I arrive in the Farewell Bend State Recreation Area just after three this afternoon, set up the jammer, run the extension cord and then plug in the jammer. When I look inside, I can see that the red light on the power block is glowing bright. Next, I run another extension cord to the picnic table and the get out my electric hot plate, plug it in and the put a pot of water atop the hot plate.

While the water is heating up, I get out my cutting board, knife and all of the vegetables that Joanne gave me. I sit down at the table and begin cleaning, trimming and preparing the vegetables for cooking. All the peeled parts, I set aside and when the water is boiling in the cookpot, I put all of the peeled skins and root parts in the water to boil and once the skins and roots have boiled for more than ten minutes, I pour some of the broth into the second pot in which I have been putting the cut-up fresh vegetables including: beets, carrots, garlic, ginger, kale and yellow onion.

Next, I drain the broth from the cookpot into the cookpot lid, at which time I save most all of the kale leaves and stack them on the cutting board, eating several while doing so and put the rest in with the fresh cut-up vegetables. Then, I toss all of the roots and skins into the bushes adjacent to the campsite.

Finally, I transfer all of the cut-up vegetables and broth into the cookpot, with enough left over to fill my 14 ounce Yeti hot cup, and then turn the heat up on the hot plate to resume boiling the contents. What I have left of the turnip greens and stems, I put in a plastic bag and store them in side the jammer on the floorboard in the office where the temperature is the coolest locations. I will use these stems to snack upon during the next many days.

This time, I only cook these vegetables until they are just getting soft after which, I turn the hot plate off.

Awake, arise, dress in my fall blues, step outside and walk to the restroom/shower house for some hot water. Upon returning, I open up the rear lift door, get out my electric hot plate, electric water kettle and cook pot to begin my morning meal. Too, I get out my cutting board, knife and bag of fresh vegetable that Joanne in Oak Harbor, Washington gave me. First, I put some water in the kettle and turn the switch on to boil the water, after which I take two tea bags and put then in one of my Yeti cups, two Café Bustelo instant coffee single serve packets (coffee packets) and empty then into my second Yeti cup and then fill my Sierra cup with the ingredients of my Daystart™.
