique charm. Too, there is a dining room with canyon views and a 1930s-era coffee shop/diner. The Oregon Caves Chateau is typically open early May through early October. 2023 reservations are not available at this time.
The Chateau is six stories high and is built across a steep ravine, which slope gives the first four floor levels a ground level entrances. From the main front entrance the building appears to be only three stories high, but from the creek bed below the hotel, all six floors can be seen. The lowest two floors house storage and building systems. The third floor contains the dining room, coffee shop and kitchen. The fourth floor, at the level of the driveway, houses the lobby and some guest rooms, while the fifth and sixth floors have guest rooms and the manager′s quarters.
Locally crafted gifts and works of art are available in the gift gallery.
Oregon Caves National Monument
The Oregon Caves is a unique National Monument & Preserve located some 130 miles from Crater lake National Park, or about 20 miles east from Cave Junction, Oregon on Oregon SH 46. This cave is located within the Siskiyou Mountains and contain dark, twisting passages that total about 15,000 feet (4,600 m) in length. Eight separate smaller caves have also been discovered in the monument. Eons of acidic water seeping into marble rock created and decorated what is know as the Marble Halls of Oregon.
Park rangers offers numerous cave tours from early September to early November. It is recommended to book your tours for the spring/summer season in advance due to high demand. Other popular activities include dining at the Oregon Caves Chateau, hiking and camping.
