THE BRIDGES
The Truss Bridges

The Truss Bridges, First Percha Creek Bridge, New Mexico Go Down Go Up
Information:
This Warren deck truss bridge was built in 1927 and spans Percha Creek, cutting through a formidable and beautiful gorge which lies below.
The truss bridge was constructed during a time when the Black Range Highways (now New Mexico State Highway 152) was being built, a highway whereupon the entire project proved quite difficult. Too, on this highway, there are a couple more truss bridges which are through truss structures in stead of the truss deck bridge that this one is.
This Warren deck truss bridge has been preserved by the New Mexico Department of Transportation and is listed on the national Register of historic places.
Open to pedestrians only. Posted to National Register of Historic Places on 15 July 1997
Driving Directions:
The bridge is located on state highway 152 where this highway spans Percha Creek. From IH 25 just north of Oasis, New Mexico, take IH 25 exit 63 and drive west up from the Rio Grande River about 19.3 miles to where the new Percha Creek Bridge crosses the gorge.
