Episode Six, Journey to Bear Lake by Yamato Aoime
Saturday, 29 May 1971, Weekend in a cabin near the lake.
DRIVING YESTERDAY EVENING, we arrived here after dark at the lake for the long holiday weekend, found the cabin, unlocked the door and started a fire in the fireplace after which we settle in for the evening.
Currently, I am a Marine and joined the Corps so that I could get a good training and position, one which would first and foremost keep me from being drafted and out of the war currently raging in Viet Nam and second, provide myself with a trade that will help me with work in the future. When I first came into the military, I was totally shocked by what it took make it through boot camp, having to endure some extremely harsh and cruel treatment just to get buy, but that is a story for another time.

Last week, I was able to secure a pass for this trip, from my duty station at El Toro Marine Corps air base. This is my first time to return here to Bear Lake since our release from the concentration camp.
This is a cozy cabin where we are staying, one which overlooks the eastern portions of Bear Lake. Too, the mountain lake setting is so beautiful to my eyes that I want to make it a point to return here again in the future, and often if my circumstances allow.
