The Arch Bridges

The Arch Bridges, Alsea Bay Bridge, Oregon Go Down Go Up
Information:
This arch bridge replaced the previous bridge built in 1936 which was a reinforced concrete combination deck and through arch bridge.
Construction on the new bridge began in 1988 just east of the old bridge. When the new bridge was completed in 1991, the old bridge was demolished.
Driving Directions:
The bridge is located on the Oregon coast just north of the seaport of Waldport and can be accessed by driving on US 101.

Bridge Type: Steel Cable-stayed Half-through tied Arch Concrete Deck bridge
Year Open: 1991
Replaced: 1936 C. B. McCullough reinforced concrete three span arch bridge.
Total Length: 2910 feet
Total Width: 80 feet
Main Span Length: 450 feet;
Crosses: Alsea Bay and River
Clearance Above: (Vehicle Clearance) about 20 feet.
Clearance Below: (Vessel Clearance) 70 feet.
Cost to Build: $42.4 million
Cost to Restore: $2.5 million
Remove rust and repaint.
