The Campsite
Double Lakes Campground, Sam Houston Nat. Forest
The campground is located on state highway FM 2025, a quarter mile south of SH 150 and a short distance east of Coldsprings, Texas.

Elevation: 262 feet (79 meters.)

The Amenities
Onsite:
Double Lake Recreation Area, within Sam Houston National Forest, built by the CCCC in 1937 offers a lot of different recreation opportunities, including camping, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking and enjoying the east Texas woodlands which area is naturally rolling hills and forested with a mix of hardwood and evergreens.
Double Lake is a earthen dammed 23 acre lake and stocked with bass, bream and catfish. There are three fishing piers and a limited access boat ramp with nearby trailer parking. Only small boats with electric motors are allowed. Boat and canoe rentals are available on site.
There is a swimming area in the lake with a sand beach right near a large parking area. A bath house is available adjacent to a general store with concession stand which sells food, drink, firewood, and rents boats and canoes.

Nearby:
A five mile hiking trail leads to Big Creek Scenic Area which also gives access to the 128 mile Lone Star Hiking Trail. A 20 mile hike-bike trail winds around the lake.

The Camping
General Information:
Open year round, the camping includes a variety of tent, RV and group sites.
There are 65 campsites, reservations accepted, operated by concessionaire.
A shelter for groups up to 100, and a lodge for group events are available by reservation through the National Recreation Reservations Service.

Entrance Fee:
$7.00
Senior pass holders have to pay this fee.

Fees:
Electric-water sites: $20.00 - $40.00
Tent only sites: $20.00
Access, Senior or Veteran Pass Holders receive half off.

Campground Includes:
The campground has a shower house with flush toilets, picnic shelters, general store, boat rentals, firewood and more.
