The Dark Green Forest
Of the several paths a wayƒarer takes to reach the summit, it is the Evergreen Path that normally takes the wayfarer out of the proximity of the lowlanders, away from the city dwellers and into fresh air and the smell of pine sap in the summer air.
The forest on this path is dense, at times so much so that you can not see through it. Too, the elevation is steadily increasing, and at 9000 feet this dark green forest begins to fade.
At elevation 9,190 feet, the highway comes upon the Rock Creek Vista Point where I walk the foot path to the vista point for photos of the Rock Creek canyon.
The Dark Green Forest Begins to Fade
This dark green forest will continue for only a few more hundred feet where it begins to thin drastically. Next, the trees will begin to diminish in size, there stature becoming much smaller as the elevation increases.
The few trees that grow near 10,000 feet in elevation will not only be diminished in size, but these trees will be deformed looking trees, bent and twisted in appearance as they struggle to survive near the treeline.
