Genus: Elephant, Asian Elephant, one specie

The Genus Elephant Go Down Go Up
Asian Elephant
(1) Asian elephant, (Elephant elephant)
The Asian elephant weighs about six tons, (5500 kg) and has a shoulder height of 11.5 feet or 3.5 meters.

The Genus Loxodonta Go Down Go Up
African Elephants:
(1) African savanna elephant (Loxodontal africana) which weighs up to nine tons (8000 kg) and a shoulder height of 13 feet (4 meters);
(2) African forest elephant (Loxodontal cyclotis) which lives in rainforests, was recognized as a separate species in 2000 and is smaller than the savanna elephant.
